“But…” But what? What did she want to say? That she didn’t want to go? That she wanted to stay?
That was preposterous. She had to go back to Liverpool. She had a job, a home, and friends who’d be waiting for her at the airport and were no doubt out of their minds with worry. “What time is it?”
Nia pulled a golden pocket watch from the inside of her leather jacket. “Nearly nine.”
“What time is your flight?” Seth asked, his tone flat.
“Soon. I need to get going if I’m going to make it.” The words seemed to drag over her tongue the way a razor might. But the truth was she had a ticket home that had cost her a lot of money. She had to go. “But…”
“I’ll take you,” Seth said, releasing her. “Now.”
“Hey, nice fighting your corner,” Nia said, pressing her hand on Megan’s shoulder. “Stay away from creepy guys in bars from now on, okay?” She laughed and disappeared from the room. She shut the door behind herself.
“Go get dressed.” Seth pointed at the bedroom. “We need to hit the road.”
“Not yet.” She stepped up to him.
He frowned.
“I…I…”
“Tell me.” He tipped his head.
“I don’t want this to be it. Between us.”
“It won’t be.”
“But you live here in Ireland with the pack and my life is in Liverpool. I can’t afford to keep flying over here every weekend to see you.”
“Money isn’t an issue, not now you’re mine.”
“I’m yours?”
“Yeah, baby, can’t you tell?” He wrapped his arms around her waist.
A lovely bubble of happiness went through her. The thought of being Seth’s, of him belonging to her, was exactly what she wanted. “Why isn’t money an issue? Do you have some big fancy job you do when you’re not a wolf hunting down vampires?”
He chuckled. “I told you, we have old money. It accumulates interest, plus we’re paid handsomely by the GVW for our vigilance and services.”
“Oh, I see.”
“So whenever you want to come here, I’ll buy your ticket. And one day…”
“One day what?”
“Maybe you’ll consider making Ireland your home?”
“My home?”
He swept his lips over hers and bunched her robe in his fists. “Yes. With me.”
“It’s so quick, we only just—”
“Don’t say we only just met, because that’s irrelevant.”
“I don’t think it is. I mean sure, I feel the same as you. I’d love to be here, to see where this is going, between us.”
“You humans have funny ideas about romance and love and putting a time frame on it. It’s much easier for me. You’re my mate. You always will be, now and forever. I won’t ever want anyone else but you, Megan.”
“You won’t?”
“No.” He pressed his lips together. Emotion flashed over his eyes. “When a wolf bonds with someone, that’s it. There’s no going back, ever.”
Megan didn’t know what to say. He wanted her now and forever? It would only be her from now on? “I see.”
“But you’re not a shifter. I get that. So I’m happy to wait, to allow you the romance, the time for your feelings for me to grow.”
“They’re already pretty big.”
“I’m pleased to hear it.” A half-smile tugged at his lips.
“And I don’t want to go. But I have to. I need to go in to work. I can’t leave the kids in the lurch. Also, I have to see my friends, let them know I’m alive.” She suppressed a shudder when she remembered how close she’d come to not being alive.
“Shh.” He rubbed his hands up her back. “It’s okay. I understand.”
“Do you?” She’d hate it if he didn’t truly understand how much he’d come to mean to her.
“Yes.”
“Are you sure?”
“I can see it in your eyes, Megan. You are a good, loving and honest person. We have a great future ahead of us.”
“Do you think?” How the hell could he know? Or was he just super-confident?
“Yeah, my sixth sense is telling me so.” He slotted his fingers into her hair and kissed her, a long, deep, sensual kiss that made her knees weak and her heart flutter.
“Damn it,” he said, pulling back. “We need to get you to the airport.”
“No.” She locked her hands behind his head. “I think we can spare ten minutes.”
He raised his eyebrows.
“Make love to me,” she whispered against his lips. “So I have that memory to hold onto until we’re together again.”
“Won’t you miss your flight?”
“No. It will be fine.” She tugged him toward the sofa. “If you’re quick.”
“Baby, I can be as quick as you want. You’re the sexiest woman I’ve ever been with, but…”
“There’s a but?” She lay on the sofa, spreading the robe to reveal her naked body.
“Yeah.” He scanned his attention over her, lingering on her breasts and then her open thighs. “I’m a gentleman, I’m not gonna come until you have, baby.”
“I can live with that.”
He grinned and shoved at his jeans, revealing his erection.
Megan held out her arms for him. She ached to hold his body, to feel his heat and skin against hers.
In an instant he was there, his cock nudging her entrance. “Ah, yeah, so hot. I’m so fucking hot for you.”
She smiled and kissed him, roaming her hands over his back and into his hair as he pushed deep inside of her.
They both groaned, the noise combining in their mouths.
Megan hooked her legs around the back of his and bowed her spine, taking him deeper still. It was so good to have him become a part of her. She couldn’t imagine life without him now.
I love him.
The thought, the sudden knowledge, created a burst of emotion inside of her. A tear trickled loose and flowed down her cheek toward her ear.
“What?” he asked, looking concernedly at her watery eyes.
“Seth…”
“What?” he asked again. “What have I done?” He stilled.
“Nothing.” She rocked her hips. “Don’t stop.”
He set up a steady pace, gliding in and out of her and rubbing over her clit.
“It’s just…” she said. “I think I might be falling in love with you.”
He grinned and his eyes twinkled. “Good, because I’ve already fallen, I’ve well and truly hit the bottom of the love canyon.”
She giggled, a sudden burst of noise, but it turned into a groan as he ground up against her, catching her clit just right.
“Come,” he said. “Come now and I’ll join you.”
“Yes…yes…” She stared into his eyes, held her breath and enjoyed the last moments before he wrung an orgasm from her.
She panted through her release, clinging to him. Pleasure and love filled her soul and she let herself get lost in his eyes as he gave into his own climax.
“Oh yes, so fucking…good,” he said, then tipped his head back. A strange kind of howl emerged—half human, half wolf.
He’d completely let himself go, shown her what he was, held nothing back.
She pressed her hands to his face, his beardy stubble scratching her palms. Her wolf man was incredible, and unique, and sexy, and there was no damn way she’d be letting him go in a hurry.
A few hours later, Megan was standing in departures at Dublin airport, her rucksack on her back.
Seth stood at her side, holding her hand.
“That’s my flight.” She pointed at the screen. “I need to check in at desk twenty-two.”
“I think it’s this way?” He pointed to the left.
“Have you been here before?” she asked.
“Yes, a few times. I’ve been to Marrakesh to meet with senior members of the GVW.”
“Oh, I see.”
“I’m not fond of fly
ing though.”
“Don’t like turbulence?”
“No, it’s not that. It’s the thought of shifting, up in the air. I think I’d scare everyone so badly I might bring the plane down.”
“But you can control when you shift?” She frowned up at him.
“Mostly.” He shrugged. “If I come and visit you, I’ll get the ferry.”
“Megan! Oh fuck! Megan. It’s Megan.”
Megan turned at the sound of familiar voices.
Felicity was racing toward her. Emma and the others close behind, their expressions a mixture of fury, relief, surprise and elation.
“There’s the girls,” Megan said quietly and glanced up at Seth.
“Oh my fucking God.” Felicity flung her arms around Megan. “Have you any idea how worried we’ve been, you stupid cow?” She hugged her tight.
Megan returned the hug, one-handed. Seth had a firm grip on her other one.
“Jesus.” Felicity pulled back and gripped Megan’s shoulders. “We’ve been so worried. They found your phone, near the pub in Temple Bar, but there was no sign of you.”
Emma leaned in for a hug, holding onto Megan with urgency in her arms.
“Who found my phone?” Megan asked when Emma released her.
“The police,” Felicity said. “We thought you’d gone off with that cute guy you’d found.” She glanced at Seth and a flash of confusion went over her face. “But then, when you didn’t answer any texts or calls, we contacted the police.”
“And they did a search of the area, found your phone, said there’d been a struggle.”
“Are you okay?” Emma asked, looking Megan up and down.
“I’m fine.” She smiled.
“So what the fuck happened?” Felicity asked.
Seth cleared his throat.
All attention turned to him.
Megan looked up at her handsome new lover.
He tilted his chin and surveyed the group. “I happened.”
Megan pressed her lips together, holding in a giggle. He certainly had happened, in a big way.
“Oh,” Felicity said, her eyes widening.
“I see,” Emma added. “And you are?”
“Seth Martin.” He nodded. “And you’re right, there was a struggle, a man with unwholesome intentions had set his sights on your friend Megan here. It just took a little while to sort out the situation.”
“Unwholesome intentions?” Emma looked confused.
Megan turned down her mouth. “Yes, not a nice chap at all. Thank goodness Seth came along when he did.” She paused. “I’m really sorry. I couldn’t get in touch. But I’m here now.”
“That’s okay. I’m sure the police will be relieved they’re not investigating an abduction case, or worse still, a murder case.” Emma pulled out her phone. “I’ll call them.”
“And you, Seth…” Felicity stepped forward and took Seth’s free hand. “Gosh, you’re warm.”
He smiled and nodded.
She studied him for a moment then shook her head slightly. “You absolutely must come to my wedding next weekend, as Megan’s plus one. I’ve been telling her for months to get a date and, well, now it looks like she’s found a Prince Charming to accompany her.”
“Prince Charming might be going a bit far,” Seth said with a chuckle.
Megan studied him. Take Seth to the wedding that had been the main topic of conversation between her and her friends for months? Could she? Would he even want to? Would they still want him there if they knew he could turn into a huge black wolf that slayed vampires?
“Megan?” Seth said, swiping his tongue over his bottom lip.
“Would you like to?” she asked.
He said nothing.
Her friends seemed to hold their breath—Megan did too.
“Do you want me there?” he asked.
Of course I do.
She nodded. “Yes.”
“Then I’ll be there.” He released her hand and swept her up. He lifted her high and higher still until her face was level with his.
She locked her legs around his waist and giggled.
He kissed her with a passion that made her wonder how she’d survive until she saw him again in a week’s time.
All around her, her friends whooped and cheered. Their laughter and pleasure at her joining them again adding to her happiness.
Seth Martin had burst into her life, thrown what she thought she knew about the world upside down, and she was more than happy to stay that way, with him, forever.
