BorIS winked at her. “I did but she decided she loved my best friend instead.”

LemAN growled. “Don’t you have something to do, like check on the Morinians?”

“We’re no longer orbiting the Colonial Planet. We are en route for Katiera.”

LemAN once more tried to sit up. “I did not give that order.”

“No, but Prime Commander KydEL did.” BorIS looked down at Teagan. “Miss White, perhaps you could go take your rest since the commander is awake. I need to update him on everything and the medics will monitor him now that he’s awake.”

She bit her bottom lip, something she did when she wasn’t sure of something. “I don’t want to leave him.”

“I’ll be fine, Teagan. You should go rest, shower, change, and eat. I’ll be here when you get back,” LemAN said.

“Okay, but only for a little while. If anything happens, I’ll expect a call immediately.”

The medics reassured her. “Miss White, we will call you first thing,” one said.

“Okay.” She leaned over and kissed LemAN softly on the lips. “I’ll be back.”

He waited for Teagan to leave the medic wing before turning to BorIS. “Tell me everything I missed.”

“Our attackers were definitely purist rebels and sympathizers hiding out among the colonists.”

“How did they know about the Morinians?”

“They didn’t. Leader LarIS did not tell anyone except Commander AshOR and the village leader that the Morinians were coming. From some of the purist rebels questioned, all they knew was that Leader LarIS was heading up a special secret mission. They followed the shuttles out into the jungle and waited.”

“How many of our people and the Morinians were injured?”

“None of the Morinians were hurt since they were still on the shuttles. Five of our twenty warriors suffered injury along with you, but no fatalities. None of Leader LarIS’s people were injured.”

  “Thank the Goddess.”

“She was definitely shining down on us that day, especially on you.”

“Is it true I almost died?”

“Twice. I never want to experience that fear again or witness the pain on your mate’s face as she fought to keep you breathing. Did you not think before leaping in front of a blaster?”

“The only thought I had was to protect my mate. I still can’t believe I’ve been out for three whole days.”

“You weren’t completely out. You talked some in your unconscious state.”

  “What about? Nonsense?”

  “You called out LoraLI’s name.”

Goddess, that must have hurt Teagan to hear another woman’s name from him. “I dreamed that I saw LoraLI and our son, LormAN. She told me to come back and live a happy, full life. Don’t you believe me?”

“I’m not the one you should explain that to. The medics want to observe you while you are awake. If you’re good, they’ll release you to rest in your quarters the remainder of the trip back home.”

Home. It had a different sound to it now. Before when he was away on a mission, he dreaded returning to Katiera, to his empty one-bedroom suite. He had given up his larger family home to the Earth females. He didn’t want to be constantly reminded of how he had lost so much. Now he wanted to build a new home, one with Teagan, and fill it with their children.

“Is there anything else I should be made aware of?”

“Yes, the medics would like you to keep Teagan occupied in your quarters. Out of boredom, she took apart their light system, trying to set it up to turn on when the door opened. It took them hours to reverse what she had done.”

LemAN laughed. “Can you imagine what it’s going to be like with her on Katiera?”

BorIS groaned and rolled his eyes. “Keep her away from our weaponry system, please. It wouldn’t do to have her blow up our planet.”

LemAN chuckled as he lay back down on the bed, letting the medics scan him again. “I want to go to my quarters now. Leaving Teagan alone for too long is not a good idea.”

“We’ll get a carrier to take you,” the lead medic said with enthusiasm.

Teagan smiled as she watched the medics help LemAN onto their bed. She quickly pulled the sheets down and covered him up, then saw the medics out and thanked them.

LemAN patted the spot next to him so she walked over and climbed in.

“Closer. I need to feel your heartbeat.”

She needed that, too. She snuggled in until her body was next to his. He wrapped his arms around her and she was immediately enveloped with his scent and his warmth. “God, I’ve missed being in your arms.”

  “Me, too.”

“I thought I’d lost you. I can’t lose you. I love you more than anything, LemAN.”

“I love you more than anything, Teagan. You are a blessing from the Goddess and I will never be able to thank her enough.”

He kissed her and she eagerly responded. When they pulled back and stared at each other, there was something he wanted to say to her but he hesitated.

  “What is it, LemAN?”

“While I was out, I dreamed of seeing my LoraLI and my son. He was the age he would be if he had lived.”

  “I’m sorry.”

“I’m not. They were happy because they were together. LoraLI told me I needed to come back and live a full and happy life…with you.”

She didn’t know what to say. She’d heard stories of others who’d had death experiences and came back to tell about it. He did almost die.

“Did it hurt to see them?”

He shook his head. “No, I felt relief. Like a weight of sadness had been lifted from my heart. I heard your voice calling me and I knew I had to come back for you. You are my future, Teagan, and I want to share everything with you. Including having many, many young—at least six or so.”

“Whoa there, buddy. You come back from the dead and suddenly want to repopulate the world. Let’s just start with getting you back on your feet.”

He pulled her under him, which caught her off guard. “I don’t have to be on my feet to make love to my mate or to make a young.” He kissed her again but this time unleashed the passion he held inside only for her.

She couldn’t help but respond. She wrapped her arms around his neck and opened her legs. He fit between them perfectly. She wanted nothing more than to forget the harrowing last three days. Suddenly she was desperate to feel him inside her, be one with him.

  “I love you, LemAN.”

  “I love you, too, Teagan.”

  “Let’s practice making those babies.”

  “Goddess, yes.”

  Epilogue

  Two weeks later

LemAN stood on the sandy shores of Katiera and listened to his mate laugh with her new friends. It never took long for Teagan to make friends, because she was easygoing. The Prime family wanted to meet with them personally to hear about their experiences and the Morinians. The other Earth females mated to the Primes immediately took a liking to Teagan and went out of their way to make her feel welcome.

The female voices carried and he could hear as they discussed the upcoming mating ceremony. He insisted it be here on the shores and Teagan agreed without question. He was grateful that she had a support system here. He, too, had found a support system. Standing next to him was Prime Commander KydEL and Prime Leader RendEL.

“The purist rebels questioned by Leader LarIS were a mixed group. Some were from Katiera, some from Kiljor, and the rest from the Colonial Planet,” KydEL told him.

“Have they been in contact with the rebel leader? Do they know where he is hiding?”

“No. LarIS used his skills on them and found nothing. They were sent orders months ago to watch and attack when they found the situation called for it,” RendEL replied.

“How are the Morinians doing?” LemAN asked.

“Settling into their temporary huts. The villagers are still nervous to have them there,” RendEL said.

  “
I don’t blame them. Hopefully BorIS will be able to find them a planet that suits their needs soon.” It upset him a little that BorIS was given the responsibility to search out a new home world for the Morinians, but LemAN was still recovering and, honestly, he wanted this time to spend with his mate.

“In the meantime, it was a wise decision to leave some of our warriors in the village to assure their safety,” KydEL acknowledged. Again, that had been BorIS’s decision and it was a good one. Lt. ComEY happened to be one of those warriors who remained behind.

“BorIS deserved to command his own ship. It was about time.”

“We need all the good commanders we can get. Something is coming, I can feel it.” KydEL’s forewarning made the three men look at their mates protectively.

LemAN felt the same thing. Something was coming their way and they needed to get ready for it.

  Purist rebel transport, deep space

Commander MarIK was filled with rage and disgust as he watched Purist Leader OrIN clasp forearms with the Morin leader. OrIN was making a deal with the enemy in order to defeat the Katierans. This went against everything he believed in.

He knew OrIN was up to no good after he lost the captured female, Melody, and was betrayed by StrykER. OrIN was out to avenge himself and he would use any means available to him. OrIN didn’t trust him or anyone so it was going to make it harder to discover what nefarious plans he was making. MarIK would do what he could to help the Katierans then he would take his own vengeance against the leader who had used him and others and now made alliances with the enemy. MarIK would not let this slide. OrIN finally had gone too far. A day of reckoning was coming. Goddess help any who stood in the way.
