The Cat's Meow Page 23

by Stacey Kennedy

I shook my head, shedding the thoughts of the spell—something to deal with at another time—and I stuck to the present. “You have no knowledge of who this leader is?”

“Libby.” Kale frowned. “Quiet your mind. I’m exhausted. This conversation can wait ’til tomorrow.”

  “But…”

His grin became devilish. “Besides, you need strength for later so I can make love to you gently, as you deserve, and in multiple ways.” He winked. “Even if it is overrated.”

I laughed, wondering if I could survive another round of Kale. Maybe even intrigued by the idea of his gentle hands instead of the possessive harsh hands I got a personal introduction to.

With a long sigh, I placed my head down on his chest, and he shifted me to his side, cradling me. Tomorrow would happen, the Alchemy awaited me, and my life had forever changed to now include Kale being in the center of it.

  One step at a time.

The first step was breaking the news to my mother that I was leaving Charleston and my coven, and somehow coming out of it unscathed.

Maybe I’d do a protection spell in the morning, just in case…

  About the Author

Stacey Kennedy’s novels are lighthearted fantasy with heart-squeezing, thigh-clenching romance, and even give a good chuckle every now and again. But within the stories you’ll also find fast-paced action, life-threatening moments, and a big bad villain who needs to be destroyed. She lives in Southwestern Ontario with her husband and two children. If she’s not plugging away at a new story—which is rare because her muse is annoying—you’ll find her camping, curling up with the latest flick, or obsessing over Sons of Anarchy and Dexter.

Stacey welcomes comments from readers. You can find her at www.staceykennedy.com.
