“I’m good Octavia. You?”
“Great,” I said. “I came to take my boo to lunch.” Tamara’s expression changed slightly as her eyes took on a distant look.
“What are you up to?”
“I just stopped by to say hello,” she said. “To see how Damon was doing.”
“You haven’t talked?” I asked. I was surprised the two of them weren’t keeping better contact, especially living in the same city.
“No,” she said. “But everything happens for a reason.” There was something strange in her voice that alerted me that there was more she wanted to say, but she chose not to say. “Well, I’d better get going. Take care.”
“You do the same,” I said, smiling. “Stop by the restaurant some time for lunch or dinner. My treat.”
“I’ll be sure to do that,” she started to walk away then stopped. “I almost forgot,” she said, digging in her purse. “Give these to Damon for me.” I opened my hand allowing Tamara to drop the set of platinum cuff links in my palm. “See you around,” she said victoriously before strutting off.
