Tame Page 35

I slowly made my way onto the stage, poking my tongue out at Troy, who winked back. We were so immature. I shook the principal's hand, received my diploma, and shakily joined the other graduates. There was a mumbling of 'well done' and 'go Farrah!'.

I breathed a sigh of relief when I realised I was free- clapping and cheering along with everyone else. Cameron and I had not yet spoken, we were both waiting for us to be alone. Jason joined us first, standing next to me, laughing at me because of me freezing up earlier.

"Jerk." I prodded him. We were then standing with Cameron too, who congratulated J, and smiled at me, flashing me a thumbs up.

Hayley, Riley and the rest of my grade were soon graduated, the last person being Tanner West. I clapped for him too, and he came straight up to me when he got his diploma.

"Hey, Farrah." He said quietly, smirking at me cockily.

"Hi. Well done on graduating." I told him awkwardly.

He didn't seem to notice how uncomfortable I was, and continued to speak to me.

"So we haven't seen each other in a while. I was thinking we could go to this party together, then back to mine...?" He suggested. I pulled a look of disgust, and pushed him away a little. He was inside of my personal space bubble.

"No thanks. I have a boyfriend." I informed him.

"Oh yeah? Who? Evans?" He asked, jerking his head at Jason, who stood next to me. "Or is it that one that gets you riled up? Riles?"

  "He's dating me!" Hayley gasped.

"I don't believe you have a boyfriend." Tanner told me sleazily.

"Well she does." Someone interrupted, a pair of strong, tanned arms wrapping themselves around me. I smiled to myself, the heat creeping to my cheeks for some reason.

  "Carter?" Tanner gaped at us.

"Yeah, got a problem?" Cameron raised an eyebrow.

"You don't even like fighting." Tanner scoffed. "Whatever, I can get anyone else I want."

"Poor them." I muttered. He was oblivious to my remark, and stalked off to some blonde chick.

"Hey friends, let us go elsewhere, and leave these two here lovers together." Jason announced to Hayley and Riley. I rolled my eyes at the way he put it, laughing.

"Uh, okay." Riley looked at him weirdly, but the three of them trooped off, leaving me and Cameron alone. People were slowly dispersing off anyway, to find their parents.

I turned around in Cameron's arms, grinning up at him. "Hey."

"Hey? That's all you can say?" Cameron asked me. I blushed, suddenly tongue tied.

  "I-I didn't..." I struggled.

"I'm joking, Farrah." Cameron said to me. He kissed my forehead and I erupted in tingles of happiness.

"I've missed you." I leant my head on his chest.

"I've missed you too. Are you going to the party tonight?" He asked me.

"Yep!" I grinned. "Mom agreed to letting me go!"

"Don't come back pregnant though." Mom's voice cut in. My head nearly snapped off at the speed it turned to look at her.

"Mom!" I cried, blushing furiously. How embarrassing!

"I'm not joking." She told me, a smile tugging at her lips.

"She's not that stupid." Dad interrupted.

"Oh my God." I whined, smacking my head against Cameron's hard torso.

"So you're the famous Cameron Carter." Rayne smirked. She looked incredibly mischevious when she did that, and I felt worried.

"Yeah, that's him. Can we go get some food now?" Troy complained.

"I just want to talk to Farrah and Cameron a second. You guys go ahead." Mom waved them away. Dad and David lead Troy and Rayne away, all of them hungry for the delicious feast our teachers had set out for us.

"Uh, hey...Lucia." Cameron nodded awkwardly at my Mom, testing out her name to see her reaction.

"Hello, Cameron." She replied. "Look, I'm sorry. I just wanted to say that. I was worried about Farrah getting into trouble, that's why I stopped her seeing you. I know you're both eighteen and can do what you want legally but...she's still my baby."

  "Mom." I tried.

"No, listen. I am truly sorry. You two are clearly made for each other, but I became an overprotective mother, I shouldn't have. All the stress at home, Farrah suddenly getting into trouble like that- I was turning into someone I'm not usually. I realise now how wrong I was. I really am sorry." Mom apologised.

"It's fine, Mom. Well, I'm still a bit annoyed, but as long as I can see him now." I smiled at Cameron, loving the fact his expression matched mine.

"You can." She allowed. "Oops- sorry. I just did it again!"

I rolled my eyes and Cameron laughed, letting his left arm slide around my waist, drawing me closer to him.

Mom clapped her hands together and gushed. "Aw, you two are so darn cute together! It takes a lot to be able to be separated for some times and just snap back into love."

  Love?

"Well that's how me and Farrah are." Cameron informed not only my Mother, but me too. Did that mean he loved me?

Well we did love each other. Sure, we weren't in love, but we did love each other.

I had butteflies in my stomach and just could not stop smiling. I thought my Mom's face might break with the huge smile she wore. But suddenly it changed to a serious expression.

"But if you do come back pregnant-" She began.

  "Mom!" I gasped.

"I will beat you," She turned to Cameron. "With a spoon."

  "Mom!" I cried.

"It's better than a knife." She shrugged.

  "Mom!"

"Okay, okay, I'm going. You kids have fun at this party, all right?" She laughed.

  "Will do, Lucia." Cameron nodded.

  "Bye, Mom." I waved.

The dance was going great. Everywhere people were dancing, though in some people's cases, like Riley, maybe it was best for them to sit down. Jason was chugging alcohol and eating food every five minutes, and was already drunk- it was hilarious. But he was sober enough to spot a girl with blonde/brown hair and follow her around all night like some love-sick puppy.

"Are you happy?" Cameron asked me. We were dancing right under the disco ball, swaying slowly to the song that was playing.

  I nodded. "Very. Are you?"

"Definitely." He agreed. He leant forward, his eyes closed, and I leant in as well, loving the feeling of his warm lips against mine. He kissed me softly before pulling away, smiling.

"This is so...amazing." I breathed. My life may have had some ups and downs, but I knew I would never forget this night.

  "Farrah!" Hayley suddenly called.

"What is it?" I asked, still dancing with Cameron.

"Look what I just found in your purse!" She called. I looked over to her, and saw Cookie's head poking out of my purse.

"Oh wow." Cameron laughed. My face wore a confused expression, crossed with laughter. I couldn't contain it- I burst into laughter right in the middle of the slow, romantic song.

"This is crazy." I giggled into Cameron's shoulder.

  "What is?"

"My life. Nothing about it, is tame."
