“May I?” She licked her lips, and he nodded.

“Since you asked so nicely.” Bracing himself on his hands he tried not to come the second that tongue lapped over the top. She licked it again, then took him in her mouth and scraped her teeth over it. Inch by inch, with each pass, more of his dick disappeared into her mouth until he wondered if the woman had no gag reflex. Heat surrounded his cock, the alternating sharpness of teeth and softness of tongue worked him higher and higher.

John grasped her hair and wrapped it around his hand, pulling enough to elicit a whimper, but he knew she didn’t want him to stop. Any more than he wanted her to, but if she sucked any harder he’d be shooting his juice down her throat, and he had other places in mind for it tonight.

Using his grip on her hair to pull her away, he lifted her toward him and brought his mouth down onto hers. The salt of his pre-cum and the sweetness of her mouth blended, and he held her there for a long moment, plunging his tongue into the warm cavern and dancing with hers. Her breasts brushed his shirt and he remembered he was still fully clothed. He wanted skin to skin contact when he made love to her.

“Give me a minute,” he said, rising and bringing her with him. “Why don’t you lie down and let me admire you in my bed while I get undressed?” She scooted up to rest her head on the pile of pillows by the headboard and something twisted inside him. He’d been picturing her there for weeks, but the reality bought up feelings he’d never experienced or even wanted before. Like possessiveness and pride and happiness and one more that scared the pants off him.

  Love.

Because if she didn’t return that, all the rest went right out the window.

Felicity’s hair spilled behind her, a whole new gold appearing in the Tiffany lamplight. Another gift from Mrs. Carson, something she said would help him make a home. She always said a woman liked to have pretty things around, but this pretty thing enhanced the beauty sprawled comfortably over his quilts with their reds and blues and yellows. She could have been painted there by one of the old masters, a Renaissance work of art in rich color in a museum he’d gone to once as a kid.

John stripped off his clothes and, unlike his usual tidy habits, tossed them to the floor in his desire to join her. Kneeling on the edge of the bed, he reached into the nightstand drawer and pulled out a strip of condoms and tossed them beside her along with a jar of lube.

She eyed the dozen or so condoms and giggled. “I’m not sure I could survive that much pleasure. We’d need to rehydrate long before we ran out.”

“It never hurts to be prepared.” Propping himself up on an elbow, he looked his fill at her beautiful face, eyes half closed, lips rosy and swollen from kissing and from sucking on his cock. “I want going to fuck your bottom, but if you’re not ready, your tight, sweet pussy is more than enough for me.”

Felicity’s eyes opened wide. “I want to do something special, something I’ve never done before, something between you and me.” She rolled onto her side, facing away from him, and glanced back over her shoulder. “My ass is yours, cowboy. Now show me what you can do with it.”

He almost choked, caught between laughter and the hardest hard on of his life. His dick vibrated. “Sassy woman. If I wasn’t about to fuck you six ways to Sunday, I’d paddle you first.”

“Mmm,” she purred. “It all sounds so good. But I’m all talk… and a little nervous, so if you want to get that big thing where it will do the most good, you’d better do it now.”

Dragging her back against him, he caressed the front of her body, cupping her breasts one by one and pinching and rolling the nipples until she moaned and wriggled against him. His cock slipped into her crack and he left it there, getting her used to the idea, while he brought his hand down to gently play between her labia, easing her into something new like a green broke mare. She trembled like one, soft sighs and gasps accompanying his movements.

“I’m not going to hurt you, darlin’. Well,” he admitted, “it will hurt at first, but hurt so good.”

She whimpered as he nuzzled her neck, then rolled her onto her belly and tucked two fluffy pillows under her hips. “If I wasn’t about to explode, I’d chicken out.”

“I know your secret now.” He lifted her a little higher and shoved another pillow in place. “I can use this information to get you to agree to”—he reached between her legs and scooped up enough of her juices to not need lube, but he’d use it anyway—“anything.”

As he stroked his slippery fingers over her clit then made slow circles, she writhed. “I don’t know about anything.” He stopped. “Yes,” she whimpered. “Touch me. Anything.” It might have been a great time for a proposal, and his new responsible, settled down, wanting to be married side considered it, but then his lusty side, eyeing her bobbing bottom, rosy with handprints from their session in the kitchen, decided not to change his plans.

If he played his cards right, if he gave her enough pleasure to become addicted to him, it could help alleviate any doubts at the flash wedding. That was why he didn’t stop to propose. Not because he wanted to get his cock into her tight ass so bad he’d give up just about anything to get there.

“Here, darlin’” John lifted her hands and brought them to her cheeks. “Spread yourself wide for me. I want to see every bit of you before I fuck that sweet ass.”

Felicity dug her fingers into her bottom cheeks, wincing at the sting of her abused skin, and pulled them apart. Eyes closed tight, she tried not to think about the fact he could see every inch of her most private places. Especially when he growled. Oh God. Her fingers trembled, and she buried her face in the quilt.

  Vulnerable much?

As she fought to continue to hold the position, his hot, moist breath burned and he licked his way from her clit to her entrance and back again. Flames followed his tongue back to her bottom where he tickled the rosette and then worked back to the front. Nothing in her life so far had prepared her for this. Not Pierre whose gentlemanly spankings and lovemaking had been well past adequate, but she’d never know this level of arousal existed.

Pushing her late husband out of her mind, she focused on the present. On the tongue now poking its tip into her bottom and the fingers doing something to her clit.

Tightening, pinching, a dull pain getting sharper. What was he doing? Her eyes opened in shock.

His hand came around her shoulder, holding some sort of little remote control, and he pressed the single button. She struggled to speak, to ask what, where, but the low buzzing answered at least one of her questions and she screamed as her clit became engulfed in the tight pinch of the clit clamp… and vibrated.

She gripped her own ass while John licked his way into her bottom hole, easing the way for the finger replacing it. The vibrations on her clit increased. Multi-speed? And as she started to fall over the edge, his fingers were replaced by the blunt, slippery, latex-covered head of his cock.

Spinning out of control, she lost her fears and the burn of the cock forcing its way into her bottom accelerated her climax, amped it up to send her flying through the darkness. When his cock breached the ring of muscles, he slid in, then out, then in, a bit at a time, each throbbing drive sending her into another level of orgasm. When he paused, balls slapping her pussy, her hands fell to her sides, and she panted.

“Darlin,” he murmured in her ear, “you’re so tight, this isn’t going to last long.”

“I-I…” The vibration in her clit climbed another step, and she blacked out. At least she thought she did. Lightning flashed behind her eyelids and thunder crashed in her ears. Nothing else existed but the buzz and the driving thrusts of the man fucking her ass, until she shrieked again and he roared as his cum filled the condom and set her ass on fire.

  Lightning and Thunder. The sign.

  Then… she did black out.

  Chapter 12

Earl!” I’m up here! Help.” Audrey clung to the wood frame of the window, one leg dangling in midair.

  He tipped his Stets
on back and shook his head. “Audrey, I know you’re up there. Everyone in town knows. What we don’t know is how to get you down.”

She wobbled and gave a little shriek. “Think fast! I can’t leave through the door because Madam Mona left a man guarding it in the hallway, but I stuck a chair under the knob so he can’t get in. Why is everyone out in the street?”

Before he could answer, a crash echoed from behind her and she swung her other leg out and stepped onto the narrow ledge, scooting to the right.

A man peered out and gaped. “Lady, I don’t know what you think you’re doing, but if you fall and break your neck, some man is gonna be mighty disappointed. Mona don’t cotton to corpse loving no matter how purdy.” He reached for her arm and she jerked it away,

“You leave her alone,” Earl shouted. “Audrey be careful.” Her perch didn’t appear any too secure and her grip on the decorative wood strip above her head even more precarious.

A man in a black jacket parted to reveal a silver embroidered gray waistcoat bulging over his belly and greasy black hair stringy over beady brown eyes, shoved him back. “I won the auction fair and square. That little lady is mine for the night.” His torn sleeve from the fight didn’t add much to his fancy outfit.

A blustery, skinny young man Earl recognized as a rancher’s kid shoved him. “I already told you. I won. I bid three hundred dollars and my daddy’s pocket watch.”

The first man took a swing and clipped the skinny rancher’s son and the fight picked up again. In a matter of seconds, nobody but Earl watched Audrey in her window. He shook his head again. Madam Mona and the guy grabbing for Audrey made it impossible to get to her on the inside without risking one of them getting shot. With the crowd occupied with the fight, either participating or shouting, nobody on the outside would try to stop them. Opening his arms, he stretched them out.

  “Jump. I’ll catch you.”

She let go of the window and fell into his arms, twining hers around his neck.

“Hold on tight, darlin’.” Clutching her, he raced for his horse and tossed her into the saddle, and leapt up behind her. Slapping the reins, he bent low and galloped out of town and rode about halfway to the ranch before pulling up and lifting her down and leading her over to a big boulder, where he sat. Drawing her over his lap, he flipped her chemise up and bared her cotton-covered bottom, trying to ignore the invitation offered by her split drawers at least until he’d made her pay a little for all the worry she’d caused him. “This is for your own good.”

“Then what happened?” Suzy flipped over the last page as if expecting to find more words on the back. “You can’t leave me hanging like this.”

John chuckled. “You don’t think the readers know what happens next?” He plucked the sheaf of papers from her hands. “You asked for a romantic element. I gave you one.”

She flopped against the back of the sofa. “Darn you. Next time I want to see the spanking!”

Felicity tapped at the door and came in. “Knock knock. Everyone ready to go out to dinner?” John hugged her and gave her a kiss. Her cheeks were cold, coming in from outside, but her warm lips brushed his and his temperature rose high enough for both of them. When he released her, she straightened the jacket of her rose-colored suit. “Hi, Suzy, don’t you look nice?”

The two women brushed cheeks and he shook his head. His editor’s early arrival had caught him off guard, but to her amazement, he had a full manuscript to give her.

“You, too,” Suzy said. “I was just reading the last page of Legend of the Circle X, but I think we need a new title. Your boyfriend has moved into a whole new genre. Why do I think he had inspiration?”

Felicity beamed. “Everything he writes is inspired. I’m halfway through his second novel and loving every word.”

Heat suffused his face and John grabbed his hat. “We’re going to be late.” He helped Suzy into her coat and Felicity into the wrap she had over her arm. “Now will you tell us where we’re going?” Felicity clucked as she took his arm and moved down the front steps. “It has to be Denver, unless someone has opened a fine dining restaurant in Corbin’s Bend.”

They walked past his truck and to the sidewalk, where Lightning and Thunder waited, their bridles lit with tiny white lights. He lifted her into Thunder’s saddle while Suzy slipped past them. Mounting Lightning, he clucked his tongue and rode two houses away, to Roy and Teri’s. Felicity followed, her silence meaning either she was in awe or thought he’d lost his mind. Either worked for now.

When he rode up their neighbor’s walkway he slipped his leg over the saddle and helped her down. A blanket of stars filled the sky on the perfect, cold night.

“John, have you gone crazy? Horses in Corbin’s Bend? What are we doing?” She looked around. “What will Roy and Teri think when they get home?”

“They’re home. Look.” John chuckled and led her into the middle of the lawn, where Mason jars hung from the tree flared to life. The front door opened and their neighbors, including Roy and Teri and their little Ben, and many of her coworkers from the hospital flooded out onto the porch. Suzy joined them, standing next to Brent. John had never felt so nervous in his life. He’d either cement their relationship or wind up with so much egg on his face he’d have to leave town in humiliation.

Especially because Mr. and Mrs. Carson were among them. How Brent managed that, he’d never know but he’d always be grateful.

Felicity whispered, “What is going on here?”

Dropping to one knee, he pulled a box out of his pocket and opened it. “Felicity, will you make me the happiest cowboy on Earth and be my wife?”

She stared down at him a long moment and out of the clear sky, a clap of thunder echoed, followed by a flash of light.

John frowned. “That can’t be lightning. There are no storms predicted all week.”

Felicity clasped his hand and laughed. “It was lightning. Lightning and thunder.” A tear slipped down her cheek, but her smile lit her face. “I’d be honored to be your wife, John.” He slipped the ring on her finger and kissed it. “So,” she murmured, “is this an engagement party?”

“No,” called out Ben from the porch. “It’s a flash wedding!”

John stood and lifted her into his arms, carrying her toward their friends and their ceremony. “I think Suzy may want to move here soon,” he said, mounting the steps. “She was awfully enthralled with my almost spanking scene.”

“Good. I highly recommend Corbin’s Bend for anyone looking for a happily ever after.”

  Chapter 1

Kelly Carmichael just inserted the key into the lock of her apartment when she heard her cell phone ringing from the bottom of her purse. She couldn’t reach it with her arms full of patient files she had to update that evening. Quickly opening the door, she slammed it shut with her foot and dropped everything on her small dining room table. Turning her purse upside down, she grabbed her still ringing cell phone, sure it was going to go to voicemail before she could answer.

Glancing at the number, she saw the call was from a number in Colorado, the same area code as Uncle Brent’s phone. She couldn’t imagine who would be calling from there and briefly wondered if everything was all right with her father and uncle. All family numbers were in her contact list and their names would have come up on her screen.

“Hello, this is Kelly.” She thought she should give her name so the caller would know it was her and save them the trouble of having to ask for her.
