  CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE

Christine lifted herself up on her elbows to see Scott going down on her. He knelt between her legs and she gasped when she felt his lips and tongue on her.

Scott laved his tongue down her pussy, licking her hot, wet folds and teasing her clit in slow, tight circles. He slipped the engorged nub between his lips and began to suck and nibble at her. Christine panted and spread her legs wider for him. She needed to feel him inside her, sliding in and out of her body.

Christine let out a cry when Scott pushed his stiffened tongue into her slit. Her hips began to move as he fucked her with his tongue, his thumb moving in slow circles around her swollen clit.

Christine arched her back as Scott grabbed her breasts and tugged hard at her sensitive nipples. He teased and tormented her pebbled nipples, pinching them and playing with them between his fingers.

Christine dug her nails into the covers, thrashing her head from side to side. Scott was driving her out of her mind with his skilful mouth and hands.

Scott lapped greedily at the juices squirting out of her tight, quivering pussy. His tongue worked furiously inside her, licking every drop of her sticky, feminine juices.

He gripped her hips and fucked her harder with his tongue. He drove her to the brink of an orgasm and pulled back abruptly.

Christine cried out in frustration. She was so close.

Scott knelt between her legs and slowly licked his way up her body. He swirled his tongue round her navel and kissed his way up to her breasts.

When his lips closed around a throbbing, aching nipple, Christine speared her fingers through his hair and held him to her. She wanted him to take more, take everything.

Scott bit at the swell of her breast, dragging his teeth across her sensitive peak. With his mouth on one breast, he grabbed her other breast with his hand and kneaded it.

Suckling her furiously, Scott pushed her legs up to open her wide for him.

He pushed one finger into her and pumped languidly. Christine moaned as he slid another finger inside her. She was growing so wet, and she could feel her juices trickling down the inside of her thigh.

Scott pushed a third finger inside her, stretching her deliciously. She took a deep breath and relaxed her muscles. Scott kissed her as he stroked in and out of her body. He curled his fingers inside her, massaging that sensitive spot at the roof of her channel.

Scott pulled his fingers out of her pussy and fondled her breasts. He was smearing her moisture over her hard, aching nipples, and she closed her eyes at the erotic sensation.

Guiding the tip of his cock to her entrance, Scott paused and inhaled a ragged breath.

He gripped her hips and drove his massive cock deep into her. Christine let out a cry at the sudden jolt of pain.

He had prepared her and made sure that she was ready for him. But she still wasn't prepared for the sheer size and girth of him. He was huge, hard, and so powerful.

Christine whimpered when she felt Scott withdraw slowly from her. He slid himself all the way out before pushing very slowly into her body. She moaned in pleasure as he fed his cock inch by inch into her pussy.

“You feel so amazing, Christine,” he gritted out.

His restraint was shredding but he forced himself to take her slowly. He wanted her to feel only pleasure, not pain.

“I won't break,” Christine said hoarsely. “I want more, Scott. Take me, take me hard and deep...”

Scott sucked in a breath and in one forceful thrust, he buried himself to the hilt inside her.

Christine gasped, feeling herself being stretched and filled. It was a delicious, wonderful feeling. The fleeting pain gave way to pleasure, and Christine sighed and wrapped her legs around his hips.

They fitted together so perfectly, and this just felt so good, so right. They belonged together, and they belonged to each other.

  CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR

Scott's thrusts became faster and harder as her body adjusted to his size. He stroked in and out of her as she clung to him. Her face was flushed and she looked so beautiful, naked and writhing beneath him.

Scott rolled Christine onto her belly and pulled her hips up. He groaned as he pounded into her from behind. Their flesh slapped wetly together, and Christine buried her face in the pillow to muffle her cries.

Scott bent down and kissed the tip of her ear. He nibbled at her sensitive lobe, and kissed slowly down her spine.

Christine turned and Scott took her mouth, pushing his tongue past her soft, plump lips as he fucked her.

Christine moaned as he fondled her swaying breasts. She grew impossibly wetter as he massaged her clit and stroked every inch of her luscious, curvy body.

Christine shivered when she felt his teeth graze her soft skin. She tilted her head to expose her neck for him. Her muscles were clenching and tightening, as Scott drove himself deep into her.

He could feel her coming. Her body began to tremble as he moved faster and deeper inside her.

Scott bit down at the base of her neck and Christine shattered completely with a scream.

She cried out hoarsely as she came repeatedly. Scott sank his teeth into her flesh, holding her in place as he took her and claimed her.

Scott grabbed her tightly, possessively as he shot his seed into her body. Christine whimpered at her final orgasm, her entire body shuddering before she collapsed face down onto the mattress.

Scott wound his arms around her and pulled her to him. They lay unmoving on top of the covers for a long time. The sound of their heavy breathing gradually subsided and Scott kissed her shoulder and cheek tenderly.

“You are mine, Christine,” Scott said, pressing a kiss to her forehead. He paused and added, “I marked you.”

  She blinked. “Marked?”

“Yeah. You wear my mark. Every shifter can see that you're my mate,” he smirked.

“Oh” She touched her neck. “Is that...why you bit me?”

“Partly.” He grinned. “I like biting you. I also enjoy kissing, licking, tasting every inch of you.”

  She punched his arm.

“I'm yours, Christine,” Scott said softly. His kiss was sweet and gentle, conveying the depth of his feelings for her. “You and Darren, the two of you own my heart.”

Scott broke off their kiss suddenly, swinging his legs over the side of the bed and jumping up.

  “What's wrong?” Christine asked, alarmed.

  “Darren's awake.”

She stared at the baby monitor. There was no sound.

“I heard him,” Scott said, throwing on a pair of sweat pants and rushing out the door.

She grabbed his t-shirt and slipped it on. Hurrying into Darren's room, she saw Scott lift Darren from his cot. The boy was kicking and punching the air, his little face all screwed up. Christine recognized the look on her son's red face. He was filling his lungs with air, preparing to unleash the mother of all screams on them.

“There, there, I got you,” Scott said softly.

Darren whimpered and opened his eyes at the sound of Scott's voice. He looked surprised and pleased to see Scott. A smile replaced the scowl on the baby's face.

“You're right,” Christine said, clucking her tongue at her son. “He was about to explode. You defused the bomb just in time.”

Scott chuckled and cuddled the baby lovingly. “He just bombed his diapers, that's all. Don't worry, buddy. I'll change you.”

  “Are you sure…?”

“Of course I'm sure,” Scott said smugly. “He's my pup.”

Christine offered her help again, but Scott waved her away.

“I got this. I know how to change a diaper. Really, how hard can it be?”

  CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE

Christine gave Scott a long, lingering kiss at the door. She was breathless by the time Scott released her. He grinned and planted a big, loud kiss on Darren's head.

“Stay in the house,” Scott said, giving her a quick hug. “If you need anything, you can contact Hayle
y, Laura or...”

“I know,” Christine assured him. “I have all their contact numbers. I'll call any of your human pack members if I need anything. But I have everything I need. There's food, milk, diapers, toys...” She smiled. “I won't need to step out of the house.”

Scott nodded. “I'll be back soon.”

“Be careful. Please be safe,” she whispered. She knew how difficult and dangerous the mission was. The Sentinels were going to take down the Duskfall pack today.

After giving Darren and her another kiss and hug, Scott was gone. Christine stood at the door and watched until his car turned the corner. Stepping back into the house, Christine put Darren in his playpen and went to clear away the dishes and cups from the breakfast table.

She was about to get Darren ready for his bath when there was a sharp knock on the door. Frowning, Christine peered through the peephole and saw a long wooden stick.

  “What?” she gasped.

The stick quivered and rapped on the door again.

“Stop that, Boris!” Christine heard Yaya's strident voice. “Press the doorbell. Oh, don't look at me like that! You're a flying broomstick, for God's sake. You can jolly well reach the doorbell yourself!”

Christine opened the door to see Boris hovering in the air and taking aim at the doorbell. His bristles shook as he charged forward to give the doorbell a vicious jab.

“Hi, Yaya, Boris,” Christine said. She stood stiffly at the door and didn't invite Yaya and Boris in.

Yaya snatched Boris out of the air and made him stand at attention beside her. “Hello, Christine. Is Scott at home?” Yaya asked without preamble.

  “No. He just left.”

Yaya looked down the street with a troubled expression. “Did he say where...”

“I don't think I should be talking to you. I'm sorry, Yaya,” Christine said, biting her lip. “I think you and Boris should leave.”

Yaya turned and canted her head at her. Boris stopped fidgeting and Christine winced. The broomstick seemed to be staring at her in shock and disbelief. She knew that broomsticks didn't have eyes, but she could feel Boris's wounded gaze on her all the same.

“Ah, Scott thinks I betrayed his whereabouts to the Duskfall wolves,” Yaya said at last.

  Christine swallowed painfully. “Didn't you?”

Yaya sighed. “The wolves don't trust us witches.”

Christine gripped the door. She should just close the door in their faces, but she wanted to hear what Yaya had to say. She wanted to believe that Yaya was innocent.

“Some witches find it profitable to align themselves with the more powerful packs in town. But I prefer to stay out of the wolves' business,” Yaya said, dusting her cloak.

  “So you didn't...”

“I never told anyone anything about anyone or anything,” Yaya said firmly.

Boris raised his bristles and made a cross over where his heart was supposed to be. In the middle of his handle.

Christine blew out a breath and opened the door a little wider. “What do you want with Scott? He's not at home now, but if you have a message for him...”

“We had a deal,” Yaya said with a shrug. “But I suppose the deal's off now.”

  “What deal?”

“He wanted my help. He figured he couldn't do it alone.”

Christine stared at Yaya. “Do what alone?”

“Destroy the monster. We were going to work together to destroy the monster,” Yaya huffed. “But if he doesn't trust me...” The witch shrugged and mumbled, “I guess I'll just have to do it myself. I need to find a human though...” She snapped her fingers and turned away. “Come on, Boris. We have some hunting to do.”

“Yaya! Wait!” Christine ran after them. “You can't go after that monster on your own. It's too dangerous! That creature can't be killed! I threw everything at it. I even stabbed it, repeatedly, with my kitchen knife, and it didn't die! Yaya, are you listening to me? It. Can't. Die!”

“I know.” Yaya looked her straight in the eye. “That's why I have to help it die.”

  CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX

Scott walked into the Sentinels' headquarters and went straight into one of the meeting rooms. Grayson and four lieutenants were already seated around the conference table.

Scott took his seat beside Grayson. He already knew what Grayson was about to say. But the four lieutenants didn't.

It would be a surprise attack. Scott had planned the attack with Grayson late last night. After making sure that Darren and Christine were both sound asleep, he had spoken to Grayson on the phone and they had decided that it was no point holding off the attack.

The other packs would see any delay on their part as a sign of weakness and disunity. They would see that there were no consequences, no payback for targeting a high-ranking Sentinel. The Sentinels would be seen as an easy target, and easy targets attracted predators. The other packs would join in, and it would be a feeding frenzy, with each pack hoping to get the biggest bite out of the Sentinels.

The Sentinels had to strike back and strike hard.

Just four lieutenants would lead the attack teams. They would attack the Duskfall compound from four directions and cut off all their escape routes. No one would be allowed to escape. The commands would come from Grayson and Scott directly.

“Mark, Ari, Teresa, Leon,” Grayson said to his four lieutenants.

  “Alpha,” they answered.

Mark and Teresa were senior lieutenants, and Ari was a junior lieutenant. Leon was a newly appointed Sentinels lieutenant. He was part of the Red Razor pack, the pack that Grayson had taken over just a few months ago. Grayson had defeated and destroyed the old Alpha of the Red Razor pack. Most of the Red Razor wolves had pledged their allegiance to Grayson as their new Alpha and joined the Sentinels. Some had left to join other packs, and a few had been banished.

Grayson rotated his lieutenants, spreading out the responsibilities and workload. He sometimes assigned difficult missions to new lieutenants so that he could see their potential and capabilities. Grayson was a fair leader and he gave everyone a change to shine and prove his or her worth.

“Leon, Ari, you will each lead a team and take your orders from Scott. Mark and Teresa, your teams will cover the south and west side of the Duskfall compound,” Grayson said.

The lieutenants hid their surprise and nodded. “Yes, Alpha.”

Scott smoothed out a piece of paper on the table. It was an aerial photograph of the Duskfall compound. “Ari, your team will be here. There is a gate here. Cut off their escape.”

  “Yes, Beta.”

“Leon, your team will come with me. We will attack the compound from the east,” Scott said.

“Why weren't we informed about this earlier?” Leon blurted out. “I mean, don't we need time to prepare for the attack?”

Grayson leaned forward and said, “We are prepared. The Sentinels are always prepared.”

“You should have given us some notice,” Leon said under his breath.

  “Why?”

Leon met Grayson's steely gaze for a moment before flicking his eyes away quickly.

“This is my first mission as a Sentinels lieutenant, that's all,” he mumbled.

“You're right, Leon,” Grayson said suddenly. “I should have told you of my plan earlier. You may leave the room, Leon. Scott will lead your team instead. You just have to take your orders from him.”

Leon jerked his head up and tried to stutter a reply but Grayson dismissed him with an impatient wave of his hand. “You have shown promise and potential as a Sentinels lieutenant, Leon, and I was hoping to groom you for senior leadership positions. But this is a very important and critical mission. I don't want any doubts and dissension. Dismissed!”

Scott left the room with Ari. A dozen lieutenants were already assembled outside the meeting room. Scott called three senior lieutenants over and told them, “You will take your orders from Ari. You guys will come in from the north. We will take out the Duskfall pack toda
y.” Even though the three senior lieutenants outranked Ari, they showed no surprise or displeasure at being under a junior lieutenant's command. They nodded at Ari and Scott, and saluted.

  “Ari, you ready?”

  “Yes, Beta!”

  “Go.”

Scott barked his orders to the next three lieutenants, and they moved out swiftly. Each lieutenant would have his squad ready in a few minutes.

Scott saw Leon breaking away from the group and running off in another direction.

“What the fuck,” Scott muttered. “A deserter.”

Scott scowled. Leon had showed promise as a lieutenant, and he had seemed so eager to prove himself to the pack. Maybe he wasn't ready to be a leader, but he had always been a good soldier.

He had no time to deal with Leon now. But after this mission, Leon would have to face the very serious consequence of his cowardice.

Scott tapped his earpiece and barked. “Let's move out!”

  CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN

Christine forced herself to step back once she handed Darren over to Laura. “Thanks for babysitting him,” she told Laura.

“Thank you for letting us babysit him!” Sophie cried, jumping up and down with excitement beside her mother. She took Darren's chubby hand and held it lovingly to her cheek. Christine smiled at the exuberant little girl. She was sure that Sophie would make a wonderful big sister one day.

“Take your time,” Laura said, grinning. “When you finish your chores, you should treat yourself to a nice bubble bath. Pamper yourself. You need a little me-time every now and then. Don't worry, Darren will be fine with us.”

Christine gave a shaky smile and hurried away from Laura's house. Mark and Laura's house was just a few doors away, and she knew that Darren would be safe there. She'd asked Laura if she would babysit Darren for a few hours while she did some thorough spring-cleaning. She hated lying to Laura, but she couldn't possibly tell Laura what she was going to do.
