“Then it’s settled. You are our Alexis. You’re one of us,” Myra said.
Then she said, “You all know Annie. She’s also one of us now. I think she has proved that she belongs to our little group. She performed admirably in Alexis’s revenge. We couldn’t have done what we did without her help. Please welcome her to the Sisterhood.”
The women pushed their chairs back and walked around to where Annie sat. They embraced her, kissed her on the cheek. Congratulations rang in the air.
Annie beamed as she reached across to squeeze Myra’s hand.
“Welcome to the Sisterhood, Annie,” Myra said.
“What’s our next…” Annie struggled for the word she wanted, “gig?”
“Normally what we do is choose a name out of the shoe box but this time we don’t have to choose. Our next adventure is on Yoko’s behalf. We will adjourn now and reconvene in one month, at which time we will come up with a suitable solution for Yoko’s revenge.”
Kathryn clapped Yoko on the back. “That gives you a whole month to seduce old Harry. Feel free to call us at any time of the day or night.”
“You’re too late!” Yoko giggled.
“You did the deed?” Isabelle said, shock ringing in her voice.
“You bumped uglies in the night!” Alexis drawled. “Well, damn. When?”
“Just you never mind,” Yoko said.
“And how was it?” Nikki weighed in.
“How many words do you want?” Yoko said, smiling from ear to ear.
“One will do, dear,” Myra said.
“Spectacular!”
“Spectacular is good,” Annie said.
Charles could feel his ears heating up. He tried not to laugh but a small sound escaped him. Yoko looked up at him and winked. He gave her a thumb’s up.
“I think this meeting is adjourned. I’ll see you all one month from today. Run along, girls!” Myra said, making shooing motions with her hands.
When the door to the war room closed behind the young women, Myra turned to Annie. “What do you think, Annie?”
“I love them all. I can’t wait till the next meeting.”
“The time will go quickly since you’re going to go cross country with Kathryn. Trust me, you are going to have the time of your life.”
“How can I ever thank you, old friend?”
“Just be happy, Annie, just be happy.”
Charles stepped down and hugged Annie. “Welcome to the Sisterhood, Annie.”
