Queen of NOLA Page 14

by Kimmie Easley

  Wendy.

I take in my surroundings. Lucky and all of his favorite women, plus Drew are watching him stick Phillipe’s tiny feet on the grass. He keeps pulling them up to his padded bottom.

My heart is no longer dead and cold. There’s no room. It’s bursting at the seams with family and unconditional love. Hope and opportunities. Joy and chances. I’m overflowing with family.

  Solid family.

  My heart is full.

Lucky gives Phillipe a large kiss and passes him to Joyce to entertain the two women. Tilly is a grandma like no one ever imagined. She loves on him and kisses the top of his forehead as she takes a big whiff.

  “Happy?” Lucky asks.

“Couldn’t be happier,” I respond with a lazy smile.

His dimples shine and Lucky’s eyes dance with anticipation. “Well, I have a question that might change that.”

  THE END
