She jerked, came, cried out again with a piercing yell and still he teased, licked, fucked until her mind started to float, her body a strange anchor that she seemed to looked down on as Griffin slowly released his hold on her and carried her into the bathroom.
Never actually unconscious, Katelyn came to in Griffin's giant bathtub, her back against his broad chest as his hands soothed up and down her body. He didn't speak, just made little sounds of pleasure, like a dove cooing at her from its garden perch.
It was the most beautiful sound she'd ever heard. She could only think of one thing better – Griffin telling her he loved her.
"Are you back, pet?"
She nodded, sensing that he would soon leave her yet again. She wondered if he would permit her to speak before he did. She turned her head, lips parting -- he kissed her. She pulled back, tried to hold another kiss at bay with a pleading look. Griffin shook his head, captured her chin and kissed her again.
"Please," she managed to whisper between kisses. She knew, deep down, he wouldn't allow her to talk to him before he disappeared that morning. He didn't want her to say the words that would ruin it, that would force him to send her away.
He didn't want to hear that she loved him because, for some reason, Griffin Montgomery couldn't play with the pets that loved him, just the ones he paid.
Blinking back tears, she watched him leave the tub and dry off, all the warmth and kindness leaving his face before he walked from the room.
