Carter looked at Beau. Corinne could tell they were having a silent conversation about it. Beau turned to her and she nodded. She loved the idea!
It was Dave who stepped in. “Don’t get carried away, just yet. I say you should all think it over, talk about it and no one should feel any pressure if they don’t like the idea.”
Corinne nodded. The logistics would be a nightmare, but she still loved the idea. Looking around it seemed that the others did too. Maybe it would pan out, but they didn’t need to decide right now. What she wanted most right now was to go home. She’d loved this, but she wanted Beau to herself now.
He caught her eye. It seemed he felt the same way.
“This has been awesome guys. Thank you all for sharing this moment with us, but we’re going to go home.”
Everyone congratulated them again as they left. Chance helped Beau into his truck and drove them back down to the cabin. Once they had Beau settled on the sofa with Ruby sitting beside him, Corinne walked Chance to the door.
“Thanks, Chance. Thanks for everything.”
He nodded. “I want to thank you, too. You’ve made all the difference. You’ve changed my life for the better and I don’t think you even know it.”
She smiled. She hadn’t known it, but now he said it she could see what he meant. “I think we’re all affecting each other’s lives for the better and I couldn’t be happier.”
He nodded. “I predict blue skies ahead, but there is still one dark cloud I want to deal with.”
Corinne thought she knew what he meant. “Guy Preston?”
He nodded.
“You think it was him, too, don’t you?”
“I think he had something to do with it, and I can’t let that go.”
She put a hand on his arm. “Please don’t do anything stupid?”
He smiled. “I won’t. I’m just letting you know that he’s not going to get away with it.”
She nodded.
“Help!” called Beau from the living room. They could hear Ruby giggling.
Chance smiled. “Get back to them. I just wanted to let you know.”
“Thanks, Chance.”
She had to laugh when she went back in and saw Ruby sitting on Beau’s chest tickling him. “Help me!” he shouted.
“No, help me!” said Ruby.
Corinne laughed and started to tickle him, too.
“Hey! I thought you were supposed to be on my side!”
She laughed. “I am. We’re a family, we’re all on each other’s side. Sometimes you’re the tickler and sometimes you get tickled, but we’re all in it together no matter what, and you’d do well to remember that.”
As he smiled, his eyes told her he understood. It wasn’t going to be plain sailing from here on out. Life didn’t work that way, but he needed to understand that they were in it together. There were no sides, and he didn’t need to go putting himself on the outside. Ever again;
A Note from SJ
I hope you enjoyed Beau and Corinne’s story. If you’d like to leave me a review, I would very much appreciate it. And please consider letting your friends know about the book if you feel they might like it. If you’re interested in following the Remington brothers as they each find love, there are more books to look for:-
Mason is the first in the series. A second chance romance with Gina - the girl he loved and lost.
Shane is the lovable rogue who meets his match in the feisty Cassidy.
Carter is just a big old sweetheart with a big crush on country singer Summer Breese.
Chance is holding out for his own three book spinoff – that may take me a while! In the meantime, you’ll see glimpses of him in my Summer Lake series, too. If you haven’t read them, you can get started for FREE.
Emma and Jack in Love Like You’ve Never Been Hurt FREE!
Holly and Pete in Work Like You Don't Need the Money
Missy and Dan in Dance Like Nobody's Watching
Smoke and Laura in Fly Like You've Never Been Grounded

PS – Project Semicolon
You may have noticed that the final sentence of the story closed with a semicolon. It isn’t a typo. Project Semicolon is a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and love to those who are struggling with depression, suicide, addiction, and self-injury. Project Semicolon exists to encourage, love and inspire. It’s a movement I support with all my heart.
"A semicolon represents a sentence the author could have ended, but chose not to. The sentence is your life and the author is you." - Project Semicolon
This author started writing after her son was killed in a car crash. At the time I wanted my own story to be over, instead I chose to honour a promise to my son to write my ‘silly stories’ someday. I chose to escape into my fictional world. I know for many who struggle with depression, suicide can appear to be the only escape. The semicolon has become a symbol of support, and hopefully a reminder – Your story isn’t over yet
