“Dammit. See, what you’ve done? You brought them, and my boobs wake up.” She stomped over, grabbing one of the little girls with a snarl then tempered with a smile down at the baby.
“You’re not gonna whip a boob out and feed them here are you?” Xan asked.
“Enough,” Lula roared. “This is not a circus show. Jenna, take your babies and your boobs, and I don’t mean your mates, though they can be boobs too, home to feed, and take care of your family. Kellen, I’ll need the use of your office for only a moment then I’ll take my err, mates to be, maybe, off somewhere else. Now, everyone who is not a bear and or a dragon, please exit the office. And that means everyone who is not Lula, Atika or Abyle get the fuck out of here. Now, please.” She tacked the last bit on, so she didn’t hurt anyone’s feelings.
“Damn, our little dragon grew some balls. I like it.” Laikyn said. She and Lyric high-fived each other as they turned from the entryway.
“Yeah, well, don’t take any notes from her. You can’t shift into a huge-ass dragon and burn a forest down,” Kellen muttered before scooping up his boys.
“I’ll clean up the mess from your alpha roar,” Lula offered, waving as she spoke. The shattered whiskey bottles reforming, with the spilled liquid gathering and pouring back inside the containers. She even added a couple of full bottles of Kellen’s favorite expensive bottles of Makers.
“See? That right there is a classy female, Xan.” The alpha of the Iron Wolves clapped the other male on the shoulder as they walked out the door, shutting it with a bang behind them.
She stood in the middle of the room with just Jenna and her little family, waiting for them to leave. “Please, my Queen. I need time to talk with them and discuss the future.” Not only that, she needed to bond with them in case her sperm donor decided he was going to pop in and try to force a mating she wasn’t going to be okay with.
“Fine, but you make sure they are aware of everything first.” Jenna pointed an imperious finger at her.
“I would never start our lives out with a lie or even half-truths.” If there was one thing she’d learned in her long life, it was that honesty was very important in a mating and in all relationships.
“Good to know. We also would only ever do so if your life were at stake.” Atika nodded as if what he said was a given.
“Ah, what my brother meant to say was we wouldn’t lie either.”
“No, I said the truth, which wasn’t a lie.”
“Shut up, both of you.” Lula tried not to laugh at their banter, but dearest Goddess, they were cute.
“So, yeah, I think that means I can go, unless you have need of me to eliminate one of these two?” Creed offered, moving closer to Abyle.
“Boy, I wouldn’t if I were you,” Atika rumbled, his bear feeling the threat and need to protect himself and Lula.
“I think I like this one. Want to play with the big boys, do you?” Creed’s skin took on a red hue.
“Not in my office, fucker.” A speaker on the wall barked, Kellen’s voice loud as if he was in the room.
“Are you into watching now?” Creed asked.
The scent of sulfur filled the huge office, making Lula’s dragon antsy. “If you shift into your demon, my dragon will feel the need to protect her mates. Do you want to go there, Creed?”
Creed let out a breath, smoke coming out of his mouth. “I promised my female I’d play nice, but I just want to have some fun, and these two are more than they appear. Aren’t you, boys?”
Abyle and Atika stared at Creed, their entire focus lasered on him as if they were talking to one another, yet not missing a single thing.
“Fine, I’m going, but now I’m gonna have to pop into Hell and rip the head off something, and it’s your fault if Daddy-dearest gets mad.” Creed disappeared in a puff of smoke.
“Uh, Lula, is he speaking in euphemisms, or...?” Abyle asked.
“Nah, his daddy is really Satan, and he is probably, as we speak wreaking havoc in Hell. It’s not like he’s killing good guys, or things. Those in the Hell Realm are there because they’re bad. So, yeah, that’s Creed in a nutshell.” She folded her hands in front of her.
“Nutshell, for sure. Now, how about you come over here and give us a kiss?”
The question came from Atika, but Abyle was grinning in clear agreement. Her lips tingled in anticipation. “How about I whisk us away to a more private place where a nosy alpha can’t see or hear everything?”
The sound of giggling coming through the wall where the intercom was clearly proved she was correct.
Atika could tell by the way Lula kept staring at him and Abyle she was nervous. “Lula, you have no reason to fear us. You say stop, we stop. The only thing we ask is that you don’t disappear like you did last time.”
She sucked in a deep breath, nodding, before she spoke. “Agreed. I was just a little surprised to find you both so soon. I mean, not soon in years, but you know, soon. Gahh, I’m sounding like a twit. What I mean is—”
Abyle pulled their mate into his arms, silencing her the best way known to mankind, kiss the fuck out of her. Step two would be fuck the hell out of her, but that would need to wait until prying wolf eyes weren’t watching, even though Atika was all for doing it now, he was going to need to be the voice of reason.
“Before my brother rips your clothes off of you, maybe we should go somewhere else?” he suggested.
Lula pulled away from Abyle. Her lips were red and wet, fuller from the rough kisses. “Oh, yeah.”
It took the both of them a couple of seconds, and a few slow blinks accompanied with heavy breathing before they got their bearings. Shit, at this rate, he was worried he was going to be the brains of their triad. If so, they were gonna be in for a whole lot of trouble. The thought had him smiling because it was going to be a shitton of fun.
“I don’t like that expression on your face, mate-to-be.” Lula rubbed a finger over his lips.
Atika sucked the digit into his mouth, humming at the sweet flavor even that little bit of her held. “Ah, mi amore, trust me.”
Lula snorted. “Anytime a male tells a female that, they should do just the opposite.”
“Not my female, and you, Lula, are mine.” He nipped the pad of her finger before kissing it.
The shiver that action caused had his dick, which had been hard since he’d first caught sight of Lula, jerking inside his denim jeans.
“Have either of you traveled through space and time?”
He and his brother stared at Lula, then at each other, shaking their head.
“Well, I would be mean and just zap us out of here, but I really want you both to be on your A-game for when we get to where we’re going.” While she was speaking, she blew a puff of smoke in their faces, only it wasn’t offensive smelling but rather sweet like their female.
Atika felt a little drunk as the world spun and lights flashed around them. They’d had some potent moonshine from some of the best makers up in their area, but they’d learned to drink moderately lest they wake up naked, possibly in the wrong place at the wrong time with a loaded shotgun pointed at their head, or junk.
This time, when the world stopped spinning, they weren’t faced with a crazy daddy ranting. “Holy shit,” he whispered, wondering if he was hallucinating or if there were truly two moons.
“Welcome to Fey,” Lula said.
“Like Fey, a town, or—” Abyle was like him, a little awed, a lot freaked out.
“There are many Realms similar to your Earth. This is the home of Jenna, the Fey Queen. She was chosen by the Goddess to watch over many, and this is her world. It’s a refuge for others and well, it’s very close to your home. What do you think?” The usual confidence in her tone was absent.
Atika shook off the unease, knowing they’d have time to explore after they bonded to the one female who had been created for them. “I think this world and ours pales in comparison to you. I do have to ask why you brought us here instead of somewhere on Earth?”
>
Not that it would make a difference, but he wanted to see inside her head.
She shrugged, her eyes locking on his, then his brother’s. “I wanted a place of safety for the three of us. This place can handle whatever transpires and will also make sure none of us are injured, so if I need to be bond to this form, the Realm with insure I am.”
He didn’t like that she felt she couldn’t be herself with them. “Will you show us your dragon?”
Abyle nodded. “I bet she’s as gorgeous as you are.”
“You want to see my dragon? Like the real one, not the human-sized one?”
“There’s a difference?” Atika wasn’t sure why her scent changed from sweet cotton candy to a little sour apple, but he liked both, a lot.
“The dragon I’ve showed the...wolfies and the others isn’t my full size. I didn’t want to scare them.”
Atika snorted. “You’re our mate. Nothing about you will scare us. Well, unless you leave again. No, that won’t scare us as much as piss us off. Come on, show us, and then we’ll show you our other forms.” He made sure to use the plural so she would know there were more than one.
“Fine, but don’t say I didn’t warn you. I’ll start out with the one the others have seen.” Lula took a step back, and then another and another until a good twenty feet stretched between them.
One moment they were facing Lula in human form, the next a gorgeous pink dragon stared down at them. ‘I’m going to fly and then become my true size,” she said clearly as if still in her human form.
A gust of wind nearly knocked he and Abyle over as she launched into the air. He was in awe to see she didn’t need to take a flying leap or run to gain air, just flapped those gorgeous wings, and then she was over them, blocking the dual moons. He thought he was prepared for her to increase in size by two or three times. But...ten, twenty? Sheot, she was huge and even more beautiful. And she was their dragon mate, to love and protect.
“Damn, she’s perfect. And man, she can soar, brother,” Abyle whispered.
“I know. I think I fell in love a little more, if that’s possible.”
His brother crossed his arms over his chest, nodding in agreement. They stood there watching as she flew back and forth, bursts of flames escaping every few minutes. Finally, after about fifteen or so more minutes, she descended, getting smaller and smaller until a tiny pink dragon landed right in front of them.
“That was exhilarating. Can you take one of us up with you sometime?” Abyle blurted.
Atika elbowed his brother, thinking he was a fucking wanker for asking such an insensitive question.
Lula’s form shimmered and then she was in her human form again, wearing clothes, dammit.
“You want to fly with me? Weren’t you scared of how—large I was?” She bit her lip, fear written all over her gorgeous face.
“Mi amore, does this look like we were scared?” Atika moved in front of her, pulling Lula’s body flush with his. There was no way on any Realm she could miss the way his body had reacted to her, no matter what form she was in.
“Is that a pole in your pocket, or are you glad to see me, beary?” Lula grinned up at him.
“We need to get something straight. The name Barry sounds like a weak-ass human who sings weak-ass songs. So, no Barry for us. Second, it’s not a pole, but my dick that needs some attention. I think it’s got an owie that needs kissing.”
She slapped his chest and giggled. He loved that sound and would make an ass out of himself daily if he could hear it more often.
“Hey, if you’re kissing owies, I got one, too.”
“What am I gonna do with you both?” Lula asked, her right arm reaching for Abyle while she kept her left on Atika’s chest.
“Love us. Love us long and hard for the rest of our lives.” Abyle kept his arms around Lula, fearing she’d try to get away again.
“That sounds like a really good plan. Why don’t we go to my place, where I happen to know there’s a bed big enough for the three of us.” She nipped his chin.
A rumble left his throat at the thought of her taking other males there.
“You stop that. I’ve not had a bevy of males here. Could you imagine my mama and Jenna allowing that?”
At the mention of her mother, he and his brother froze. “Ah, Lula, is your mother here, and is she gonna fry our asses for mating with her daughter?”
Lula tapped her chin. “Well, I don’t know. Do you both have proper intentions?”
Atika pushed Abyle back, and lifted Lula into his arms. “If proper intentions mean fucking you every which way, after claiming you good and proper, then yep.”
“Then she’ll be fine, mates-to-be.” Lula reached over Atika’s shoulder for Abyle. “Come on, I need you both.”
Abyle smiled, he and his bear feeling as if their world was finally becoming complete. Of course, they’d yet to show Lula their other forms. Later, they’d do that. Right now, they’d show her how much she meant to them with their bodies. They knew she was older in years, but to them, she was Lula, their mate.
“One more question, Lula. Do dragons mark their mates?” Atika asked, the three of them stopping at his words.
Lula took two steps ahead, turning to face them. “I know that shifters bite their mates on the muscle between neck and shoulder. I can’t wait to wear each of your marks. One on each shoulder. I too, can mark you both in the way of your kind. I would love to see you with my mark, if you approve?”
Atika reached for Lula, her words nearly undoing him. “Ah, mi amore, I want that, all of that more than just about anything.”
After he finished kissing Lula under the two moons, Abyle pulled her to him, taking his time to kiss and murmur he also wanted Lula wearing his claiming mark.
Lula, clearly impatient to start with the claiming, flashed them to her home. Although she didn’t warn them, neither he nor his brother were nauseous. “Do you think that bodes well for us for future travels, or was it because it was on Fey?”
“I don’t know,” Lula answered.
Chapter Six
“We’ll have to do some experimenting when it’s not an important flashing,” Abyle said with a chuckle.
“Why are you laughing?” Lula asked, spinning in a circle nervously around the large living space.
“I just pictured what a flashing could entail and imagined a bunch of nakedness.”
Atika smacked Abyle in the back of the head. “That’s a stupid thing to think about in our mate’s home.”
Lula narrowed her eyes, a puff of smoke coming from her nose. “This is our home, if we’re to be mates.”
The second she finished speaking, her words hit him. “Shit, baby, I didn’t mean it like this wasn’t ours too. However, we haven’t discussed where we’d live permanently. Where do you want to live?”
Lula turned in a circle without saying another word. Her emotions were locked away from him and his twin, unease snaking through the two of them.
He took the time to take in the place she’d called her own for however long she’d lived there. The pieces were large and sturdy, yet feminine. Although they’d hold both his and Atika’s larger frames, they were a far cry from their much more masculine style, that their homes were decorated like, back on Earth. Pinks, blues, and purples made up the color palette, while they’d made use of neutral tones. The colors complemented Lula and her effervescent personality.
“You two can’t live here permanently. We can make this our vacation home.” Lula nodded.
“Baby, we’d never ask you to give up your home for us. We can adjust to living here,” Atika moved forward, wrapping his arms around Lula.
Abyle watched them both, waiting to see how Lula reacted. Her walls began to lower, letting them back in. “Mi amore, you know we’d move mountains for you. The Goddess created us for you and you for us. If living here makes you happy, we’ll live here. If it’s Earth that’ll work best for the three of us, then that’s where we’ll go. No matter where we live, w
e’ll make it work as long as we’re together.”
A single tear fell from her right eye, a gem forming before it hit the floor. Abyle had seen many things that were miraculous, but that right there nearly had him falling on his ass. Atika bent, pinching the large gemstone between two fingers.
“Why?” he asked.
“We weren’t created by the same Goddess. How were you two and I created for one another? It has to be a mistake.” Another tear fell and another.
This time, Atika didn’t let them drop, sipping them with his lips. Neither of them wanted her tears, even if they produced gems of unimaginable value when they hit the ground.
“Lula, your Goddess and ours are from the same place. Surely, they are aware of our connection. The three of us finding one another with a connection so strong can’t be faked or wrong.” Abyle moved behind Lula, lifting her hair to the side, nibbling on her shoulder. Fuck, she tasted like the sweetest cotton candy he’d ever had. It was addicting.
“Listen to my brother. He’s the smartest male I’ve ever met.”
Lula tipped her head back, resting on Abyle’s shoulder. “You’re only saying that because he said what you were thinking.”
Atika bit her bottom lip and groaned. “Well yeah, but he’s also smart as fuck.”
“I got an idea, Lula Love.” Abyle nibbled along her shoulder, trailed his hands down her sides until he reached the bottom of the shirt she wore. Sure, she was magical and could think all of their clothes gone, but he wanted to take their time with her.
“What’s your idea, Abyle Love?” She lifted her arms without being told to do so.
“Well, you see, when our kind mates with their truemate, the Goddess blesses them with a connection that can’t be faked or forced. How about we let our Goddess and yours let us know if they approve? Open yourself to us, heart, mind, body, and soul.” Abyle punctuated each word with a kiss across her shoulder blades. Their little dragon may be a mighty beast in her other form, but she was a tiny petite female who didn’t wear a bra, making him so damn hard he didn’t think he’d last once they had her on a flat surface, sandwiched between them. Goddess give him strength.
