One's True Love Page 3

She watched as Trenton reached into a closet and pulled out a towel. “Come here” he smiled as he held up the towel.

“Turn your head.” she demanded and to her surprise he did as she asked. Kailee stepped out of the shower and Trenton’s strong muscular arms wrapped around her with only a towel between them. Her face flushed as she looked down.

“Your beautiful and even sexier when you blush.” he whispered in a husky and raspy voice into her ear.

“Thank you. Now, do you know where my bag is?” She questioned him.

“I thought you might ask so it’s on the bed.” Trenton smiled. “But I don’t know if you will like what is inside.” He smirked. He had looked in her bag he couldn’t help it, he was curious. He had intended on bringing her an outfit but he wasn’t sure if she would like it or not so he chose not to instead.

“You looked in my bag” She gasped faking hurt.

“Ah…yeah sorry. I …” he began to crumble under her gaze and she thought it a slight bit funny how such a big strong guy could crumble under her words.

Maybe she would play with his heart for a little while after all she was being forced to be here might as well make it fun. “How could you?” She pouted.

“Really I didn’t mean anything by it. I’m sorry.” Trenton murmured.

“No. I can’t believe it, you jerk just … just leave.” she sassed and walked away from a shocked Trenton. She searched through the bag which Trenton had placed on the bed. He was right she wasn’t too thrilled by what she found. Her mother had put mostly skirts and dresses in the bag but she did find at the bottom of her bag two pairs of jeans and two halter tops. Thank goodness. She sighed to herself as she pulled out the delicate and perfectly ripped jeans and black halter top. Her favorite outfit and her mom must have realized it.

She dropped her towel to the floor, not caring that Trenton didn’t leave the room and pulled on a pair of black underwear and matching bra. She could hear Trenton growl low from behind her and she giggled to herself. “What’s the matter big boy, see something you like?” She questioned as she laced her arms behind her to fasten her bra. Before she could pull on her jeans Trenton had made his way to her he twisted her around and slammed her gently to the wall.

“You know I do. So what’s your problem?” Trenton sneered, his jaw was clenched and his hands tight against the wall so she couldn’t escape. “Why won’t you let me touch you and be with you without a fight?” He groaned.

“I was forced here if you have forgotten.” Kailee spat if she was just joking before now she was pissed. “I had a life at home, I had friends. My best friend, Jade and I, were practically glued to each other. I didn’t even get to say goodbye.” She cried.

“Kailee I… I’m sorry. There’s so much you don’t know.” Trenton turned away from her and walked over to the couch and sat with his head in his hands. He should not have to tell her all this, it wasn’t his place; the task usually fell upon the parents. They should have told her or at least the alpha but no their stupid pack does nothing. Now he had no choice it was left to him to complicate her life beyond belief.

  “Then tell me!” She sobbed.

“I will when the time’s right. Now you better finish before Lilly goes crazy.”

“What!” she screamed. “Tell me now; I am sick of not knowing anything. I am sick of being left in the dark about everything!”

“I’m sorry love. How about we talk after dinner?” He hoped this would satisfy her at least for now. He would break some of the news to her.

  “You promise?” she sniffled.

“Promise. Please don’t cry.” He pleaded walking toward the shaking girl. He engulfed her in a hug snaking his arms around her waist. Trenton buried his face in her hair and inhaled her sweet scent. She was intoxicating and smelled delicious.

When he released her, Kailee pulled on her halter top. She pulled on a pair of shoes and walked back to Trenton who now sat on the couch again.

“I’ll see you later, okay.” she told him as he pulled her down so she straddled his legs.

  “Ah… Trent…” she began.

“Shhh.” Trenton cooed as he pulled her closer and inhaled her scent again. He buried his head deep in the crook of her neck. “Would you mind if I kissed you goodbye?” He asked slightly hesitant. Last night he had been so confident in his actions now, he was reserved and shy. He didn’t want her to overreact again and lose her composure.

Kailee didn’t reply she just placed her hand on his jaw and tipped his head up, lightly brushed her lips against his then pulled away.

“Goodbye Trenton.” she smiled as she stood up.

“Take this.” Trenton began. “Buy something…” he bit his lip and left the question hang there for a moment as he slipped a credit card into her hand.

“We’ll see.” She smiled she knew what he really wanted. He wanted her to get something just for his eyes but she wasn’t quite sure if that was really okay yet.

“Get anything you need okay.” he smiled.

Lilly was waiting in the kitchen when Kailee walked down the stairs. “Hey girl you were taking your sweet time weren’t you?” Lilly complained.

“Ah… sorry…um Trenton kept me busy.” she grinned to herself.

“Really?” Lilly looked confused. “I had hoped he would… ah… he has had a rough time until you came along.” she had said until an elbow from a big rippled muscled guy, who was standing next to her, jabbed at her ribs.

“What’s that supposed to mean?” Kailee felt herself get even more confused and out of the loop than ever. Maybe Lilly could provide her with some answers.

“Ah… sorry. um. nothing don’t worry about it. Hey, this is Jake he’s coming with us okay?” she finished.

“Come on let’s get this shopping over with. Trent gave me his credit card.”

  “Oooo!” Lilly squealed.

“He’s in trouble. He knows how Lilly likes to shop!” Jake laughed openly as Lilly rushed to Kailee grabbing her arm and tugging her toward the garage. Jake slowly followed along behind the two girls.

In the garage held a ton of cars. Lilly didn’t hesitate though she knew where she was going. Straight to the one she had always longed to drive wishing it was the one she could use. She really didn’t have her own car she had turned eighteen a few months ago and her parents wouldn’t buy her a car nor did she work so… no car. Jake was going to drive. He walked over to his Hummer and opened the door. The one Lilly really wanted to be in if not drive though was Trenton’s. She really wished she could drive his Lexus LFA. She sighed as she ran her hand over the air surrounding it, not daring to touch the car’s shinny exterior.

“What are you doing?” Kailee questioned giving Lilly a peculiar look.

“Ah…She’s just dreaming.” Jake chuckled. “She knows she can’t touch that car it’s Trenton’s favorite.”

“Hmm.” Kailee shrugged and opened the back door to the bright green hummer. With that they were off to the mall. Surprisingly the mall was nearly a two hour drive. The city was big and Kailee hadn’t expected it with all the trees and such.

“I didn’t realize the house was so far from the city.” Kailee said flatly. She was happier now that they finally had arrived.

“Yeah, we like our space.” Jake chuckled as Lilly elbowed him playfully. They were close, Kailee thought how close who knows but they clung to each other like they were dating that was for sure.

They shopped for hours and ate in between more shopping. Jake grumbled and complained as he followed the two girls around. He really didn’t want to come but Trenton had told him he didn’t have a choice besides he wouldn’t let Lilly go unprotected.

“Hey guys.” A new male voice said coming up behind the trio.

“Preston, Garret.” Jake greeted. Lilly smiled and bounced into Preston and then Garret wrapping them in hugs and kisses on the cheek.

“What brings you…” Lilly had begun then followed their gaze over to Kailee and then back ove
r to Jake. They were there to protect both girls in case a rogue came into the area. It was obvious to her now. Both guys had been watching from a distance most likely the entire time and now… there was a reason which they were close by.

Lilly shrugged it off then helped Kailee pick out everything that she might need, including jeans, shirts, shorts, multiple swimsuits, and even socks and under clothes. Eventually Lilly had even convinced Kailee to pick out a few formal dresses and party dresses for what Lilly had said ‘was just in case.’ Every so often when they figured their arms were too full they would drop off their bags at the car.

Kailee felt guilty buying so many things and at such expensive prices, but whenever she complained about things both Lilly and Jake would laugh at her and tell her ‘don’t worry about it Trenton has plenty of money to spare this doesn’t even make a dent in his bank account.’ Kailee sighed and continued to follow along behind Lilly.

It was getting late and they were going to be leaving soon. So Kailee decided it was now or never to pick out something sexy for Trenton. If she would ever wear it, she wasn’t sure but just in case she figured she would look. She wandered toward the lingerie store. She felt slightly self conscious especially with Jake trailing behind but he decided he would sit by the door on a bench with the other guys.

Lilly thought it a wonderful opportunity for herself as well to picked out a few pieces. “Oh… Jakeee poo.” She cooed and giggled when Jake groaned at the sight of the Lilly’s small form holding up such a skimpy outfit. She was teasing him and Kailee giggled as well. Jake was trying to contain himself as his sexy little mate toyed with him. He knew she had known better than to tempt him in the store, but she didn’t care she enjoyed his suffering and he knew it.

“So… are you too uh… dating?” Kailee pondered.

  “Something like that.” Lilly smiled.

After Kailee and Lilly were finished they continued toward the car with Jake hot on their heels to head back home. Preston and Garret said their goodbyes and hopped on two black crotch rockets. Their engines revved as well did Jake’s Hummer. Lilly sighed and shook her head. She knew the guys would follow. They must have even followed them here. Out of the corner of her eye she watched as the bikes chased after them onto the street.

  Chapter

  Seven

It was dark when the trio returned home. Jake had grumbled into the house with his fists and arms full of bags and dropped them on the kitchen floor.

“You owe me!” He growled pointing a finger at Trenton and scowling. “That was horrible.” He grumbled. He had emphasized every word. If Trenton wasn’t his best friend he knew he would be in trouble for speaking to his alpha that way but he didn’t care at the moment. Trenton just laughed.

Then he thought to himself and groaned. He would be taking all these bags up to his room for Kailee he was sure. He didn’t want any other guy looking in them. “That’s not all of the bags you know that right.” Jake laughed at Trenton’s ‘oh crap’ look.

Kailee opened the door at that moment her arms full of bags her expression tired and bored. “Hey, how was your trip, get everything you needed?” Trenton smiled taking her bags from her arms.

“I sure hope so, your sister’s tiring.” She whined.

Trenton smiled at her “Yeah. I knew she would help you get everything. Come on you can show me what you got.” His smile beamed and his eyes brightened as he scooped her up and carried her tired body up the stairs. “Jake!” he called. “Take the rest of the bags up for me would you.” He knew Jake would grumble but do it just so it would be done.

He carried her up the stairs and then pushed open the door with his foot and dropped Kailee gently onto their bed. He chuckled as she made a slight oomph noise. He dropped the bags on the floor next to the bed and turned toward the door grabbing the ones Jake had brought up for him.

“Thanks.” he laughed. “Make sure no one bothers us.” He growled lowly so quiet that Kailee couldn’t hear he hoped.

“Sure thing, Alpha.” Jake smirked as he walked away.

Trenton returned to Kailee setting the clothes on the bed and placing the empty bags inside one another. “So…” Trenton began. “are you going to show me what you got?” he smirked like a horny pig. He knew how he looked but he wanted her. He needed her. He hoped he didn’t have to wait much longer. He could smell her shift coming soon her body smelling more and more like a wolf every day.

She bit her lip and looked up at him. “Oh… uh. I just got a bunch of clothes; jeans, shirts, shorts, sweat shirts, you know…” She rambled as Trent scooted closer to her.

He pouted. Kailee raised her eyebrow slightly at his cute face. “Well I guess I did get something you might like but…” she trailed off as Trenton jumped on the bed tackling her slightly.

He began tickling her sides lightly, for a moment. Then he trailed kisses down her throat and Kailee froze. She was once enjoying the moment now she wasn’t sure what to really think. “Trent… stop…” she gasped.

“Kailee.” he groaned. “Please just let me please you.” He plead as he continued to suck on her neck softly. She moaned. She loved what he was doing. It felt right and satisfying.

He began to kiss her jaw then up to her soft and delicate lips. He flicked his tongue along her lip as he kissed her and she graciously allowed him entrance to her warm and delicious mouth. He was perched over top of her all his weight on one arm as his other arm tugged at the hem of her shirt. He slid his hand across her soft belly tracing circles around her belly button.

Kailee instantly began to nervously fidget. She pushed at Trenton’s chest eagerly trying to get him away. “Trent… please.” she plead. He pulled his hand out and rolled to the side of her and groaned quietly.

“We need to talk. I shouldn’t have had to tell you this all but…” Trenton began.

  “Well.” Kailee urged.

“Your birthday is coming up right. Eighteen?” He questioned her.

“Err… Yeah. Two days.” She whispered, she hadn’t told him and she didn’t know he knew either.

“Well… your family and mine are among a unique group of…. ah… people.” he breathed ‘people’ really wasn’t the word for it but he was trying to tell her gently.

“What?” she questioned slightly confused. “What are you trying to say?”

“You are ah… let just say a gift of loyalty and treaty between my… ah… pack and that of your parents.” He sighed. He knew she would be angry but he didn’t know what else to do. There was only a short time until she shifted. It would scare her to death if she didn’t know. Her parents should have told her.

“WHAT!” She screamed. “A birthday present for … you?” Her anger was rising and he could sense it.

“Sorry. Your family just like mine is … ah. … werewolves.” He cringed slightly he was afraid of what she would do.

Instead of any reaction he thought to expect she burst out laughing. Laughing he thought, great.

“You got to be kidding me, there’s no such thing.” she breathed through ragged giggles.

“Yes we do and you are one as well. I’m sorry your parents should have told you.” Trenton tried to sooth her but she pushed him away and began screaming again.

“Stay away!” She screamed. “I am not some toy. I am not a gift to be given!” She bellowed as she ran toward the door. Trenton leapt of the bed to follow her. He had just reached the door when she slammed it shut. Man she’s going to be a fast wolf. He thought to himself.

“Dude… What’s wrong?” Jake questioned as Trenton yanked open the door and raced past. He held out an arm to slow him.

“I just told her she’s going to turn into a wolf. She didn’t take it so well.” Trenton breathed through exasperated gasps as he raced down the stairs.

Jake chuckled and quickly turned to follow his alpha in case he needed help to catch her. As he whipped down the stairs he grabbed Lilly at the bottom. “Which way did she go Lil, Trent broke the news.”

/>   “Shit!” Lilly gasped. “That way! I get my parents!” Lilly called as she raced in the other direction.

“Kailee stop. Let me explain!” Trenton called as he raced into the woods to catch his fiancé. She was angry and that would not help him in catching her. She was a beta blood so it gave her an edge.

Trenton reached the edge of the woods and froze for a moment. He tilted his head up and took in a deep breath of the cool air around him. Kailee’s scent drifted into his nose and he smirked. He knew exactly where she was and he would catch her.

Trent raced into the trees tossing his shirt and dropping his shorts as he ran. Another few steps and he lunged up into the surrounding air and shifted. In wolf form he was faster, more agile and limber. His heavy paws dug into the cool earth and he propelled faster.

Kailee was running from the house which caused her so much anger. She could feel the anger must have been building over time because now it was full blown fiery. If he dared come near her she would rip him apart. Why did Trenton have to be such a pig, an arrogant jerk that wanted to claim her as a birthday gift. She was sure it wasn’t her parents idea, they wouldn’t do that to her would they. Her parents must have gone insane, how could they give her away as a gift to some…. stranger?

There’s no way she could believe in werewolves. This house seemed to have some massive friendly wolf population but that didn’t prove anything to her. How stupid does that idiot think she is? And the thought that she was beginning to like him just irked her chain. Now for sure she had known what she needed to do and that was run away. As far away as she could get from this house full of crazies; HOME.

Kailee shivered as the cool breeze whipped her hair around furiously. Argh. She complained to herself. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. She grumbled. How could she be so STUPID to not remember her sweater it’s getting cold and all she wore was jeans and a halter top from this morning. Late, dark, and cold.

Kailee ran as fast as she could, pushing continuously faster until she had nothing left. Her feet were bare and they became cold her teeth chattered and she shivered as she ran. I don’t know where I am going. She thought to herself. Tears welled in her eyes as she ran, blurring her vision.
