Delta's Baby Surprise: A Military Baby Romance Page 9

by Violet Paige

I pursed my lips together. “I thought you said you were going to give me some space.”

“I did. I am. But I needed to see you. It’s been three days, doc. Plus, I have an injury”

I sat on the stool next to the bed and rolled toward him. “And what is that?”

  “See my arm?”

I looked at the firm muscles in his bicep and had to stop myself from licking my lips. He was built of nothing but solid muscle. I remembered exactly how hard and rigid every inch of him was.

“It looks fine to me. You shouldn’t waste the hospital’s time like this. There are real patients here.” I exhaled. “Brett, what are you doing here?” I wanted to sound pissed and angry. Annoyed that he had popped up while I was at work, but my heart was fluttering and my pulse was racing.

“Giving you facts. You work best with facts and science.” My eyes locked on his. Those dark pools of mystery that had already led me somewhere I didn’t think I should go again.

“I-I need more time.” I started to stand, but he reached forward and gripped my wrist.

“I’ll give you as much time as you need, but you’re going to marry me.”

His words made my heart beat faster. I staggered backwards.

“You can’t say things like that. You don’t know that.”

His arm circled my waist, snaking under my white coat. I sighed when I felt his fingers dig into my flesh.

“You know how it feels when we’re together.”

My knees almost buckled. Of course I knew. It was all I could think about.

  I nodded involuntarily.

“I would take you right here and now, doc,” he whispered in my ear. The shivers ran down my spine and curled around to my pussy. I felt my pussy clench with want. “How easy would it be to lock the door and fuck you here?”

I swallowed hard. My mouth watering for him. “Brett,” I whispered. “It’s not about sex.”

“I know it’s not.” He pressed his forehead to mine. “It’s about what we’re meant to be to each other.”

  “You’re going to leave me.”

He exhaled. “Yes. But I’ll come back. I will come back to you, doc.”

I closed my eyes. He didn’t know I had been left before. He didn’t know someone else had promised me forever and left me completely alone. Maybe it was the time I was the one who confessed.

“Sit.” I pointed to the bed.

He furrowed his brow. “I don’t really need an exam.”

“I want to tell you something.”

“All right. I guess that’s fair.” He withdrew his hand from my waist, turning for the bed. It shifted under his heavy weight.

I looked at my feet. I wasn’t sure how to get this out. “There was someone before you.”

I saw his fists tighten on his lap. “Ok. You never said you were a nun.”

I laughed. “No, I never said that.” I finally lifted my eyes. “You tried to explain to me where you’re coming from and I think you need to know where I’m coming from.”

  He sat and listened.

“I haven’t been with a man for two years.” It felt strange to say it. “I swear, I don’t want to talk about him, or acknowledge him, but he made promises to me too. And he broke those promises, Brett.”

He tried to speak, but I raised my hand.

“I don’t miss him. I don’t want him back. But I can’t pretend he didn’t hurt me. I can’t pretend his betrayal didn’t do damage.”

  “I’m not that guy, doc.”

“I know you’re not.” I touched his hand, feeling the warmth of his skin. “But what you’re asking is for me to take a leap of faith that scares me to death. As much as I want to believe you, it’s hard. It’s hard to trust you’re going to come back.”

He took my hands in his and rose from the bed, pulling me to my feet.

“I’ll do whatever it takes to show you I’m coming back.” His eyes blazed. “I want you to have my baby, doc.”

  I gasped. “What?”

“I don’t care about a stupid diagnosis. I don’t care what your doctor told you. You’re going to have my baby.”

I felt my stomach do a somersault. I was speechless.

He kissed me on my cheek. “I’ll give you some more time, but don’t take too much. I want to work on that baby before I leave.”

He opened the door to walk out of the room, and winked.

The door closed, my knees wobbled and I reached for the bed so I didn’t fall. I didn’t know if I’d ever catch my breath again. Did he really say that? A baby? A marriage? I shook my head.

My name was announced on the intercom. “Dr. Forrest, paging Dr. Forrest.”

“Shit,” I muttered. I had to get my act together. I needed to get my head back in the game.

  Nineteen

  Brett

I hiked through the woods after I returned from the hospital. It was a chance to clear my head. I needed to reconnect with the land.

I didn’t know how much time I had to convince Gretchen everything between us was real. What we had was real. Standing there in the emergency room, my hands ached to hold her. My chest tightened when she walked in the room. But I forced myself to control the situation. It was more important to convince that together we could have everything..

The look in her eyes ripped through me.

The family leaders had resisted my attempts to stop the land absorption. I should have suspected. It was their excuse to take control of more land, build their fortunes, exert their force over the others in the area.

But I had another two weeks before I had to bring Gretchen to the next meeting and present her as my fiancée. They wouldn’t be able to deny me then. I stared off the cliff into the distance. She had to agree. She would. She was as deeply mine as I was hers. I closed my eyes, inhaling the cool wind.

All my life I had been searching for something. I thought I had found my calling with the Special Forces unit. I saved lives. I kept the country safe. It took all my energy and focus to lead my team, but ever since I had met Gretchen I was hungry for something else.

I threw a branch off the path and hiked forward. Gretchen had changed everything. Slowly, I was starting to think about what it would be like to stay in Havenville. What it would be like to raise kids with her. What it would be like to take my official position my family’s leader, instead of always shoving it off on someone else.

I watched an eagle soar in front of me. I always thought I used my strength as a Delta, but maybe what I did was use it as my excuse not to embrace what I always had right in front of me.

I shook my head. One thing at time. First, I had to get her back.

  Gretchen

I gripped the steering wheel. I couldn’t believe I was doing this. I must have lost my mind. Too many night shifts had warped my sense of reality. But I knew what I felt.

I knew I shouldn’t have been surprised when I saw him standing on the front porch. He always seemed to know when a car was in the driveway. He had a sixth sense, or just amazing Delta skills.

I slid out from behind the driver side and strolled on the sidewalk.

“Hey.” He grinned from the porch.

“Hey.” I walked to the front steps.

It was there—the pull I felt every time I saw him. Only now I knew it wasn’t because of the intense pheromones we shared. It was love linking them together, bonding us like no two other beings. It was the promise he made to give me a baby and a family. Brett looked at me as if I were whole. He never thought I was broken.

“I’m glad you’re here.” He took a step down so he was standing next to me.

I looked up. “I think we both knew I was going to come back.”

“I tried to tell you.” He winked.

I didn’t know if it made me angry or if it felt so right it set my blood on fire. But before I could take another breath, Brett pulled me to him, his mouth hot and urgent against mine.

He groaned as his tongue slipped in my mouth. I felt a su
dden sense of panic, but I relaxed into him. Nothing had felt sexier. I knew I was happy kissing him.

I tried to breathe as he kissed me, but I was desperate to touch him and have him hold me. Four days away had created a hunger so deep I didn’t know if I could feed it.

“I want to take you inside and show you how much I missed you,” he whispered.

I nodded. I tried to draw him back to my lips.

“I meant everything I said, doc. I want to give you a baby.”

“I want it too. I didn’t know how much I wanted it, until you said it.”

He laughed. “I didn’t think I was meant to be a dad, but now that it’s with you, I want to see you pregnant.”

I sighed. “What if it doesn’t happen? What if it can’t happen?”

He pulled the screen door open. I followed him in the cabin. He locked the door and closed all the blinds. There was a fire in the fireplace.

“Take off your clothes,” he growled.

“Brett,” I argued. “We should talk about it. What if I can’t give you a baby?”

He tugged on my jeans. “I’m going to fuck you tonight, doc. And tomorrow. And every single day until I get my orders.”

  “Oh shit,” I moaned.

He pushed the jeans off my legs and peeled my panties to my ankles. He ran his fingers between my velvet folds, coating his fingers in my slickness.

“Say it,” he commanded. “Say you want me to give you a baby.”

I nodded, unfastening the buttons on my shirt and letting it fall off my arms. I backed up toward the fire, leading Brett to the rug. He tossed a quilt on the floor.

“Give me a baby, Brett,” I moaned as he plunged his fingers inside my pussy. I hissed with pleasure as he pumped them in and out.

“How do you want it, Gretchen?” he asked, dragging my ear between his teeth. He flicked the clasp on my bra and it landed at my feet. I stood in front of him naked.

“Ohh,” I whimpered. I couldn’t find the words. His fingers were picking up the pace and I was rocking back and forth, taking them deeper.

“How do you want me to give you this baby, I asked,” he growled lower this time.

I didn’t want to move, but I dropped to my knees on the quilt. The fire felt good warming my bare skin. I crawled forward on all fours.

  “Like this,” I whispered.

Brett’s eyes were hooded with lust as he climbed out of his jeans and threw his T-shirt across the room.

“You’re so fucking perfect.” He fisted his cock in his hand as he settled behind me. “So fucking perfect.”

I whimpered when he pressed his cock to my pussy. He wedged it deep and then slammed into me.

  “Ohh,” I cried out.

  But he thrust again.

My tits bounced against the quilt. He grunted, stuffing and pumping his giant cock inside me. We were both desperate to reconnect. To feel the heat of our bodies. We were driven with a new goal—make a baby.

He rooted deep in my walls, panting and growing rougher and harder.

“Oh, Brett!” I screamed, looking for something to hold on to. I needed gravity. “Harder,” I urged him. “Give me your baby.”

He slapped my ass and I yelped. Fuck, that felt so good and so naughty. Who was I? I threw my hips back and he spread my knees wide.

“Oh shit, doc,” he groaned. “Watching you. Seeing you.” He grunted.

And then I felt it. His thumb breached that forbidden zone.

  “Ohh,” I whimpered.

  “Do you want more?”

“Yes.” I looked over my shoulder.

“I’m going to come. So enjoy this.” His thumb sank inside my virgin rosebud as we both erupted in an unforgettable orgasm. I’d never felt sensation like that before. It was the most erotic moment of my life.

His cock pulsed, filling me with hot lava while my body spiraled and disappeared off a cliff. His thumb inside me took everything to an incredible new level. My orgasm was faster, deeper, and more explosive. I’d never felt so full.

I moaned with pleasure as we both came down from the high we had been on.

Brett lowered my hips to the quilt. He cuddled behind me, blocking my back from the flames.

“I’m so glad you came back, doc.”

“Me too.” I smiled. “I’m in. On all of it. The wife part. The baby part. The amazing sex part.”

He chuckled. “We aren’t leaving this cabin unless we absolutely have to.”

I rolled on my side to face him. “You do realize I’m a doctor. I have a residency to finish.”

“I know. But when you’re here, this is what we’re doing.”

I stroked the side of his face, sweaty and red from sex. “You promise?” I teased.

  He nodded. “I promise.”

  Twenty

  Gretchen

For two weeks Brett had been a man of his word. We had sex in the shower. In the morning before work. As soon as I got home after work. When we were watching TV. It didn’t matter what distraction I thought we could us preoccupied, we were unstoppable. My body was sore in places I didn’t know could feel so good.

For two weeks I’d had the most mind-blowing baby making sex of my life. And I was totally falling for Brett Jackson. He had fucked me into complete happiness.

I had just finished my last twelve-hour stretch for the last shift. I had another three blissful days off. I was going to spend all of them with Brett inside me, trying to make a baby.

I had left the hospital, driven home, and packed a bag full of lingerie for my weekend. It was hard to believe it had been three weeks since we had met. I felt like I had been with him for three years. I felt as if we knew everything about each other. Maybe it was because we were going to be a family. We had committed to being parents together. Everything else seemed small in comparison.

I pulled up to the cabin in my scrubs. I hadn’t bothered to shower yet, hoping Brett would help me with that when I walked through the door.

He met me on the porch.

  “Hey, baby.”

I threw my arms around him, kissing him as if we hadn’t been together just twelve hours ago. “Hey. Dinner and lots of kitchen sex?” I asked.

He chuckled. “I would love to fuck you right now, but we have somewhere we need to go.”

“What?” Kissing him had started a fire under my skin. I wanted more. And I wanted it now.

“Sit for a second.” He took my hands in his and lowered me to the porch steps.

“I just got here,” I complained.

“We need to set a date to get married.”

My eyes widened. “I don’t understand. What are you talking about?”

“I gave you as much time as I could. I gave you all the time I could. Our family needs you right now. I have to present you as my fiancée. The deadline on the lawsuit is tomorrow.”

I blinked. I heard him speak, but it might as well been my first year in med school. It all sounded foreign.

  “Fiancée? Now?”

“Yes. Before I leave I need to fulfill the contract.”

I stared at him. Every inch of my being was screaming yes. I had been living in a baby making sex bubble for the past two weeks. Sometimes I forgot about the marriage part.

  “Yes,” I answered. “Let’s pick a date.”

He grabbed me and kissed my forehead. “Tomorrow?”

I almost choked. “How about give me two days?”

He laughed. “All right. All right. Now come on, we have to get to the meeting before they start picking apart my family’s property.”

  “But I’m in my scrubs.”

“They’ll love you, doc. Don’t worry about it.”

Everything moved in slow motion as he held my hand and led me into the forest. I didn’t know how long we walked before we stopped in front of a massive home. I never noticed this house before.

My knees began to shake and my heart pounded.

Brett squeezed my hand. “I’ve got you.” He nodded as he pulled m
e behind him.

I followed him up the stairs and waited while he knocked on the door. An older man opened the door and ushered us in. He was expecting us. We walked through a grand foyer and into a room with a large marble table in the center where a circle of people waited.

“Ahh, he did show up.” A woman with bright red hair grinned.

“I told you I would present my fiancée.” Brett stood behind me.

I needed his strength right now. I thought I would faint from the shaking. My stomach lurched and my hand flew to my mouth.

“Pretty.” An older man with grey streaks in his beard winked at me.

Were these people insane? I withdrew my hand and tried to take a deep breath. The nausea seemed to ease.

“See? She’s here.” Brett squeezed my shoulders. “This is my fiancée, Gretchen. We will be married in two days and I’m fulfilling my father’s contract obligations.” He looked at each of the members of the circle. “The land is in good hands. You can fight each other all you want in court, but you won’t shred my family. My father didn’t want that, and neither do I.”

The older man nodded his head. The older woman walked toward us and I couldn’t help but try to back up. I didn’t like the look in the woman’s eyes. She looked like a witch in a fairy tale. But Brett’s chest blocked me from moving. I felt his sturdy frame and felt the shelter of his body. I was safe. I knew he would protect me.

The woman looked at Brett. “So this is going to be your wife?”

“Gretchen, meet Estelle. She’s the matriarch of the Osborn Family.”

“Nice to meet you, Estelle.” I extended my hand, but the woman’s palms immediately cupped my stomach. I looked down at the woman’s hands planted against my belly.

What in the hell was she doing? I wanted to wiggle free, but the warning in Brett’s eyes, told me not to move.

  “You’re marrying Brett?” she asked.

I nodded. It wouldn’t make for good family politics if I told them we just met three weeks ago and I didn’t know what I was signing up for. But it didn’t matter—according to his father’s contract, I agreed to marriage and to start a family with him.
