“Seriously, mom,” she says with an exasperated sigh. “I read the Cosmo sitting on your nightstand.”
“Oh, you little monster,” I holler.
She runs laughing and squealing from the room, her small feet leaving an echoing trail of footfalls as she disappears down the hall.

Riker
It’s been a whirlwind of a few days with Jane as we do interviews and work together, and as much as it surprises me, I’m actually enjoying myself. And I don’t just mean that I’m tolerating it and enjoying the occasional laugh or two, I mean that I’m genuinely having a good time with her, and I look forward to seeing her with every meeting. It has been busy though so I’ve decided to take the night off tonight, and I met up with Mark and Dawson at a club to relax.
They’re friends of mine that I’ve known for a while, and we like to meet up as often as we can to hang out and shoot the shit. They both work on Wall Street, and they’re a bit more conservative than I am—though I suppose that doesn’t take much if I consider my reputation—but they’re still good for a night of fun. So, when they called me up to say that they were taking me out for drinks to celebrate my engagement, I happily agreed. The club we’re at right now is one that we’ve been to before so I know the servers, and when one of them comes over with a tray of drinks, she smirks at me, swaying her hips at me as she walks away.
Mark leans forward with a groan and shakes his head, watching the waitress—I think her name is Amanda? Amy? It doesn’t matter—walk away with a hungry look.
“Shit Mark,” I chuckle, taking a drink and nodding towards her, “You need some help getting your jaw up off the floor or what?”
He and Dawson both share a laugh, and he shakes his head with a sigh, leaning back on the couch. We’re in the VIP section of course so all of our drinks are brought to us and we’ve got our own private seating area-- leather couches and a private server.
“No way, man, she came over here for you, not me. Besides, I don’t think she’s really my type, to be honest.”
Dawson snickers and looks at Mark like he’s got three heads, rolling his eyes and taking a shot from the tray that the server brought over.
“What- Tall, leggy brunettes with killer curves aren’t your type? I think what you mean to say is. She’s out of my league, and I don’t want to embarrass myself by getting shot down in front of my friends.”
Dawson and I share a laugh at that and Mark just waves it off with a chuckle, shaking his head and shrugging his shoulders.
“Maybe, maybe not. Either way she came here for Riker, not for me. And we’re here to celebrate the man’s engagement, so I’m not about to leave you two to fend for yourselves.”
“Right, because we need so much help to get pussy in this place.” I snicker, rolling my eyes. “It’s practically a guarantee here. Speaking of…”
I nod towards the entrance to our VIP area where a few girls are strolling over, all with heated smiles and swaying hips, their eyes locking onto mine.
“Hoo boy,” Dawson sighs. “Here we go. Riker, you’re on buddy.”
I’m about to tell him to mess off when sure enough, the three women approach me, one of them coming to stand directly between my thighs, hands on her hips. She gives me a look up and down and then leans forward, sliding her hand up my thigh.
“Well here there,” She purrs, winking, “My friends and I thought that maybe you’d like to buy us a drink and take us home. All of us.”
Her friends giggle behind her and I take her hand off of my thigh with a sigh, shaking my head with a grin.
“Thank you, but no thank you, ladies,” I say with an apologetic smile, “I’m engaged to be married. But I’m willing to bet that my friends here would take you up on that offer.”
The one standing in front of me scoffs as she looks at Mark and then Dawson, and then back to me with a smirk.
“You don’t go to the club to have a one night stand with Riker Lord, only to leave with one of his tag-alongs instead. That’s like going to a restaurant because you’re craving prime rib and ordering a hot dog instead. Besides,” she adds with a wink. “You being engaged isn’t a problem for me.”
“Wow, ouch, lady.”
Mark is laughing and Dawson is just shaking his head, downing the rest of their drinks as I turn back towards whatever her name is, and sighing with a smile.
“Suit yourself, but your choices are a hot dog or empty-handed. And while me being engaged might not be a problem for you, it is for me. Beat it.”
She looks me up and down again with a shrug and then turns back towards her friends, waving them along.
“Come on, ladies, let’s go. I’m pretty sure I saw some potential over on the dance floor.”
They leave, the VIP area then, prattling on about how excited they were to talk to Riker Lord, even if it was just to be rejected. I shake my head with a chuckle and then look back at Mark and Dawson, who are looking back at me in disbelief.
“Riker are you serious right now?”
“What?” I ask incredulously, shrugging. “I’m not sure what you were looking for me to say there. I suggested you two, but clearly they weren’t interested.”
“No, that’s not what I meant,” Mark says with a cocked brow and a laugh, leaning forward, “Dude what’s happened to you? I don’t think I’ve ever seen you turn down three women, especially not all at once.”
“Sure, but I’m engaged, remember? Isn’t that the whole reason we’re out celebrating?”
I laugh and Dawson nods with a shrug, chuckling as he waves the waitress over for more drinks.
“Sure it is Riker, but any other time you’ve had a woman you’ve just, you know… it didn’t matter. You could have still gone with the three of them you know, love them and leave them.”
Their comments finally sink in, and suddenly I realize that these two—two of my best friends—don’t think I’m capable of being faithful to a woman. It’s a hurtful thing to discover that people think that little of you, and the fact that this is apparently the reputation I’ve set myself up for, sucks. The thing is I really like Jane, and as much as that both surprises me and makes me nervous, I can’t deny it anymore. And suddenly, sitting here in a club with these two no longer seems appealing, so I get up to leave.
“Hey Riker, where are you going?”
“I think I’m gonna call it a night fellas,” I say with a smile, tossing a few bills onto the table, “But I had fun. Thanks for the night out. I’ll talk to you soon.”
With that, I leave the club, passing the women on my way out, who are still going on and on about how awesome it was to talk to me.
“Offer still stands, you know.”
The blonde from earlier winks at me and I laugh, just walking away and not bothering to answer her. I can still hear them just before I call for a car, and I can’t help but snicker at their conversation.
“I was hoping that he would lay down some pipe, but being rejected by him is better than nothing, right?”
“It so is. you should take a selfie and post it, it’s not every night a girl gets to talk to Riker Lord!”
I can’t believe what I’m hearing, and I just laugh and shake my head, making my way back to my hotel.

Jane
It’s my first day back to work as Riker’s ‘wife,’ and boy am I ever nervous about it. Sure nothing has really changed. I’m just going to work like I normally would, and my schedule will be the same minus doing more work on his case, but for some reason, I’m still a nervous wreck about it. There’s an air of uncertainty that I’m not sure I’ve ever felt while going to work, and the weirdest part about it is that it’s not even work-related, not really. Sure Riker is my client, but he’s been my client for some time. This time he’s my client and my fiancé, and so I’ll be making my debut in that scenario to my co-workers.
What the hell does someone even wear in a situation like that, and why do I even care so much about my outfit? It
s not as if I’m walking down the aisle and I’m trying to pick my wedding dress, this isn’t even a real engagement. I’m just going to work, so I should be putting on my normal, everyday work clothes, instead of standing here in front of my closet, a pile of dresses and skirts and blouses all thrown about onto my bed. I’ve tried so many different outfit combinations already that I feel like I’m going cross-eyed, and I sit down onto my bed with a huff.
I grab the first thing I had picked out before I started overthinking everything—a simple fitted black dress that comes to mid-thigh, strapless and a conservative neckline—and I slip it on, turning around in front of the mirror to look myself over. I do look good, and it’s one of my favorite dresses, so I decide that it’s the one. I take a few minutes and pick up the clothes I’d strewn about in my frantic attempt to decide what to wear, chuckling to myself at being so silly and worrying about something so frivolous. I’m just going back to work in the office, and it’s just going to be another day.
Or so I thought.
When I get to work, instead of casual greetings and quick glances from people, they greet me warmly, ask me if I need anything, asking me how my weekend went, etc. Getting to my office took double the time it usually does because I was stopped by no less than six people who gave me their congratulations on being engaged and they too ask me if I needed anything.
At first, I think that people are just being nosy and nice, but after a while, I realize that all of this stuff with me being in the news with Riker and our engagement may not have changed things for me, but it’s changed things for everyone else in the office. I’m not longer just Jane Gordon. I’m now Jane Gordon, fiancé to Riker Lord, and they all respect me more. It pisses me off a bit that me getting engaged to someone like Riker apparently means I’m worthy of more respect, but I’m also not going to complain about it.
The rest of the day is ridiculously productive, and by the end of it, I’m ready to head to Riker’s hotel, actually looking forward to our dinner together. We had made plans to go out and have dinner together, and while it’s purely for the reporter’s benefits, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t looking forward to it as well. We’d gone through several choices but ended up picking a nice restaurant uptown with loads of open space, very public. We wanted to go someplace that the media could see us so that we’d be seen together in public, and the one we picked out had a gorgeous open balcony that could be seen from the street, perfect for catching candid photos.
So imagine my surprise when I make my way to his hotel room, and he opens up the door, beckoning me inside and towards a table set up with dinner for two. I give him a skeptical look and step inside, smirking when he shuts the door behind me, and I feel him at my back.
“What’s with this?” I say with a coy smile, tilting my head up to look at him, “I thought we were going out to dinner?”
“I’ve got dinner ready for us right here. I ordered room service and had them set up a fancy table and everything.”
I laugh gently and turn around to face him, cocking my brow with a smirk as I playfully prod him in the chest with my finger.
“You were supposed to make dinner reservations at a restaurant, and I was looking forward to a night out. I thought we were going to have dinner in public so that we could be seen?”
He raises his brows with a cocky grin and chuckles, stepping forward into my space and taking my hand from his chest, rubbing his thumb along the back of it.
“Oh, so you want to be seen with me now, huh?”
I roll my eyes with a laugh and shake my head, looking up at him. He really is handsome and I can’t help the way my eyes linger, dancing along his jawline and down to his neck. It’s in this moment that I suddenly realize that while he may not have made reservations, he still dressed up as though he did. He’s in a well-tailored suit and a nice pair of shoes, and I can’t help but feel touched at the gesture.
He shrugs his shoulders with a smile and brushes a piece of hair behind my ear, and I can’t help the way I bite my lip and look up at him.
“I just thought it would be better to get to know each other first.” He says with a grin, nodding to the table. “And you know, I slaved over a hot stove all day to make you that meal.”
“I’m sure you did,” I say with a laugh, pointing towards the main dish in the middle. “I can still see the order slip under the dish, Riker.”
He rolls his eyes and gives me one of those cocky grins that makes my knees weak and my heart flutter in my chest, and when he steps forward again and closes the gap between us, I don’t stop him. He’s looking down at me like I’m everything he wants in this moment and he rests his hands on my hips, pulling me towards him.
“Riker.”
My voice is barely a whisper, and while I can’t deny that I want him too, I’m not sure that this is a good idea. His hands travel up my sides and one cups my cheek as he leans in, and I sigh softly when he presses his lips to mine. But I know that this can’t work, so I step back reluctantly with a chuckle, shaking my head and giving him a pointed look. Though, I can’t help the fact that I’m also grinning. I can’t help it if I enjoyed it.
“Hey,” He says with a scoff, mocking offense, “we’re married! Come on, let’s spice things up.”
We both laugh, and before I can say anything else, he pulls me back into him and into a hungry kiss, and my hands sink into his hair. He’s solid and warm, and I can feel myself already starting to let go, every inch of my skin alive with want.
Fuck it.
I nod against his lips with a whimper and he chuckles, picking me up and carrying me off into the bedroom as I wrap my thighs around his waist. When we get inside, he presses my back to the wall and rolls his hips into mine, a soft moan escaping my lips as I feel him hard and throbbing against me.
“Riker, pants open,” I gasp between kisses, tugging gently at his hair. “Now.”
“Bossy. I like it.”
He chuckles and wastes no time undoing the buckle to his pants, sliding them down and kicking them somewhere off to the side. I want him so badly that I’m already wet, and when he slips his hand between my thighs, he groans, slipping a finger inside of me, and then another.
“Fuck.”
I gasp it out, and my head tilts back against the wall with a thud, and I laugh, sighing. Wall sex.
My laugh tapers off into a surprised moan. However, when he shifts me down and sinks into me, I gasp as he fills me with every inch of his cock. He starts to move his hips, and I gasp and arch my back, my body readying itself for one hell of an orgasm that I can feel coming already.
Okay, so this is better than dinner out after all.

Riker
Forgoing the dinner reservations and getting room service instead was definitely the better choice, and I couldn’t be happier with the result. Was I hoping for things to go further with Jane tonight? Of course. Was I expecting to be fucking her against the bedroom wall to my hotel suite as she moaned my name before we even sat down to eat? I certainly was not, but you won’t hear me complaining. I’ve already made her come twice, and if I have my way, we’re only just getting started.
She feels so fucking good, beyond anything I’ve fantasized about her and more perfect than any woman I’ve ever been with. I’ve never been with a woman that I cared so much about pleasing, but with her, it’s all I can think about. The way she sounds when she moans my name, the way her pussy clenches around my cock when I whisper filthy things into her ear. She’s a goddess, and it’s all I can do to hold things together and not lose myself entirely.
I’ve got her dress hiked up and her back pressed against the wall, and she’s dragging her nails down my back, her lips at my neck. I know that she’s leaving marks and while normally that would bother me—it’s hard to pick up girls in the club when you’re already covered in hickeys—this time I’m enjoying it. For once I’m not worried about the rest of the world and what they think. All I’m worried about is Jane and how fucking
amazing she feels. I feel like I’m drunk on her. She’s all I can focus on, and my brain is a lust-fueled fog, consisting of nothing but Jane and how utterly perfect she is.
“Riker, please. More, I want more. bed, now.”
She moans my name again, and just the sound of it makes my cock throb, and I nod against her lips with a groan, shoving us off of the wall and walking over towards the bed, Jane still in my arms.
Her lips crash into mine again, and her kiss is laced with need and want, and I let out a heady moan into the room as she rolls her hips against mine as we’re walking, taking me even deeper still. She breaks our kiss with a gasp and presses her forehead to mine, a soft whine escaping her as she drags her nails down my front, making me shudder.
“Fuck, Jane.”
I get to the bed and set her down, standing up just long enough to haul my shirt off over my head and toss it aside, and she looks up at me with a smirk. I raise my brows with a hungry grin and watch as she makes a show of shrugging her dress off, biting her lip up at me as she slides the fabric over her shoulders, giving her tits a shake with a giggle as she does.
Sure she’s not the first woman to tease and do a little dance as she strips for me, but she’s the first woman who’s done so and held my attention as opposed to annoyed me. She’s gorgeous and the epitome of what a beautiful woman is, and I reach down and stroke my cock as I watch her, unable to resist. She’s making me feel desperate, feverish with want and I kneel down onto the bed again with a smirk, draping myself over her.
She presses her palm to my chest and pushes and at first I’m concerned that I’ve done something wrong, so I open my mouth to ask her what, but the words catch in my throat, and I grin when she shoves me onto my back and climbs on top.
She sinks down on my cock with one single motion and my eyes screw shut with a groan, head falling back against the mattress as she grinds down on me. I don’t want to miss a second more though so I snap my eyes open and drag my gaze up her form, eyes lingering on each curve as she moves and teases. Her hands skirt up her abdomen and cup her breasts, squeezing them together with a playful grin as she rides my cock like she’s been doing it her whole life. There’s something to be said about a woman who knows what she wants and takes it, and Jane is definitely one of those women.
