He pulled the hem of her dress up past her hips and fully cupped her sex. One finger traced the line of her folds. His hand moved up to his mouth and then past his lips. He closed his eyes, savoring the taste of her. “Mmm, you taste so sweet, Meggie, perfect.” He said and kissed her openly on the mouth.

Dear God, what are you doing to me? Meg almost fell to the floor. That had to be the sexiest thing she had ever experienced. She had never felt so wanted in all her life as she did with Drake. When she managed to get her senses back, she cleared her throat. “You know, I can’t believe of all the things you purchased, you didn’t buy one pair of panties. How am I supposed to walk around all day feeling this exposed and accessible to you?” she teased. A slow seductive grin spread across her face and she slowly shook her head. What she really wanted to know was how the hell she was going to get through the day. She wanted his hands all over her and had no issues being completely at his disposal.

His eyes lit up and his voice was sexy as hell. “Make no mistake Meggie, I want full access to every part of your body, particularly that part. You are mine for the next forty-eight hours, Meggie Malone,” he reassured her.

God, the man makes my insides melt!

Meg placed her hands on his chest. Her fingers stretched and spread across the hard muscles under his tight fitted, black T-shirt. She challenged him teasingly. “I think I can handle being yours for the next forty-eight hours.”

She moved her hand gingerly across his chest and then traveled downward. When she got to the zipper, she wiggled her fingers inside and found what she was looking for. She felt the hard tip of his erection and picked up the small pearl drop of liquid with her index finger and looked straight into his eyes. Meg licked her lips and he focused on her mouth. Proof that he was turned on by her actions tented the front part of his jeans, and Meg had never felt sexier. Drake made her feel that way. He brought out the woman inside her that she had kept hidden for all these years. It was an erotic moment. She parted her lips, slid her finger inside, and closed her mouth around the single digit. Her other hand traveled behind and grabbed his denim covered ass. “Just be careful what you wish for, Mr. Noble. I’m not easy to handle,” she whispered. “I can be a very demanding woman, you know. I might want to be touched more often than you think.”

Her hands wandered back to his front, and she stroked along the waist of his low riding jeans. He was so hard, so freaking hot. “Are you sure you want to leave here?” she asked. There was fire in his eyes and pure male lust replaced any softness that may have been there earlier. She walked away and turned toward the door. “Oh, and in case you’re wondering, I’m not wearing a bra either. Just saying,” she said with a wink.

He took two long strides in her direction and grabbed her around the waist. He kissed her hard and his tongue pressed forward, invading the inside of her mouth. His hands wandered to her ass and he grabbed her firmly and squeezed. He pulled her lower body to meet his hard erection and he held her there while he kissed her senseless. He ground in to her once more before he let loose. “If you keep teasing me like that, I might just lock us in here for the entire weekend.” He attacked her neck with his mouth and sucked with such force, that Meg was sure he left a mark. He scraped his teeth along the column of her neck down to her bare shoulders. He tugged her strap down and cupped her breast firmly before he tweaked her nipple into a hard point. “Two can play that game,” he said and moved to the door holding it open for her to exit. Meg was breathless, but no way was she giving in to his challenge. She adjusted the strap on her shoulder and reluctantly covered her breast with the material and gasped for air. Her lips were swollen from the hard way he’d taken her mouth. She cleared her throat and walked past him; pleasure sent a shiver through her and quick spasms shot through her womb.

Once outside, he pinned her to the door. Both hands came around trapping her in. He lowered his mouth to her ear. “So tell me, Meggie, if I keep you locked up in there all day with me, who will feed that hot little mouth of yours? He moved his hand to her mouth and his thumb grazed her bottom lip. He stared hard at her mouth. “I suggest you behave and start walking down the hall before I push you back inside and put your body up against the wall and fuck you long and hard. And I won’t let you come until I hear you begging me.” His face went from heated to soft and he gave her an innocent smile.

How can you talk to me like that and then just walk away? Meg was almost to the point of throwing aside her pride and begging him to take her inside and have his wicked way with her. She was already on the verge of orgasm. He could fuck me from now until next Sunday and I’d love every minute of it.

Completely mesmerized by him, she broke away and descended down the hallway toward the elevator. The entire time she squeezed her thighs together, trying to dull the growing ache. If he as much as looked in her direction in the elevator she knew she would orgasm. How embarrassing would that be? Meg turned just in time to see Drake adjust the bulge at his crotch. “Give me a minute here, Meggie.” He shook his head from side to side, with that damn smile of his and then reached past her to hit the button to the ground floor.

Completely famished, they both devoured brunch along with two cups of coffee and then headed outside to the limo. They settled into the back seat and Drake pulled her into his side. “So, where would you like to go, Meggie?”

He kissed the top of her head, and Meg threw her arm around his waist, resting her head on his chest. It felt so good being this close to him. She wanted to stay like this and cherish this time together. He would be gone after Monday and she had no idea when she would be this close to him again, if ever. She closed her eyes at that awful thought. “I’m not sure. Are there any places you can think of that you’d like to see while you’re here?”

He sat quietly and thought for a moment, “I heard Niagara Falls is nice.”

“Hmm, it is, but it’s incredibly busy. What about something a little more intimate, like Niagara-on-the-lake? It’s quaint. They have little boutiques with handmade arts and crafts, a few restaurants. We can walk around take in the sights and just kind of hang out. What do you think?”

“Sounds nice, now get comfortable and let’s sleep. You’ve worn me out woman.” he chuckled softly in her ear and kissed her lobe before holding her to him.

“I wore you out? Oh, I think it’s the other way around, Mr. Noble.”

“Okay, maybe we wore one another out.” He gave her a tight squeeze and Meg closed her eyes. Drake instructed Matt where to take them. Meg looked in the rear view mirror and a smile crossed Matt’s face. She smiled in appreciation of the silent acknowledgment they shared before settling back into Drake’s arms.

Once Matt finished updating the location on to the GPS, they headed out to Niagara-on-the-lake. In a sleepy voice, she mentioned she should call Sarah and thank her for going to him and fixing this misunderstanding. “If it weren’t for her, you wouldn’t be here right now,” she said in a whisper. Meg was so grateful for what Sarah had done, the thought made her emotional, and Meg was thankful for having such a wonderful friend.

“Actually, Sarah asked me to let you know she’ll be tied up this weekend. She said for you to call her Monday. She mentioned something about two friends visiting her that she met when she was away on a shoot last week.”

Meg smiled against his chest. She didn’t want him to know what her friend was up to, at least not yet. Who knows what he would think of her if he was aware of her wild and crazy sex life.

They talked about the sale of Griffin Publishing on the way to their destination. “Meggie, why haven’t you asked about staying on after the sale once this deal closes with Frank?”

“I don’t know if I want that anymore. It’s been a great experience. I’m thankful for everything Frank has taught me and the opportunities I’ve been given over the years. I’m not sure if you know this, but Frank promised to take care of me financially. He offered me a favorable incenti
ve to be actively involved in this sale. I’m hoping that money will hold me over while I take a few years off to do some research and some writing of my own. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy editing, but writing has always been my passion. It’s something I couldn’t afford to do until now.”

Their hands intertwined and they continued with their conversation. “Well, once this goes through and I am confident it will,” he kissed her hand. “Would you consider staying on for a few months once the deal closes? I could really use your help during the transition.”

“I would never leave you high and dry, Drake. I’ll stay on for as long as you need me.”

Meg moved from his chest and laid her head on his thigh; he looked down at her intently. She could see he was devising a plan in that beautiful brilliant head of his; his face took on a more serious look. “Would you consider moving to New York City?”

Meg sat up, taken aback by his inquiry and not sure where this conversation was leading. But excitement took over her every thought and she stared back at him. She placed her hand on his. “What exactly would I do there?”

“I have a few things I’m working on, similar to what you’re doing now, but I also own a magazine company that could use your writing skills. I know you’re good. I’ve read some of the material Frank passed on to me. Most of it was editing, but he included some written articles that you had worked on as well. I like your flow and ease of words. Your writing is engaging to readers and you express yourself well. I would consider myself very lucky to have you as part of my team. Or you could simply move there and write, see how things go, if you find you don’t need to work, that’s fine too. But there’s more to it than that. I think you know where I’m going with this,” he added. “I like you, Meggie Malone. I enjoy your company and would like to spend more time with you so that we can get to know one another better. I’m just asking that you consider it. If you’re seriously considering taking time off in the next year or two to write a book, why not consider New York? It’s the perfect place for writing a manuscript and you’d have everything at your fingertips there. I have tons of connections in that industry.”

“Well, I do have Sarah there and I can’t deny how much I miss being away from her.”

“Yes, you do have Sarah.” His eyes connected with hers, whatever was going on in that head of his, she could tell he was serious. His hand reached over to caress her jaw. “You also have me.” Meg’s heart melted at those words and the seriousness in his voice.

“I’d like to see more of you, too, Drake. The very little time I’ve spent with you so far has been amazing. I promise, I’ll give it some thought. With my parents living in Wisconsin, moving to New York would make it a little easier for them to visit me more often.”

“You can visit them too, you know.”

Meg shifted her gaze to the window. She released his hold on her face and tried to hide her emotions; her chest grew tight at the thought of going back there. “Maybe,” she answered dismissively. “I haven’t been back there since I left after high school,” she admitted. “We’ll see.”

He moved closer, putting his face in line with hers again and he searched for a clue, anything that would help explain why she would stay away from the place she grew up, the place where she had family ties and people who loved her. “Why have you stayed away from the people you love? You’re their only child, don’t you miss them?”

“Of course, I miss them. It has nothing to do with the love I have for my parents. I don’t have any desire to go back there, and I really don’t feel like talking about this right now.” She looked away, unable to carry on the conversation. Her voice grew shaky, and she could feel anxiety grow quickly in the pit of her stomach. Drake’s voice started to drown out, barely audible as the sound of blood pounded its way through her ears.

He pushed on, wanting to know more. “Did something happen?”

“No, nothing happened,” she whispered. She must have looked as though she were a million miles away. Drake was quickly tuning into the fact that something was very wrong. What the fuck was that all about? The more he got to know her, the more he sensed she was hiding something. But he decided not to press her any further for now. It was too early in their relationship. Trust was something they had to work on. And Drake knew better than anyone that trust was something you earned. He’d learned that through past business dealings and that three month so-called relationship he’d had with what’s her name. He was more than willing to give her the time she needed to come around and open up to him.

Meg felt the distance grow between them, but she couldn’t bring herself to open up, that would mean acknowledging her past and what kept her away from home for so long. She didn’t want their weekend ruined, and she certainly didn’t want him walking on eggshells around her. For the first time in her life, she was feeling alive, wanting more out of life than she’d previously thought possible. Despite the years it took to deal with her past, she never gave up on the idea of romance. Now that she found it, she had no intentions of sharing her secret. She didn’t want to destroy any chance of having the normalcy of a relationship, now that she had finally found the perfect man.

With a smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes, she cleared her throat and steadied herself. “I’m sorry,” she offered. “There isn’t much back there for me anymore. Most of my friends have moved on, Mom and Dad visit me at least once a year. I just don’t have any desire to go back.”

“Okay, I get all that, but your parents are there, and I’m sure you have other family there as well that you could visit. Don’t you think that your mom and dad want you to visit them once in a while, too?” He knew he was pushing her again, and the minute he said that to her, he regretted it.

Meg felt herself tense up; she wanted desperately to get off this topic. Drake continued digging, wanting details that she wasn’t ready or willing to give. “Drake, please don’t push me on this,” she snapped without thinking.

In an attempt to recover quickly, she placed her hand over his, trying to dissolve some of the panic that quickly overcame her. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to be short with you. I was actually considering going home for a visit next year,” she lied. “But for now, I need to focus on getting my life back in order. A lot has changed, and as excited as I am about taking time off to write a book, I have to admit the idea makes me a little nervous as well.”

  “Will you seriously consider moving?”

“Definitely, I’ll consider the idea. Maybe it’s just what I need, new surroundings, a new beginning.”

  “Where would you stay?”

“I’m not sure. I guess I would stay with Sarah until I got settled and on my feet.”

Drake went quiet for a moment. The hell you’re staying with Sarah. You’ll stay with me. “Isn’t Lake living there?” he asked. His jaw twitched and Meg knew it wasn’t from pleasantry this time. She sensed the concern in his tone and knew she shouldn’t be feeling joyful at the fact that he sounded as though her were jealous. But she couldn’t help the hope that welled up inside her chest at that very thought. His reaction was a good sign. It gave her a little more hope.

“Actually, Sarah mentioned that he’s moving back to Door County; his mom is pretty sick and he’s moving back to help his sister watch over her for a while. According to Sarah, he wasn’t all that happy in New York to begin with. It just wasn’t his thing.”

“That’s too bad,” Drake said with a smile.

Meg jabbed him in the ribs when she saw his lips curl up into a smile. She returned the smile when she sensed his relief. “Drake, I wouldn’t stay with Sarah again knowing he’s there; too much has happened and I wouldn’t be comfortable.”

“I have to admit, I’m glad to hear you say that and happy to hear he’s no longer in New York.

“Would you consider staying at my place? I don’t think I told you but I have a brownstone apartment in New York in addition to the condo. I’m at the condo most of the time. It’s closer to the office
for me. So you could stay at the brownstone and I can stay with you on the weekends. It will give us some time together. It’s the perfect set up, don’t you agree?”

Meg’s heart raced in her chest at the thought of living at Drake’s place. Wow. But reality quickly set in; it was far too early to consider moving into his house. Although he mentioned he wouldn’t be there most of the time, it would make things far too complicated for her if this thing between them didn’t move forward. But she thrilled in the simple fact that he was interested in seeing her again and according to that offer, the possibilities were endless.

“Thank you, that’s very sweet, but I don’t want to burden you like that. If I do move to NY, I have some savings. I’ll have to sell my condo here which will help me with a down payment for a place in New York. I really do appreciate your kindness. As for spending weekends with you, I can’t think of anywhere else I’d rather be.”

Drake leaned in to kiss her, his tongue danced around hers and then he sucked her bottom lip into his mouth before letting go. “You know, Meggie, I’ll say it again, I really do like you. I enjoy being with you and I’m not afraid to take chances. I’m a pretty straightforward guy, and I’m telling you now that I really want to see where this goes. But I’m not a fool. I get that we just met and haven’t known one another for long. But I fully intend to spend time with you, lots of time, and I hope you want that, too.”

“I do. I want that, too, Drake.”

He looked at her with those perfect blue eyes, filled with the same hope that she felt inside. He kissed her gently on the lips. The kiss felt like it carried weight and had an important effect on Meg.

“I have to fly out to Japan Monday afternoon, but I promise to stay in touch with you. Now, come here”, he said playfully. He pulled her over toward him where he kissed her gingerly on the mouth again before she rested her head against his chest. His fingers continued to comb through her hair, making her feel lazy and ready for sleep.
