Tyler’s eyes sparkled in the moonlight.
She smiled, delighted.
“Really?” she said.
“Yep. Used up all your stash, and I got the entire platoon together. We had pancakes and Starbucks coffee and toasted you and Ben. And that is the only thing about that day which is really worth remembering,” Kate concluded before looking far out to sea once more.
Tyler gazed at her for a moment, and then she kissed her on the lips, very softly.
“Thank you,” she said.
“For what?”
“Taking care of my guys. Taking care of me.”
“Nasty business but someone‘s got to do it,” Kate remarked with pretend seriousness.
She enjoyed the smile on Tyler’s lips as her lover laughed quietly.
“Hey, babe. Are you feeling better now?”
“Yes. Much.”
“You think you can go back to bed and sleep this time? It would do you a world of good.”
“I know. Will you stay with me?”
Kate’s reply was simple and true.
“Always,” she said.
