“I know,” I finally said, reaching for her and pulling her close. “And I appreciate it, I really do. I just feel like this is my year. My chance to win all four.”

“I agree. You have to do this,” she said with the beginnings of a smile. “And Max and I and, er, a special someone will be cheering you on, no matter what. We’ll be your lucky charms.”

“A special someone?” I questioned, not getting her meaning.

Her arms latched around my neck and her mouth went to my ear. “I’m pregnant again,” she whispered.

“Holy shit!” I dropped to a knee, and splayed my palms across her belly. “I’m going to be a dad again?”

She nodded and tears welled in her eyes. “I wasn’t going to tell you till after, but I couldn’t wait.”

I stood back up, before her and shook my head. “I’m glad you didn’t. This is the best news I could’ve gotten. What on earth did I do to deserve you?” I asked, placing a kiss on her lips.

She laughed. “Well, you hit me with your car for one. But it’s OK, I got you back and kidnapped your ass.”

I grinned. It had to be the craziest way anyone had ever met before. “And I’m so glad you did,” I said.

She gathered Max up and placed a kiss on my cheek. “You keep on practicing. Max and I just wanted to see you for a bit.”

“And give me the best news ever,” I said still amazed that there was another baby on the way.

“Yes, and that. We’ll celebrate later, OK?”

“Oh, you can bet your ass we’ll be celebrating. As soon as I’m done here, I going to give you a night you won’t forget.”

She winked at me and said, “Another one?”

Max waved over her shoulder as she disappeared around the gate. I drew in a breath, determined. I picked up the discarded racket and a ball, my jaw set. The news had certainly lit a fire up my ass. And with the woman of my dreams in my corner, there was no way I could ever lose.

  Author Notes

If you are reading this, that most likely means you have read the entire series; The Playbook, The Curve Ball, and now The Love Game, and honestly that blows me away! Thank you so so much for sticking with me, I am so grateful to you all. For picking up the books in the first place and taking a chance on an Indie author.

Now I don’t normally write author notes like this but I thought I should also say something about the hard topics of this particular book. At times it was extremely painful to write and I’m sure you can imagine why. Perhaps you yourself have gone through similar experiences with a family member or with a close friend. It’s tough. Heartbreaking. And it makes you cry buckets full of tears. But no matter how hard it gets, I have to believe there is still hope, and that we can someday beat those horrible afflictions.

And while I didn’t set out to write such a tear-jerking story (I made myself and my editor cry!), I am hoping that I managed to get across that life does have a way of turning itself around. That it’s not all a struggle. That we can get through the ups and downs. That there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Maybe that’s wishful thinking, but at least in my fictional world there can be a happy ever after. And if the little bit of fiction that I write can bring even just you, my readers, a hint of joy during your day, then I know I have done my job, and that will make me extremely happy indeed.

I want give a special thank you to my wonderful proofreader, Courtney! She spotted my silly mistakes and I can’t thank her enough. And of course to my editor, Amanda, who struggled through pneumonia and still managed to meet her self imposed deadline to get the book back to me - you are truly a rock star! Thank you.

Second a big shout out to my ARC readers. No matter what you always come through for me and I’m so glad to have each and everyone of you on my team.

And finally to you. Thank you once again for reading. You are the reason why I get up everyday and pound away at the keyboard, bringing stories to life and alleviating all the craziness that goes on in my head!

If you enjoyed the book please leave a review. You don’t know how much your encouragement and kind words mean to indie authors like me.

  Love you all!

P.S. If you ever wondered if I listen to music when I write, I do! Little inconsequential look behind the scenes, but this time around, The Love Game was penned almost exclusively while I listened to Daft Punk and the following albums: Discovery, Homework, Tron, Human after All, and of course Random Access Memory. No idea why, to be honest. It all seemed to flow with the words. And of course Daft Punk are amazing! ;)
