“You’re grandfather?” She slid the pictures over so I could see the resemblance. Sure enough, except the man in my pictures had more scruff on his face and his hair was longer, but he looked identical to the man in the black and white photo my mom had of her grandfather.
“Is that even possible? Shouldn’t he be dead?”
We both looked out the window to the woods bordering our property. “I don’t see how it can be, he died when I was younger, but the resemblance is so uncanny.” She was looking back at the two photos again.
I had a sudden urge to flee, like someone was calling me. My heart started racing as the hairs on my arms stood at attention. I felt like I couldn’t breathe. Clutching my chest, I gasped for oxygen like a fish out of water, Mom patting my back.
“Honey, are you okay?” Whack. Whack.
Like walking out into a brisk air, my lungs opened up and I was finally able to take the deep breath I was aching for. Just like that, it was over.
“Are you okay, Cevin?”
I arched my back catching her arm before she hit me again. “I’m fine Mom, I don’t know what happened. I must have inhaled saliva or something.”
Setting a glass of water in front of me, she rubbed a small circle over and over again on my back. I sipped the water, fresh and cold, with a new appreciation for living. “I’ll be okay, Mom.”
We pondered the pictures a bit longer, drinking the rest of our coffee. Things were starting to get weirder and weirder for me. “If he’s dead mom, who is that guy in the background?”
“I’m not sure, Cevin. I’ll look into it.”
Deciding that was enough for now, Mom told a few stories of her grandfather’s past, laughing at the memories. She agreed she would show my father the pictures and see if he knew who the man was. If she learned anything, she would call me. She was hiding something, something big.
I headed back home for a nap that was much needed. With little to no sleep the last few nights, I felt exhausted. By the time I reached my house, I felt completely drained. Throwing my jacket on the back of the couch, I went to my bedroom, sprawling out on the bed. Exhaling forcefully, I closed my eyes and prayed sleep would come.
The smell of vanilla and pine caught me off guard. “Hello my love. Three nights left until the full moon, then we shall never be apart again.”
“Why do you keep telling me this? We can’t be together, I am engaged to be married. Do you understand that? I am with somebody.” Anger dripped from my tone. I was getting really tired of this chick invading my sleep. I couldn’t keep her out of my dreams, and I couldn’t wake up from them either.
“Silence!” Her voice pierced my ears with a high pitch and I felt my chest open again from the claw that descended upon me.
Grabbing my open wounds once again, my hands grew wet and sticky with crimson fluid oozing between my fingers.
“Must you be so rough?” A new voice echoed through the room, a male voice.
Gently grabbing my hands and pulling them away from my chest, she licked her lips as she looked at the damage. “I’m sorry, Love. You shouldn’t be so resistant.” Moving closer, she slowly began to lap at my chest with her tongue.
“What are you doing?” I gasped.
“Hush now.” She continued licking at the blood dripping from my chest. Oddly as it may seem, I found myself becoming intensely aroused.
Slow, circular motions, her tongue continued at a steady pace. Pushing me against the wall, she continued her assault, my cock gaining girth. Moving her hand softly down my side, my cock jerked when she touched it through my pants. Undoing the button of my jeans, sliding her hand between fabric and skin, I moaned as her fingers wrapped around my shaft and gently squeezed. I slid my jeans off my hips inviting her for more. Running her tongue slowly down my chest, drawing a wet line past my belly button, I felt like I was going to blow my seed in her hand. Ripples of pleasure drove through my entire core. Flicking her tongue at the tip of my cock, I wrapped my fingers in her hair, pulling that mouth closer, sinking my girth to the back of her throat. Pulling my hips with her hands, we found a rhythm as I slid in and out of her mouth. A growl erupted from my chest and before I could even comprehend what I was doing, I pulled out spinning her around, forcing her to the wall face first. I kicked her legs apart and forcefully thrust into her wetness. Pushing off with her hands, she bent at her hips pushing back meeting every thrust.
“Cevin? Cevin! You’re dreaming again.” Opening my eyes, Sam was standing at the side of the bed.
She bent down to kiss me, but instead of kissing her back, I jumped up with a speed that wasn't natural for a human, unbuttoned her pants and bent her over the bed. Sliding her jeans off her hips, I thrust my already hard cock into her from behind.
“Cevin! What are…” A moan of pleasure burst from her as I thrust harder and harder into her. When her juices started flowing, lubricating her, I moved faster, groaning, growling, panting. Sweat dripped from my face and with one last, deep push, my seed exploded into Sam’s pussy.
Both of us panted, trying to catch our breaths. Standing up, I could barely register what just happened.
“What was that about?” She stood pulling her pants up.
“I’m sorry. I don’t know what got into me. Did I hurt you?” I hadn’t even given her foreplay, I just forced myself on her.
“I’m fine, Cevin. What the hell were you dreaming about? That woman again?”
Shaking my head, I was almost afraid to admit the truth. I was horny as hell from the woman in my dreams. I didn’t want Sam to know that I was thinking about that woman when I took her like a ravaged animal. Sam’s eyes pleaded with me to tell her the truth.
“I don’t know why she keeps coming into my dreams, Sam.” Looking down, I noticed the new scars from the scratches in my dream, but they were already healed.
“I heard you went to see Sierra. What did she have to say?”
“How’d you hear that?”
“Justin. Not many people get caught looking up werewolf information. He was talking to a group of his buddies about how your paper would rock after you talked to Sierra.”
“Glad he has so much faith in her.” I sighed, resolving to tell her the whole story of my day. She listened intently, never interrupting.
Running her fingers along my newly formed scratches, Sam went to the bathroom to get some peroxide. “I think you should listen to whatever it is Sierra has to say, Cevin. These scratches aren’t just coming out of thin air. There is a supernatural at work here, and one we can’t just ignore.” She sopped gauze in the peroxide and started blotting my chest.
How could she be so calm about all of this? I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown, and she was acting as if this were an everyday occurrence.
Studying her for a long moment, I grabbed the hand cleansing my wounds. “If you think it would be best, I will go see her again.”
“I think she’s the only shot we have at figuring out what the hell’s going on, Cevin. She seems to understand it better than we do, and she wasn’t surprised when you told her of your dreams. That’s got to say something.”
S
ierra’s room was small and smelled of patchouli. A single, round, bed sat in the corner of the far wall with a canopy made of beads. Candles burned in almost every square foot of the room. It was dimly lit and I wondered how she ever got any studying done.
“I knew you’d come back.” She smiled. “The dreams aren’t getting any better?”
I simply shook my head. She already knew the answer.
“Cevin, is there any magic in your heritage? Anything that you know of that made someone stand out amongst the rest?”
“No. My life is pretty simple. Mother and father, only child, my family is very family-like. Normal life.”
Pulling out crystals, she did her thing and started reading them. Grabbing my hand, she flipped it over to study my palm. “Mm hmm.”
“What is it?”
“Shh. I’m putting it al
l together first.” I watched her feel the crystals and look back at my palm. She did this for several minutes, then suddenly stood and left the room.
“That’s one weird chick man.” I whispered.
A few seconds later she returned carrying a large book. “This book will show you what I mean when I tell you what I’m about to tell you.”
“Should I be freaked out?”
“I don’t think so, but you will have a better understanding.” She sat on a blanket on her floor, and motioned for me to sit in front of her. “I told you before that things have been off since the Wolf Moon. As I researched it, in reference to your dream, or dreams I should say, here is what I’ve found.” She opened the book to show a pack of wolves. “One male Alpha and one female Alpha rule a pack until one or both of them dies. If the death isn’t forced, such as in natural death, then there is always a next in line that will become Alpha.” The book showed the lineage of wolves from Alpha, Beta, to Worker. “If an Alpha is forced to give up the throne, as in losing a battle, the female must choose to stay on as Alpha or join her mate and become part of the soldiers in the pack, or both the male and female Alphas leave the pack and hope to survive, and the new Alpha is free to choose his new Queen. If an Alpha dies of natural causes, such as old age, then the next of kin is to become Alpha.” She paused and studied my face for a minute.
“Am I missing something here?”
“The next of kin will be unrelated to the alpha of the opposite sex, but related to the one that died. When it is time for him or her to step up, they will dream of their new mate. In these dreams is how they get acquainted, learning each others scents through sexual encounters. What better way does an animal get a scent of their master than by licking them? On the first full moon after the death of the old King, the next of kin, the Chosen One, will be initiated into the pack as the new Alpha. The female Alpha will be his mate for life.” She looked me dead in the eye, and I squirmed at the unease I felt.
“I’m not a next of kin though. My family isn’t anything but normal.”
“That is where you are wrong. You are a wolf, Cevin. At least a wolf descendant. The crystals and your palms give me no doubt.”
“That’s ridiculous.”
“No, no it isn’t. It would explain why she is marking you in your dreams. She wants other wolves you might meet to know you are spoken for. Until you are initiated, other wolves may be on the prowl, not realizing you are to become Alpha.” She stood up and walked over to her dresser, picking something up. When she came back over, she slid a necklace around my neck. “It’s been blessed with protection. I only hope you survive initiation, Cevin . Not being in the pack before this, your mate is going to be the only one to accept you without a second thought. Keep it with you at all times.”
“Survive? What does that mean Sierra? What about Sam?”
“Sam may choose to leave on her own, or you may be forced to make her leave. You can’t have both worlds, Cevin. It just won’t work, and could get Sam killed. Now go. I have class.”
She ushered me out the door before I could ask another question. What the hell was I in for? I was angry, and half scared. I couldn’t lose Sam. I won’t. I needed to find this pack before the full moon.
I
decided to start in the woods behind my parents house, where the man from the photos was always standing. I had done enough research on wolves to know that they had a keen sense of smell. If I truly was a wolf, then I should be able to track my way to the pack.
Slowly I approached the woods. Putting my nose to the air I took a deep breath. I inhaled so hard I made myself cough. “I’m really losing my mind.” I inhaled again. All I could smell was damp earth and pine from the trees. “I’m never going to find them.” Just as I was about to walk out of the woods, something caught my eye. Turning quickly, I moved towards where I saw movement. Stopping to listen for sound, I could have sworn I heard someone breathing.
A low, warning growl erupted in the woods. I turned sharply and came face to face with a brown wolf, baring teeth, haunches up, head down, and looking right at me.
“Easy boy. Easy.” I put my hands in front of me to show I wouldn’t hurt him. “I’m not here to hurt you boy.” I stood my ground. “Are you one of the pack? Are ya boy?”
That seemed to get his attention for a brief second, then he turned and ran deep into the woods. I ran after him, but lost him within a few hundred feet. He was fast. I’ll give him that.
S
am had supper cooking when I walked into the apartment. The smell of steak was enticing, but I was so tired I didn’t know if I could stay awake to eat.
“Long day?”
“Very.” I pecked Sam on the nose.
“It’s ready if you can stand to eat. I just have to get it on the table.”
Grabbing a beer, I made my way to the table and plopped down. Sam put a large steak on my plate along with green beans and mashed potatoes. Having it in front of me helped me want it more. I shoveled it in as fast as I could, hungrier than I thought. Finishing the last bite, I forced myself to the couch. I was dog tired and I think all this stress was getting to me.
“What happened with Sierra today?” Sam picked my legs up and sat under them.
“She gave me a lot. I’d rather not think about it.”
“Cevin, the full moon is in two days. You told me that the woman in your dreams told you something would happen on the full moon.”
“I know, Sam. I’m just too tired to think. I want to let it all sink in a bit is all.”
Swinging my legs off Sam, I kissed the top of her head and went to bed. “See you when you get there.” I could feel her watching me as I left the room. I hated making her worry, but I needed to find out the details of everything, as much as I can, before I tell her I might be forced to leave her. Falling back against the pillow, I think I was asleep before the rest of me hit the bed.
“Seeking out the pack today were you?”
“So, he was a member of the pack?”
“He cannot speak to you until the full moon.”
“Why? Why can’t anyone tell me what’s going on?”
“Love, you will know soon enough. You just have to wait two more days.”
“What if I don’t want to wait? What if I don’t want to be a part of this damn pack?”
“You’ve no choice, Love. It’s your destiny.”
“I think I do have a choice. We are all of our own destiny, and mine doesn’t include wolves.”
“I understand your anger. Some destinies are paths already chosen.”
She smiled seductively.
I knew I had tossed and turned all night when I found Sam sleeping on the couch. It didn’t help that she was worried about what was happening to me as well. I just didn’t want to have to tell her that we may not be able to be together, and our future was about to change drastically. I quietly walked to the couch and watched her for a few more minutes. I felt my heart ache, and I didn’t want to ever have to let her go. Not ever.
“Cevin? What are you doing?”
“Good morning. I was just watching you sleep, wondering how I ever got so lucky to have you in my life. You’re so beautiful, I cherish and love you so much.”
“I love you too.” She smiled as I kissed her lips softly, breathing in her scent. I never want to forget her smell.
“Want some breakfast?”
“Sure. Can I jump in the shower quick while you cook?”
“Of course.”
“I won’t take long. Then we can talk while we eat.” She smiled and ran to the bedroom.
“Hey, Sam?”
“Yeah?”
“Sorry I kept you awake last night. I love you.”
“I love you too, Cevin.”
Mixing the batter for pancakes, I was trying to figure out in my mind what I was going to do. The phone startled me as it began ringing. Taking a deep breath to slow my racing heart, I answered it. “Hello.”
“Hi, Honey. Can
you come over today?”
“Sure, Mom. Everything okay?”
“Everything’s fine sweetie. I just wanted to talk to you.”
“Is it about that guy from the pictures? You know who it is?”
“I’ll talk to you when you get here. I love you honey.” She hung up.
Not liking the sound of it, I finished mixing the batter and threw some bacon on to fry. Sam and I ate, and I prepared myself for her questions. I was going to be as truthful as I could, for as much as I knew.
“So what did Sierra have to say?”
“I’m a wolf.”
Her fork clanked against the plate and she became as still as a statue. I kept eating like it was an everyday conversation.
“What do you mean you’re a wolf, Cevin?”
“Just as it sounds, Sam. I am a descendant of a wolf, and next in line to become an Alpha.” I looked at her, watching the emotions play across her face as it registered. “According to legend, I’m supposed to mate with the female Alpha on the night of the full moon, to seal the deal. That would be the woman from my dreams.” I took another bite of bacon, wishing it wasn’t cooked so much.
“You’re a wolf? A real wolf?” She started laughing uncontrollably, tears flooding her eyes.
“It’s not funny, Sam! I’m going to change into a damn Werewolf and I may have to give you up and all you can do is laugh?” I should have expected it. Who in this world believes that man turns into a wolf on the night of the full moon? If it were someone telling me that, I’d probably laugh too.
“What do you mean you’ll have to give me up?” Her laughing under control now, she became all too serious.
“It means that I’m supposed to become this woman’s mate, Sam. I’m supposed to rule some pack of wolves I don’t know, act like an animal that I find hard to believe I will change into myself, and I’m not sure, if it is true, if you will be safe around me! That’s what I mean!” I pushed my plate forward throwing the fork on top of it.
“Cevin, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to laugh. It’s just hard to take in.” She paused waiting for a response.
“I know. It’s hard for even me to believe, but I don’t know how else to explain these scratches and scars on my chest, or how real the dreams feel. You’ve said it yourself. Seen it yourself. You’ve seen me jacking off in my sleep, but in my dream it was that woman!” I could feel the heat rising in my cheeks from the frustration of it all. I was trying real hard not to take it out on Sam, but her laughing at me wasn’t helping.
