Sorrow flickered in his eyes as he looked at her and she read the truth in his eyes; he was married. For some stupid reason, a part of her had held onto the insane belief that there was an explanation for those papers; that he had had a real excuse. Anger closed up her throat. When had she become some pathetic excuse for a woman hoping some man had some excuse for lying to her?
Hate, pure and undiluted rose in her like a beast and she glared at him.
David shook his head, his heart squeezing at the expression in her eyes. “No. I was not married when I met you, not really.”
“Yeah I got that,” she snapped sarcastically. “You made me the other woman! You used me to cheat on your wife!”
“Listen to me,” he yelled, grabbing her shoulders in frustration.
“Take your fucking hands off me!”
“We separated a year ago Sherina, long before I met you. We were only proceeding with the divorce when we met. I swear, that’s the truth.”
“Well guess what? I don’t believe you,” she shot back heatedly.
David shut his eyes as though praying for patience and it infuriated Sherina all the more. “Sherina I have never lied to you. I didn’t tell you about Miranda yes, but only because there was nothing to tell! We were already separated; in fact the divorce is final now.”
She glared silently at him.
“Is this why you left? I have been to hell and back in the one month since you left me but even that is nothing compared to how you wound me now with your reluctance to believe I’m telling you the truth right now,” he said.
“Whatever you say David,” Sherina said, stepping around him and heading for the couch beside the tea table in her office.
David followed her.
“Sherina would you like to speak with my attorney? The divorce is complete; I swear. You were never the other woman; you are the only woman for me and I love you as I have never loved anyone.”
Her breath caught in her throat and her eyes flew to his, assessing.
“I love you Legs, and I’m sorry I hurt you. I never meant to; I could never want to hurt you,” he whispered.
Sherina’s eyes filled with tears as she read the truth in his gaze. Somehow, this strong, self-assured man had given his heart to her; he loved her and he was always hers.
“I love you too,” she responded, her heart thumping wildly in her chest as she said the words she had been choking back for months.
With a groan, David grabbed her and hauled her into his arms for a bruising, desperate kiss into which he poured all the love flowing in his veins.

Sherina grinned up at David as he came down on top of her in her bedroom hours later. He looked a little more like his old self and she marveled at the difference a few hours could make. He was still slim as ever but his eyes were alive and bright with their usual smoldering intensity. He had lost that ravaged, confused look he had this morning.
David took her lips in a wild, turbulent kiss that curled every last one of her toes. Then slowly, he lowered his lips to her neck and began to lightly kiss the exposed expanse of skin at her throat. Sherina moved restlessly against him, urging him on with her cries of pleasure. His lips moved from her neck, trailed a sensitive spot on her collarbone, and then lowered to her breasts, kissing, licking and suckling every inch of skin.
Sherina arched against him her hands slowly trailing over and caressing every inch of him. He groaned and captured her hands, raising them above her head. His lips feasted on her breasts as his hand trailed gently down to the juncture of her thighs. His lips followed his hands down her body and trailed down to her vagina, opening hotly over her soft clitoris.

Soon, he was screaming her name as he came powerfully; pouring his seed into her tight, wet, willing passage until he was drained completely.
Silence reigned as David collapsed onto the bed beside her; a silence broken only by the sounds of their panting breaths.
“Are you alright?” Sherina asked, leaning up on an elbow to stare into his dark, slumberous eyes, all her love for him shining through her eyes.
His gaze held hers, searching and intense. Something flickered in his eyes like a hint of uncertainty but it was gone before she could tell what it was.
“Well?” she asked, her tensing automatically as she searched his eyes for what he was holding back. Suddenly, she knew exactly what he was going to say and all her body tingled with expectation.
“Will you marry me Legs?” he asked tenderly.
Her smile broke across her face, warm as the sun breaking through the crowds. “Yes! Yes!”
She laughed and leaned down to kiss him, their mouths finding each other as passion swelled anew.
The front door shut with a loud bang just then and Deb’s voice rang clear through the entire house, “You are the worst Frenchman alive. Damn you to perdition!”
Her own bedroom door banged shut for good measure and Sherina sighed as she collapsed against David.
“Deb and Andre have been having some problems lately.”
“You don’t say,” he said, laughing with her. “They are both so temperamental. Should make for an interesting courtship.”
As their eyes met, Sherina felt the last of her reservations melt away; he was hers forever.
A little unsteadily, her heart thumping with love, Sherina met his lips with a kiss that promised forever. He was hers and he was perfect!
