Pick Your Poison Page 28

“Mine.” Divit hissed, his fangs sinking deep as I gasped his name.

The bed rattled as we slammed into each other and he pounded me into the bed. I was close, so close, grinding myself against him as I chased that sweet release. It hit me as his hips ground hard, mashing my clit, and I let off a shriek loud enough to scare everyone on this floor and possibly the next, crying out as he rammed my sweet spot on every jabbing, upward thrust.

Soon my mate joined me, growling against my skin, his fangs slipping free as he shouted out and emptied himself deep inside me.

There was nothing sweet about what we’d just done. It was sticky, sexy, sweaty, loud, rough, and unforgettable. It was messy, complicated, and everything in between. It was perfectly imperfect—it was us.

“I hope it’s always like this.” Singeing me with a dirty look as he removed the small plug I’d goosed him with, my mate nabbed up the towel from the bed, wrapping the plug in the towel and chucking it across the room to flop down beside me. Sighing wistfully, I turned to face him.

“What?” he said, knowing that look on my face.

“I didn’t say anything.” Another wistful sigh.

His index finger trailed down the length of my nose to bop the end. “You don’t have to. I know you.” Motioning me closer, he held his arms out.

Propping myself up on my elbow, ignoring the invite, my lips puckered. “I’ve been thinking...”

“No...” That one word had my mate groaning pitifully. “It’s dangerous when a woman thinks. My woman, at any rate.”

  “Div?”

“I’m afraid to ask... but what?”

  “I think... I think I want a dog.”

  “A dog?”

“Mmm-hmm,” I hummed, giving him a meaningful look.

“A dog?” And then his eyes bugged. “A dog! Already! B-b-but...” he spluttered, flat out panicking as he hopped up to pace. “You can’t want a dog now!”

  “I can’t?” My lips twitched.

  “NO!” he bellowed.

“Mmm...” I gave him a solid minute to mutter to himself. “Hey, glitter-dick?”

  “A baby?! I mean, a dog? I don’t... We can’t... No... but... we just... You can’t...”

“Stiffit?” I sang, turning and situating myself, propping my back up along the headboard.

Fluffing up the pillows and crossing my ankles as I watched, making myself comfortable, I sat back for the show. Looking as if he was on the verge of a heart attack, my cute-when-panic-ridden mate was just shy of crazy babbling, gripping at the roots of his luscious locks. I hoped he didn’t pull out too much, I wasn’t sure it would grow back and I rather liked sifting my fingers through it.

This went on for a few more minutes, much to my amusement, but then I just felt bad.

“Yo! Corpse groom!” I bellowed, snapping my fingers and chucking a pillow at his head, finally catching his attention.

“What?!” he snapped, whipping around to blink at me.

Chortling, I pointed at him, brimming with barely suppressed snort-laughs, and burst out cackling. “Kidding! Hah! You should have seen the look on your- Oh! Hey, what are you doing?”

“You little shit!” Divit snarled as he pounced me. “I’m going to bite your ass for that!”

“Ah! Nooo! Help! Someone help! Anybody! Crazy mate on a rampage! Ahhh! Bahaha! Oh, my god, I don’t care! You should have seen your- Ah! I can’t pee anyway and it was totally worth it! Not the feet! Not the feet! Gah! Eek! I’m still not sorry!”

“You’re a vile, evil little creature! Give me one good reason why I shouldn’t suck you dry?”

My laughs subsided as he glared down at me, squashing me with his bigger body. “Because you love me,” I said honestly.

Lips thinning as his glare subdued to a subtle glower, he waffled. “Shut up and kiss me, before I change my mind.” Eyes narrowing shrewdly, he grunted, waiting.

Laughing happily, lifting my face up to meet his, our lips just a hair’s breadth away, I murmured, “As you wish.”
