  Zappala’s estate was soon settled. The Santorini family kept their bakery thanks to the deal that he had worked out with Sister Ann. Holy Trinity received half a million dollars to spend on needed upgrades. Bishop donated the remainder of the estate to PAVE, a national organization devoted to shattering the silence of sexual violence.

  Like the wedding guest in “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner” by Coleridge, Michael Bishop woke the following morning, “a sadder but wiser man.”

  About the Author

  Anthony J. Pucci taught English for forty-three years. A native of Massachusetts, he has degrees from Merrimack College and Elmira College. His previous works include scores of book reviews for Kliatt and Library Journal as well as a curriculum guide for teaching Anne Tyler’s Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant published by The Center for Learning. He has one daughter who lives in Pittsburgh. He currently resides in Horseheads, New York with his wife, Cara. This is his first novel.
