Trust Too Much Page 18

So everything was perfect, Fee reflected as she and Simon emerged from the church in which the ceremony had taken place, pausing for the photographers.

A pretty blonde girl in a short skirt went by on the other side of the road. Fee saw the idly appreciative look Simon sent after her and she couldn’t hold back a gasp of laughter.

‘She’s gorgeous, isn’t she?’ she prompted.

‘Is she? I didn’t notice,’ Simon returned blandly, and then he gave a shout of joyous, triumphant laughter as he lifted her high in the air so that the pleated silk of her skirt fanned out. ‘No, there’s only you now, and for always, my darling Fee.’

As he lowered her again, Fee was content. He might look, but he would never look at anyone else the way he was looking at her now, warm blue eyes ablaze with love.

Simon was Simon, and she loved him.
