Lola's House (Lola Series) Page 22

by Groers, Suzie

'I can only guess that any wedding you plan will be done with class, Chrissie,' Robert says, to calm her down. 'And no doubt plenty of action too.'

'Ah, you know me well.' Chrissie grins again.

'So when do the preparations begin?' I ask, taking a forkful of heavenly shepherd's pie and thanking my lucky stars yet again that I now have Robert to cook for me.

'Well, I have plenty of ideas, and I've been thinking about venues.'

'We've been over to Somerford Hall this afternoon to check it out, so as long as they can fit us in,' Cal starts to say.

'Oh, I was building up to that,' Chrissie finishes.

'Fabulous.' I squeeze her hand. 'I'm just so happy for you, Chrissie.'

'And I you, with this gorgeous man under you roof now, I just hope I get to see you now and again.'

'Oh you will, don't worry.' I smile over at Robert again, wondering how I will ever manage to break away from his touch.

After Chrissie and Cal have left, and the dishes have been cleared away, Robert takes me in his arms again. 'Now, where were we before that interruption?'

'Just about here,' I reply, wrapping my arms around him and kissing him.

'Nice,' he says, 'how could I have forgotten this.'

Harley appears, wagging his tail and pushes his way between our legs. 'It looks like someone else doesn't want to be forgotten either.'

'You're not forgotten, buddy,' Robert says to him. 'I just have something else I need to attend to.'

He kisses a trail down my neck, and further down my body, until I am melting with pleasure at his touch, then scoops me up in his arms like I am no more than a feather, and carries me off up to our bedroom, and the bliss that awaits us there.
