“Absolutely.” She melted into his brother, wearing a matching goofy grin…and a rock on her ring finger.

  Wait…

“Did you two just get engaged?” He divided his gaze between the beaming couple.

“Yes. Five minutes ago,” Stone replied while still smiling at Jovy.

“Oh my God! Congratulations!” Beth released him to pull Jovy in for a hug, and as the women beamed over the diamond, he and Cord took turns congratulating his brother.

“So happy for you, bro.” He pulled Stone in for a back-slapping hug.

“Congratulations.” Cord actually smiled when he moved out of the way so the two men could shake hands. “When’s the happy day?”

“Yes, when are you going to make an honest man of my straight-shooting brother?” he asked, hugging his future sister-in-law.

Laughing, Jovy released him to hug Cord, then snuggled against his still grinning brother. “Well, we were thinking next month, if Beth wouldn’t mind helping me put it together.”

His angel grinned, settling against him again. “Of course not. I’d be thrilled to help.”

Damn, it felt great every time she slid her arm around him and held tight. He was lucky. His brother was lucky. He glanced over at his buddy, noting him frowning at his phone.

  “Something wrong?”

“I’m not sure.” Cord continued to stare at his text. “It’s Haley. She’s having some issues at her ranch.”

Brick exchanged a look with his brother. “Wow, something must be up if she’s asking for help.”

“Who’s Haley?” Beth glanced up at him.

  “Drew’s widow,” he replied.

  “Drew is Falcon?”

He nodded. “She owns a ranch a little over an hour from here.”

Cord slipped his phone back in his pocket before kissing his sister’s cheek. “The place looks great, Lizzie, but I’m sorry. I have to go.”

“Of course,” she replied. “Can we help?”

His snort echoed Cord’s and Stone’s. Haley was just as stubborn as the three of them. It was a miracle she even reached out to Cord.

“No. Thanks.” Cord stepped back. “She’d never accept it. You all stay here and enjoy the day. I’m going to pack a bag and head to her place.” His buddy’s gaze settled on him. “I’ll text you later.” Then he stopped in front of the happy couple. “Congratulations, again.”

A few seconds later Cord disappeared into the ranch.

Stone frowned. “Well, this should be interesting.”

  Brick nodded. “Agreed.”

  “Why?” Jovy asked.

“Those two always had this underlying connection,” Stone replied.

“Yeah.” He squeezed Beth’s shoulder. “But they never did anything about it because of Drew.”

“And you think they’re ready?” Beth stared at the house, frowning. “I don’t know. It’ll take a strong woman to tame my brother.”

He and Stone exchanged a look. “Well, Haley is certainly that.”
