When they placed her in her arms Felicia fell in love. She had never felt anything like this before. She immediately felt protective, as she looked her over. She could see both of their mothers in baby Faith’s face. Mama Eloise was crying and Tina hugged her daughter as they both shed tears. Eddie gathered enough strength to cut the cord so he felt hard all of a sudden because he didn’t pass out. Eddie kissed his wife on the forehead and Felicia placed baby Faith in his arms.

“There’s your Daddy, Faith.” Felicia said.

Eddie was in awe of his wife and his new baby. Tina snapped a bunch of pictures to send home to her family and Mama Eloise took about twenty pictures herself. The nurses came to take the baby to the nursery. Felicia didn’t want to let her go but they needed to check her.

On the way to the nursery Eddie called the family over to see his baby girl. They gathered around the bassinet to get a glimpse before the nurse took her to the nursery. Eddie followed the nurse to the nursery he didn’t want his baby girl out of his sight.

Edem was on his way to Women’s hospital when the storm came out of nowhere. Edem went faster so he could get out of the rain but as he turned the corner the roads were so slick that he slid and crashed his motorcycle, which sent him flying into the guard rail. He laid on the side of the road unconscious.

  ________

Bernice Watkins was rushed into the ER. They worked on her for a long time. They looked through her paperwork from surgery she had a year ago on her foot and she Denard Watkins down and Eloise Blanks down as a contact person.

Wesley Long hospital contacted Denard on his cell and he started screaming. He ran out of the house to get on his ten speed but the rain was coming down too hard so he called a cab. As he waited for the cab he called Sister Eloise. Eloise finally answered and Denard told her what he knew. Eloise told him she would meet him there.

Eloise told the family what happened to Bernice and she kept trying to get a hold of Edem. Something wasn’t sitting right in her spirit. She knew he would not miss the birth of his niece. She called his cell more time when a police officer answered the phone.

“Who is this? Where is Edem?” Eloise was angry someone had answered his phone.

“Ma’am, your son has been in a terrible motorcycle accident he’s on his way to Wesley Long hospital.”

“Oh my God. Oh my God! Is he okay?” Eloise started to cry and the family surrounded her.

“Ma’am, he was rushed to Wesley Long that’s all I know right now.”

Eloise fainted and she hit the floor. As the boys tried to pick her up Lacey got on the phone and spoke to the officer.

“Yes, yes, I understand, we’re on our way.” Lacey said into the phone.

Eddie met Edwin in the hallway to fill him in on Edem. Edwin told Eddie to stay with Felicia and they would keep him updated.

In the middle of the night the new family slept soundly from the exhausting day they had. When a woman came in the room and looked at everyone sleeping away. She went over to the bassinet and picked baby Faith up and walked out of the room with her. An hour later the nurse came in and saw the empty bassinet. She woke Felicia up and asked her where the baby was.

“She’s right here what are you talking about?” Felicia looked inside the bassinet just to find it empty and Felicia let out a blood curdling scream that echoed through the entire floor of the hospital.

The hospital went on lockdown. Baby Faith Blanks had been kidnapped.

  ________

The Blanks family sat around the waiting room wait of Wesley Long to hear some news about Edem. Lizzie had called Ruthie because she knew they were dating. Ruthie sat in the corner alone praying. Denard and Madear sat in the same waiting room waiting to hear something about Bernice. Madear had called the prayer circle at the church and everyone was praying.

Eddie called Edwin hysterical telling him that his baby girl was missing. Edwin relayed the message and Eloise started walking the floor praying. Her heart was in pieces over her baby boy, her new grandbaby and her best friend. “God please take this heavy load from me. Please!

Edwin received a text from Sheila.

HEY I JUST WANTED TO GIVE YOU A HEADS UP. JEZEBEL IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME PICKING UP A PERSCRIPTION FOR PRENATAL VITAMINS. LOOKS LIKE YOU MIGHT BE GETTING READY TO BE AN UNCLE.

Edwin read the text and looked over at Edmund. He texted back; THIS IS NOT A GOOD TIME, EDEM WAS IN A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT. WE’LL DISCUSS THIS AT A LATER TIME.

“Mud, come walk with me.” Junior and Mud walked out of the waiting room and he showed Mud the text from Sheila. The color in Muds face drained.

  “It could be anybody’s, right?”

Junior shrugged, “I guess it could be but it could be yours too, right?”

“Man, it can’t be. Tricia and I are just getting things straight and now this.” Mud rubbed his face.

“I know Mud, but I thought you ought to know. I didn’t want you to be caught off guard.” Junior put his arm around his little brother. As the oldest he always felt the need to protect all of his siblings.

“Yeah, I know. I’ll worry about that later. Right now I’m just going to focus on Edem and Baby Faith,”

“I’m with that, come on let’s get back in there. I wish they would come on, Mama doesn’t look too good.”

The waiting room was quiet that the silence was deafening. Denard Watkins looked extra slow and off as he sat reading his bible and murmuring to himself.

Madear seemed to have zoned completely out staring at the same spot for an hour. Mama Eloise was on the phone with Eddie and she felt terrible that she couldn’t be there. She tried to take her mind off of Edem. She believed that God would do a miracle and make every broken thing whole again. Not just for Edem but for all of her children. There was no doubt in her mind that her they were under attack by the enemy and Mama Eloise understood that this was fighting season. Mama Eloise got off the phone with Eddie and went to into prayer warrior mode.

“DEVIL YOU CAN’T HAVE MY CHILDREN! I COMMAND YOU IN THE NAME OF JESUS AND ALL THAT IS HOLY TO GET YOUR HANDS OFF OF MY FAMILY! RIGHT NOW! I COMMAND YOU EVIL SPIRIT TO FLEE! I PLEED THE BLOOD OF JESUS RIGHT NOW OVER MY FAMILY. SATAN YOU CAN’T HAVE MY CHILDREN! THE BIBLE SAID TOUCH NOT MY ANNOINTED. EDEM IS ANNOINTED! HE IS COVERED IN THE BLOOD. JESUS! RIGHT NOW GOD! MOVE IN THIS IN PLACE!”

Mama Eloise was almost in a trance like state walking back and forth repeating Jesus over and over again. She started speaking in tongues and was shouting at the top of her lungs but no one said anything to try and stop her. Junior knew he was witnessing spiritual warfare at its best.

After hours of waiting the doctor came into the hospital waiting room and said “I’m sorry we did all that we could do.”

Screams erupted from the waiting room and everyone dropped their head.
