by Rebecca York
Glancing up, she saw Shane gazing at her.
“Don’t worry about getting ready for the king. I’m willing to bet the Beau Pays sapphire that there’s a bathroom with a shower in that safe house. And a change of clothing for both of us.”
When she breathed out a sigh, he gave her a broad grin. “But I can’t guarantee that I’m not going to make love to you again in the shower.”
She grinned back. “I heard the maids talk about doing that, too.”
“Did you get all your sex instruction from the maids?”
“And a book my mother gave me. It was, uh, rather skimpy on the juicy details.”
“Well, I think you’re already doing a great job of filling in the blanks.”
She finished pulling on her clothes, and so did he. And before they climbed out of the limousine, she gave him a soft kiss. “My father taught me how to serve my people. Thank you for teaching me how to be happy.”
“We’re just getting started, sweetheart. We’re just getting started,” he said, then gave her a questioning look. “Do you think your father would object if you took a week off in the States, getting instructions from your new security expert?”
She started to give him reasons why it wouldn’t work, why she was too busy to take time off. But he plowed ahead. “Remember, you’re supposed to be thinking differently. This is a combination of R & R and a working holiday at my state-of-the-art facility in the White Mountains.”
“Right. Think differently,” she murmured. “Yes, I believe the king will agree. Now that he knows I’m safe with you.”
As they exited the car, she smiled at the man who had saved her life—in more ways than one. She knew she was the luckiest princess in the world. And she was going to remind herself of that every day for the rest of her life with this fantastic man.
