“That’s too bad. He was a tasty morsel.” The woman licked her lips.

“Still is.” Addie smirked. “Is there something you wanted from me since you followed me to the porta potty?”

“Just needed to confirm that ol’ sweet cheeks there is really taken.” She tilted her head towards the ball field.

Addie crossed her arms over her chest and raised an eyebrow at the woman in front of her.

“Listen honey…he’s very, very taken. So, whatever ideas you have or may have had…you’d better rethink them. I don’t share, and neither does he.”

“That’s too bad,” the woman said, sliding her hand out of her hair, letting her red nails skim down her neck to the inside of her breast, and down to her belly to rest with her other hand on her hip.

“Too bad for you.” Addie stated simply. “Excuse me, I’m here to watch my husband play ball.”

The woman just raised her eyebrows and moved her head so that her chin touched her shoulder in a gesture meant to be dismissive, but it was lost on Addie.

“That was all that about?” Maris asked, as Addie sat back down.

“She said she wanted to confirm that Conrad was married.” Addie watched as the woman in question make her way to the bleachers and pick up her fringed jacket and sit back down.

“Closure.” Lana stated. “She needed closure.”

“From what?” Addie muttered, as she turned around to watch as the game finished up. Conrad’s team had won. It was time to celebrate with pizza and beer. Conrad came off the field straight to her with his bag strung across his shoulder.

“You okay babe?” Conrad asked, giving her a quick kiss on the lips.

Addie sighed. “Do you know that chick over there with the hooker looking outfit?” Addie tilted her head to her right.

Conrad visibly cringed. “She used to go to the Mezzo. She was…” He stopped.

“She was what?” Addie asked, touching his cheek with her fingertips.

“She was one of Charles’ girls,” he said quietly.

Addie’s eyebrows shot up in surprise. “Well, she asked about you. To see if ‘sweet cheeks’ was really taken.”

Conrad shook his head slowly while looking at Addie. “No. She wasn’t.”

Addie opened her mouth to say something when Conrad cut her off.

“Did you ever wonder why you weren’t invited to his funeral?”

“His brother Chief said it was because they didn’t want anything military.” Addie answered, as Conrad took her hand and they walked to the truck.

“No.” He shook his head. “Tiffany there,” he tilted his head toward the bleachers, “begged him to marry her when she heard he wanted to marry you. To the point that she got pregnant. She and Lisa used to play at the Mezzo together…and before you ask, no, I didn’t. Not with that skanky bitch.”

Addie watched Conrad as he sat on the tailgate of his truck, changing his cleats as he explained everything. She didn’t know what to say.

“I happened to be standing talking about you, when she suggested that I marry you so that she could have Charles. He told her that she wasn’t the marrying kind. He apparently didn’t see the devastated look on her face. Then wouldn’t you know it…a month later…BOOM! She’s pregnant.

“She delivered while he was out in the field a few nights before the jump. His parents adopted the kid.” Conrad stood in front of Addie and took her in his arms. “I’m so sorry baby.”

She hugged him back. “It’s in the past. I’ll be okay.”

Conrad pulled away from her a few inches to lean down and kiss her lips in soft, tantalizing kisses.

“I think you got the better deal,” he teased.

Addie’s smile brightened, the story she’d just heard flew out of her mind, making her not regret her decision long ago to break up with Charles.

“Oh, I know I got the better deal.” Addie lifted up on her tip-toes to kiss her husband one more time.

“Alright you two…it’s beer and pizza time!” Someone shouted from the parking lot.

Conrad raised his arm and gave a thumbs up, but he didn’t stop kissing his wife. This time it was Addie that pulled away from Conrad, smiling.

“We better get going before you get carried away and you take me up against the truck.”

“Nah,” Conrad smiled, “I was thinking of the bleachers or the dugout over there after everyone leaves.”

Addie wiggled her eyebrows at him and smiled.

“You’re good though…about…” He couldn’t finish the statement.

Nodding her head, she gave him a quick kiss.

  “Feed me,” she said laughing

“I’ll feed you. My cock.” Conrad laughed, taking her hand and led her to the passenger side of the truck where he opened the door and picked her up and put her in. He closed the door when she pulled the seatbelt over her.

“Yeah, no surprise there.” Addie laughed. Conrad rolled his eyes laughing with her.

  THE END…FOR NOW
