He was very well endowed. I would rise up until his penis would nearly come out, then I would slowly reinsert it. The maneuver gave his penis the ultimate depth. It would rub against my clit and send vibrations of pleasure through my body. It was beyond a doubt the best position for a woman having sex with a man. It was complete control.
After a half hour of indulging myself, I finally gave him the okay to climax. "Now I want you to screw me hard, as hard as you can.” He pushed up on me with all his strength. For me, it was like riding a wild horse in the rodeo. I could feel him building for release. I could see the pleasure rushing across his face. I timed one of my orgasms to his coming. We came together. I draped my body over his. I put my lips to his lips. I stuck my tongue into his mouth. We fell asleep in that position for an undeterminable amount of time.
Chapter 9
We both revived from our slumber about the same time. I moved my body off his and climbed out of the bed. I was in need of a shower.
As he climbed out of bed he asked, "Where are you going?”
"I’m going to take a shower,” I said, in answer to his question.
I stepped into the shower. He was right behind me. We both indulged ourselves in the shower for more than a half hour. After we stepped out and dried off, Colin suggested that we go out and have some dinner. He said all of that sex had him ravenous. We got dressed and Colin called a cab. When it arrived, Colin had the driver take us to a restaurant in the Village
He hadn’t made a reservation, but it wasn’t all that crowded. It was still early. They seated us immediately. One thing I’ve learned in my short time in this city, most people in New York eat dinner later than in other parts of the country.
When it came time to order, I decided to order cranberry juice instead of wine. I was a little hung over from drinking the wine that afternoon.
After dinner, we walked back to Colin’s apartment. I told him I would like to spend the night. I wanted to be close to the Village. Colin had a meeting with the Director of "Boys in the Band” the next morning. I intended to walk down to the Off-Broadway theater. My plan was to have an early lunch somewhere close to the theater. I wanted to be on time. One of the things Ms. La Bonti impressed upon the class was: "In the theater, punctually is imperative.”
Colin and I had a quickie before going to sleep. We were both bushed from our matinee. The alarm clock was set for seven o’clock. Colin intended to fix a hearty breakfast before leaving for his meeting.
The next morning, we both were out of bed, in the shower and dressed in about fifteen minutes. Colin went into the kitchen and began to perform his culinary duties. I set the table. Then I sat and drank coffee watching him preparing our breakfast. Before too long everything was on the table and served. For the next hour, we sat at the kitchen table and bragged how fortunate we both were. It was a near miracle that two people, who had been in New York for a matter of weeks, to get cast in professional shows.
Colin looked at his watch. He announced that he had to leave. I told him that I would take care of cleaning the soiled dishes. I walked with him to the elevator. We kissed goodbye. We agreed to meet back at the apartment after we had finished our business.
I finished doing the dishes and put them away. Then I sat down in the living room. I began to look at magazines that were on the coffee table. The Village was about a mile from the apartment. I decided to leave around eleven o’clock. That would place me in the Village around eleven-thirty. I could spend some time walking around to get familiar with the various neighborhoods. I remembered the restaurant that Colin and I had visited before attending the audition. That was the best place, I deduced, to get lunch before my meeting with Mr. Golden.
At exactly eleven o’clock, I left the apartment. Colin had given me a key in the event I would return before him. That wasn’t likely, but it was a precautionary act of consideration on Colin’s part.
It was the perfect day weather-wise. I took my time walking to the Village. I still couldn’t believe my luck. I had to pinch myself every once in a while. When I was in Kansas, I would never have dreamed that I would be doing professional theater after being in New York for only five weeks.
When I reached the Village, I remembered much of what Colin had told me when I first came here with him. The first thing I did was locate the theater. Then I located the closest subway station. I would be commuting from Brooklyn once I started rehearsals. At the station, there was arrival times listed from Brooklyn. That gave me an idea as to when I would have to leave my house.
After walking all the famous streets in the Village, I went to the restaurant to have lunch. After I was seated, I noticed the young man Colin pointed out the day we auditioned. Colin said that he had been in the Summer Stock Company with him. He was sitting at a table alone. Since I knew he had auditioned for the play, I assumed he must have been cast as well.
I decided to make a bold move. I stood and walked over to his table. I extended my hand. "Hi! My name is Androgyny. I saw you the other day in here and at the auditions. My friend Colin told me that he knew you from doing Summer Theater.”
He stood and took my hand. "My name is Jim Di Angelo.” He looked me up and down. Then he said, "Yes, Colin and I worked together this past summer. Please sit down.”
I sat down across from him. The other day, I’d never really gotten a good look at him. Sitting there a short distance away, I noticed he was very handsome. He had beautiful olive skin, black hair and black penetrating eyes. He also had an incredible smile. My curiosity got the best of me. "Are you here today for the same reason as me?” I inquired.
"Since you ask, I assume you have a meeting with Mr. Golden. Were you cast in the play?” he asked.
I knew that Colin had been offered the lead and turned it down. "Yes, I got the call two days ago. I’ve been cast as the female lead. What about you?” Which part are you going to play?”
"I was offered the male lead.” He took a slight pause and displayed that beautiful smile. Then he said, "That makes us stage lovers.”
I thought I would make a joke. "I don’t know if I should kiss you now or wait until we’re on stage.”
He laughed at my comment. He had a good sense of humor. That was important to me in making a new friend. Somehow, I knew this was going to be a good collaboration. "Do you mind if I sit here and have lunch with you, Jim?”
"Please, I hate to eat alone. Besides, it will give us a chance to get to know one another,” he said.
"What time is your appointment with Mr. Golden?” I inquired.
"He asked me to arrive around one-thirty. What about you?” he asked.
"I guess he wanted us to meet one another. It’s kind of ironic. Here we are having lunch before the introduction meeting,” I jested.
We sat and talked for about a half hour. Jim had been in New York, off and on, for five years. I assumed he came from wealth. He said he had a house in the Village. Not many struggling actors can afford something like that. He inquired about my background and where I previously lived.
When I told him that I had only been living in New York for five weeks, his jaw dropped.
"You must have given one hell of an audition. I’ve never worked with Golden, but I’ve heard that he’s very particular. He usually likes to work with seasoned actors,” he confidentially told me.
We had finished our lunch. I looked at my watch. It was one twenty-five. "I think we should go,” I said, as I stood up from the table. Jim put some money in the check jacket and stood as well. I handed him ten dollars for my lunch. He refused to take it.
"I’ll let you pick up the check the next time. I’m sure we are going to be having many lunches together in the near future,” he casually said.
We left the restaurant and walked up to the theater. When we entered the lobby, a young woman was sitting at the same table as the other day.
She looked up and greeted us. "Jim and Androgyny, I have something for both of you.” She handed each of us envelops with our names typed on them.
I opened mine. It contained two copies of the contract and the rehearsal schedule. "Mr. Golden would like each of you to sign one the contracts. I can witness them. I’m a notary. Afterwards, I will escort the two of you back to Mr. Golden,” she said.
I took the contract from the envelope and gave it a cursory glance. The contract duration was for the run of the play. I was to be given one thousand dollars a week for the first year. Thereafter, I would receive twelve hundred weekly. I was also committed to the production if it were to tour. Either party could terminate the agreement after giving a ten week notice. The producer, Mark Kennedy, had signed both copies. I signed the one copy and handed it to the young woman. Jim followed suit. After she took the contracts from us, she directed Jim and me to follow her. She took us into the Green Room. She had Jim and I take a seat.
"Mr. Golden will be with you in just a moment.” She left us alone.
We sat quietly. Within a minute, the door opened and Mr. Golden came in. We both stood to greet him. "I’m so happy to make both of your acquaintances and to have the privilege of directing you in this play. Have the two of you been introduced?’ he asked.
I spoke up. "Yes, we have a mutual friend. We also had lunch together a little while ago.”
"That’s wonderful. I want to take a moment and explain to both of you how I work. If you’ll refer to your rehearsal schedules, you’ll see that I expect to accomplish certain aspects of the script by certain times. Please note the address of the rehearsal hall. It’s not more than a block from here. All the rehearsals will be conducted there until final dress. For the first five rehearsals, I intend to do the blocking. As both of you know, that can be very tedious. After the blocking, we will go back and run the blocking to ensure that it works. At that time, we may have to make some adjustments. Then we will begin doing a run through. In addition to the staging, I will be concentrating on your characterizations. After a few of those rehearsals, I will expect you to be off book. I will begin to take notes. The notes will be given to each of you at the end of the day. I expect you to take them home for study. The next step is the dress rehearsals a week before opening.” He took a moment for us to digest everything he had just said. "Are there any questions?” he asked.
Neither of us said anything. "Good,” he said. "Both of you have been in many plays so you know the drill. I expect you to be at rehearsal a half hour before it is scheduled to begin. It’s five days a week, eight a day.” He took another little pause and smiled. "I’m very pleased to being working with the two of you. My instincts tell me that you are two very talented individuals.” Then he handed each of us a script.” Go home and get familiar with the script. I’ll see both of you first thing Monday morning. At that time, I’ll introduce you to the rest of the cast and crew.” He shook our hands and left the room.
Jim and I left the theater. After that meeting, we both needed a drink. We walked back to the restaurant. We sat down at the table where we had lunch and a glass of wine. I was excited and frightened at the same time.
Jim looked at me and said, "Are you alright? You suddenly got a little pale.”
"I’m scared to death. The insecurity monsters have taken over. I went through this the first time I was cast in a play at college. But, after I got one or two shows under my belt, those feelings eventually subsided. Now, I’m starting all over again,” I confessed to him.
Jim touched my hand in a comforting manner. "I had a drama teacher once tell me, if you’re not nervous when you are about to go on stage, there’s something the matter with you.”
The waiter came to our table and we ordered a bottle of wine. I was looking forward to working with Jim. I hadn’t had the privilege of hearing him read, but I was sure he’d be wonderful. I didn’t mention to Jim that Colin was Mr. Golden’s first choice for the part. That was something I intended to keep to myself. I don’t need my leading man having doubts about his talent.
We got carried away in our conversation. When I looked at my watch it was five-thirty. Some people were coming in and ordering dinner. Jim invited me to have dinner with him. After thinking about it for a minute, I agreed. We had a nice dinner and continued our delightful conversation from the afternoon.
When we finished, I told Jim I had to get back. I asked him to call me a cab. I didn’t want to walk back to Colin’s apartment at night and alone. He used the phone in the restaurant. We stepped out onto the curb. Jim waited with me until the cab arrived. After about ten minutes, the cab drove up. Jim opened the cab door. I kissed him on the cheek and said, "I’ll see you bright and early on Monday morning.”
It was only a short ride to Colin’s apartment. When I arrived, I rang the doorbell. Colin was still not at home. I used the key that Colin had given me that morning to let myself in. I was glad I had accepted Jim’s offer for dinner. I was only in the apartment for a few minutes when the telephone rang. When I answered it, there was a woman’s voice at the other end.
"Hello, this is Alyssa. With whom am I speaking?” she asked.
"My name is Androgyny,” I replied.
"I’m a friend of Colin’s. We attended college together. I’m in New York. I thought maybe I could hook up with him if he had some free time,” she inquired.
I thought I would have some fun with her. "Unfortunately, Colin is very busy at this time planning for our wedding.” I waited for a response. There was a long pause.
"Colin is getting married?” she said incredulously. She took another long pause. "The Colin I knew in college was a confirmed bachelor,” she informed me with a certain authority.
"That may very well have been the Colin you once knew. But after he spoke with my father, he decided to do the honorable thing. You see, I’m eight weeks pregnant. I’m only eighteen years old. My father threatened to kill him if he didn’t marry me before the baby was born. We don’t have bastards in our family. When Colin saw my father meant business, he proposed. That was three weeks ago,”
There was another long pause. "Well, please tell Colin I called and congratulations to both of you. Goodbye.”
I began to laugh. I was crying tears as the elevator door opened and Colin came into the apartment. "What’s so funny?” he inquired.
"I was just recalling my last semester in college and some of the funny things that happened to me,” I told him. I immediately changed the subject. "So how was your day?”
"It was interesting. I learned that all of the actors who were cast in ‘Boys in the Band’ are gay. I had one attempt to put a move on me. But I let him know, in no uncertain terms, that I didn’t go that way.” The director is a woman. But, I think, after observing her today that she may be a lesbian. This is going to be a very interesting experience.”
Colin crossed to the refrigerator and began to pull out food. "Don’t fix anything for me. I had dinner with my leading man,” I teasingly said.
"Oh really, and who may that be?” he inquired.
"Jim Di Angelo. I would also like to add that he’s a very nice man,” I told him.
Colin took a slight pause. Then he said, "Be careful with that one. He bedded every woman, young and old, in the Summer Stock Company. But, you’re right. He is very nice and an accomplished actor as well.”
I set the table and poured myself a glass of wine. Then I sat down and talked with Colin while he fixed his dinner. "I suppose I should go down to the school tomorrow and withdraw. I’ll probably lose my tuition for the semester, but that’s the price I’ll have to pay for quitting. What about you? Are you going to formally withdraw?” I asked.
"Did you pay the tuition for the entire semester?” he asked incredulously.
"It came to nine thousand, twenty-eight dollars and fifteen cents.”
"Didn’t you know that you could pay monthly?” he asked.
"I remember the treasurer saying something about that, but I didn’t want to be bothered having to remember to write a check every month.” Colin just shook his head in a form of disgust. When his dinner was ready, he sat across from
me at the table. For a full five minutes, he didn’t say a word. Then he inquired if I intended to spend the night. I was in one of my playful moods. So I said, "Only if you promise to have sex with me tonight before we go to sleep.” He looked up and smiled. The smile said everything. It was worth a thousand words.
Colin had a glass of the wine and I polished off the rest of the bottle. Fortunately, it was only half full. After Colon finished eating, we cleared off the table and walked into the living room area. We exchanged our respective contracts to look them over. Colin was a lot more familiar with these legal documents than me.
"Theater contracts are usually the same. They were all written by equity lawyers. It was just a matter of filling in the blanks by the various theater companies,” Colin told me.
Although, my contract had some variations and language that Colin’s didn’t have in his. It addressed taking the show on the road at some future date. Colin said that was a good clause. It protected me once the show closed. They would have to offer me the same part and salary if the show would tour.
I decided to spend the night. First thing in the morning, I was going to go down to the school. Afterward, I was going to go home and begin studying the script.
Colin showed me the script from "Boys in the Band.” He even read me a few parts from the play. The lines that Colin read to me were hilarious. I was confident he was going to get good notices from doing his part. We sat and talked until nearly eleven o’clock. I never mentioned the phone call from Alyssa.
I was tired. When we got into bed, I let Colin take me. He has this problem with premature orgasms. I let him do his thing. Within five minutes, he was finished. If we continue this relationship in the future, I will have to work on his problem. I rolled over and went to sleep.
Bright and early the next morning, Colin moving around in the kitchen awakened me. I got out of bed, took a shower and packed my overnight bag. Colin called from the kitchen that breakfast was on the table. With bag in hand, I crossed over to the kitchen area and sat at the table. Colin put a plate of eggs, bacon and toast in front of me. Colin sat down and we began to eat.
