Anne closed her eyes and screwed up her face in an effort to make them appear. Nothing happened.
“Relax, Anne. I think you’re trying too hard.”
Anne took a deep breath and this time her wings did appear. She opened her eyes and shrieked for joy. He spread his wings and flapped them so he rose a few feet off the ground. Anne did the same and was before him, reaching out to take his hands. She giggled as she hovered, but she was flying. He turned and headed out across the valley and Anne followed him. She whooped and hollered as she flew over the tree tops and then back to the house.
When she landed on the balcony again, the others were waiting for her and cheered. Today was the first day of a wonderful new life for both of them.
Chapter 24
Wedding bells
Anne’s stomach did a flip as she stared at herself in the mirror. She was wearing a beautiful ivory wedding dress. Six months ago, she never thought she would find a man. Now she had a whole family, and wings to boot.
New York had been a success and both sides were working together. She also knew of at least twenty couples who had now converted. It was thought without the connection with Homeworld anymore, the Midworlders bodies were not reacting the same. Their power seemed to be less but still equal on both sides.
Nicole and Evie walked in. Now that she and Soren lived on the ranch, it seemed like the best place to hold the wedding. Their friends from Australia were all here, and as promised, Jeanette and Gavin had been taken flying. Genia was trying to aid with Jeanette’s healing but could only help with comfort and more time. Fiona couldn’t stop smiling and kept asking Tiny if he would take her flying.
The FBI were looking into the stem cell treatments that Burtrom’s doctor was assessing and considered there might be some cures for people.
Nicole carried Ellen, who was all dressed up as a flower girl.
“You look beautiful,” Evie said.
Anne decided to let them both in on her secret.
“The dress is a bit tight. I wanted you both to know. I’m pregnant.”
Nicole and Evie hugged her.
“I’m sorry, Evie, I know you can’t have any children.”
“Don’t be silly, Anne. I’m quite happy to be around everyone else’s. Plus, we’ve decided we will foster kids. Now let’s get you married.”
The wedding was held outside and Anne felt a lump in her throat when she gazed at Soren as he waited for her. Her father stood next to her giving her away. She had only one regret, that her aunt wasn’t here for her happy day.
She and Soren took their vows and were pronounced man and wife. Soren leaned forward and kissed her. He then whispered in her ear.
“Thank you for coming into my life and saving me.”
“You saved me, too.”
Everyone cheered as he picked her up and swung her around. Anne leaned in and whispered in his ear. “You may be getting two for the price of one, though. I’m pregnant.”
Soren smiled at her and then grinned.
“I’ll let you tell your father he’s about to become a grandparent. The first ever Midworlder to be one.”
“I think all our lives will be filled with firsts, but as long as we are together, we’ll survive.”

HIDDEN MORTALITY
In Bath in 1850 a witch is murdered in a ritual granting longevity to four men. What they are not aware of is that she has bestowed the same power to another called Seth to avenge her death.
Cara is a descendant of the witch and fills her days with food with her Irish-themed catering business. Her nights are another matter; they are full of erotic dreams of a mysterious lover, or nightmares with mutilated bodies. So this wasn’t the best time for her Nana to tell her she is coming into her power.
Of the original four immortals, Vincent is the only one left and to stop his own long life from fading he needs another witch to kill. Seth was meant to protect the witch’s descendants from a distance, but with Cara he can’t stay away. He has to make a choice to love Cara, or avenge the original death and possibly die himself. Cara has the fight of her life on when one man comes to kill her, and another to love her.

UNKNOWN PROTECTOR
Two things have helped Nicole cope since the murder of her husband. One is running her detective agency, and the other is her guardian angel, Mira. When Mira is killed by a demon, Nicole accepts the help of a Ridge, a long-haired, cigar-smoking diamond in the rough with wings. Things go from bad to worse when a replacement guardian cannot be found. She has to trust Ridge, which is tricky when she realizes there are no demons or angels, just parasitic aliens that humans have built the myths of these celestial beings around. Ridge isn’t an angel or a devil, but an alien half breed known as a Midworlder. He is also way too sexy for his own good.
