A Certain Intimacy Page 12

“I really love this picture of you. I might get it framed,” Iris said.

Nat pushed Iris's chin up so she could kiss her again.

“Will you kiss me for a while,” Nat asked tenderly.

Iris turned, pulling back so she could draw her leg up and put her palms on Nat’s cheeks. She looked into her eyes, telling her things that couldn’t be spoken. Iris felt Nat becoming a part of her bones. She leaned in and kissed her. They shared a sweet kiss and then Iris invaded Nat’s mouth with her tongue, demanding more. Nat whimpered and Iris slid closer, moving her hands to Nat’s hair.

They kissed until the driver stopped the car and they had arrived but Iris didn’t pull back immediately. She tugged on Nat’s bottom lip with her teeth and kissed her one last time before she opened her eyes and tried to clear the haze from her mind.

  “Guess we’re here,” Iris said.

Nat cleared her throat and smiled breathlessly. “Guess so,” she sleepily said. Iris saw that her cheeks were flushed and she was definitely happy.

“Mmm, remember this make out session when you have to kiss Michael today,” Iris teased.

“Aw fuck,” Nat choked on a laugh. She’d completely forgotten about that.

“Yeah, I’m gonna watch to make sure he doesn't put his hands in places that aren’t necessary,” Iris sniffed.

“It'll be fine,” Nat teased. “I'll just try to imagine that he’s you.”

“Oh, don’t do that, you might kiss him like you mean it and he’ll think he has a shot. Kissing you should be classed as a drug,” Iris warned.

They got out of the car and Iris stretched. She was stiff from being in that one position for so long. It felt nice to have freedom to move but more kissing would have been better. They went straight to hair and makeup and got fixed up before getting their wardrobe and reporting to set.

Iris bombed the first scene and had to get herself together so they could get it right but they made up a little ground in the next few when everyone nailed their lines and the director was happy with the performances. Then, it was time for the scene Iris had been dreading.

She stood beside Erin, one of the production assistants and watched Nat and Michael talk before they started shooting. They were both very good actors and they had good chemistry. Iris knew it was the job. It didn’t bother her that much. She just didn’t like it because Michael was clearly interested in Nat. And of course he was, they’d had a chemistry read to make sure.

They spoke with the director for a minute and then started shooting. Michael moved in close and Nat responded with what looked like real attraction. Iris sighed and thought of the way Nat looked at her. It was different from how she was looking at Michael now.

He kissed her and they shared the moment, making it look real. The director called cut and they reset to get it from a few other angles. In the end Iris ended up watching them kiss six times and she was getting a little weary.

When the director finally called cut for the last time and told them it was all that he needed, Nat and Michael walked toward Iris together.

  “Good job, guys,” Iris complimented.

Nat shook her head at her and tried not to say something telling.

“Did it look good?” Michael blushed.

Nat didn't say anything, just went to stand near Iris and touch her hand to her lower back.

“It did, very convincing,” Iris said.

Nat wondered what Iris wanted from her. Her urges wanted her to out them right now but Iris had been so chaste on the set.

Nat leaned in and whispered. “I really want to kiss you.”

Iris took a beat and grabbed Nat's hand.

“Since you guys are done I'm going to borrow Nat. We have our own scene to rehearse,” Iris smiled and stepped away from Michael. “See ya later,” she waved.

She wasn't going to make it far without kissing Nat so she walked back further into the set to an area that had lots of props scattered around.

Iris closed the door and walked Nat back into it, kissing her with desperation. Nat got lost in it immediately, she was back to the morning when the kisses were enough to stop time and elevate her.

“Fuck, I miss you,” Nat rasped.

“Mmm, me too. It took forever to get that scene. I just… fuck it, wasting time,” Iris said.

She went back to kissing Nat, tugging on the shirt she was wearing to try and get closer. They had one more scene to film and a finite amount of time until they were due on set.

“You look so cute today,” Nat breathed. “I keep staring. Your lips are so sexy.” As they kissed she kept oversharing.

“I know I've been staring right back. It's a miracle we've managed to work,” Iris replied.

Nat flipped their positions, trading places with Iris and sneaking her hand down her pants to feel. “Fuck,” she whined as soon as she touched her.

“I've been wet since this morning. It gets worse every time you look at me. I've ruined these pants,” she breathed.

Nat licked and bit at her neck, growling now.

“That sound makes it a lot worse,” Iris informed her.

Iris put her hand on Nat's arm, pushing her hand further down. “See,” she whispered, kissing Nat's neck. “It's all for you.”

Nat slipped a couple fingers inside and locked eyes with hers watching Iris as her mouth dropped open. A pained whine escaped Iris and Nat knew she was doing things right. Iris was so adorable and sexy at the same time, her voice had the power to excite Nat so easily. Even when she was just talking, Nat felt arousal. She’d noticed it while they were standing around on set. How just Iris's voice speaking normally to anyone, it turned her on.

“I love your voice, honey,” Nat confessed while she was fucking her. She pushed her body in against hers so that Iris’s lips were near her ear and she could hear the shaky breathing that escaped her. Her free hand pushed against Iris's boob and Nat wondered if it would be okay to taste her.

“You are so hot,” Iris panted.

Nat felt the rush down through her body, all the instant attraction because of that voice. “Can I taste you baby?”

They still had a scene so she worried but she wanted to taste her so badly and she knew it would relax her, help her.

Iris nodded and rested her head on Nat.

“Please. I need you to,” she whispered.

Nat felt her body shudder, then she turned her lips in toward Iris's neck and started to kiss it before dipping down her body and tugging her pants off far too quickly. Her hands found Iris's ass and her tongue sunk inside her quickly, easily tasting and teasing her wet sex.

Nat knew there wasn't time, she snuck her fingers back in her and started to work. It wasn't hard, just methodical. Iris was too sexy here and she wanted her relaxed again.

A flash of a memory came back to Nat. A time when she'd done this before in a place just like this. She groaned into Iris's sex, not expecting the pleasing memory of Olivia to pile on with the new perfect memory of Iris she could have and just keep.

Above her, Iris was biting her hand to keep from making more noise than she should but whimpers and groans made their way past the blockade.

A strangled scream tumbled out as she came. Her legs gave way and her weight shifted further onto Nat.

Nat drank in her fluid, swallowing it and making sure she'd gotten the orgasm all out. This would help Iris, that they had done this. She had seen how anxious she was off to the side of that stupid kissing scene. Nat moved back up her body and sunk her tongue and lips in against Iris’s. They were both so drunk on new love.

“Mmmm,” Nat hummed into her, more aroused than before. She didn't need to get off though, they could go back. “You taste so good baby,” her whisper pinched out.

“Uhhh,” was all Iris managed to say.

She used the door to push herself back up to stand.

“You just mixed up all my insides. I don't know if I can go back out there,” Iris laughed adorably.

  Nat
kissed her neck and her mouth, taking control of her and keeping her with her hand at the back of her neck. “Stay,” Nat suggested. “They hadn't even called break yet. I'm sure almost everyone is eating.”

“No, I should get some water and try to look normal for the scene,” Iris said.

She bent down and pulled up her pants and tried to smooth the hair that had escaped her bun. Elena would fix it before they started shooting anyway.

  “Come on,” she said.

Nat let her lead her and tug on her hand. They walked outside and stopped. A wall of people were standing just outside of their door. Realization hit. If they were close, they must’ve heard.

There was no way that they didn't hear them.

Michael walked past and stopped beside Nat. He grinned and winked.

“I don't remember that scene from the script,” he said.

“Oh my god,” Nat blushed, annoyed and mortified. She used her hands to physically push him.

Michael laughed and so did she but she was scared about how Iris would really feel about other people having heard.

Michael walked away, back toward where they were setting up the camera.

Iris leaned over and took Nat's hand.

“I think they might know,” Iris said.

She half scoffed and half laughed, smiling over at Nat.

“Yeah,” Nat laughed. “Baby. They know.” It was written on all of their faces. They were all pretending not to be completely amused.

“Good. I'm happy. I kinda wish they found out a different way but what can you do? I regret nothing,” Iris said.

Nat leaned in and hugged her shoulders, still alight with joy. “Now I can touch you more without being scared about it.”

They hadn't been touching much on set and Nat kinda hated that since it confused her.

“Yeah, I don't know why but I just didn't know if you wanted people here to know yet. I always want to touch you. I was afraid it was too much,” Iris confessed.

“I've wanted to be touching you and kissing you this whole time,” Nat said. “I don't care what people think. It's none of their business. But if it makes you nervous or worried I'm fine with being as private as we can. Just let me know what you like, okay? I can't just touch you without knowing. I'm too worried.”

“I want us to just be normal. I don't care about anyone else. I'm not worried about that. You ground me even more when we're touching.”

Nat stopped in the middle of the room and faced her, pushing a stray lock of hair back behind her ear and holding her forearms. “Kiss me,” she asked.

If Iris was serious, this would prove it. No more confusion. Nat wanted to be cuddly on set and have fun but Iris came off so serious accidentally that she'd been too scared to push the boundary.

Iris smiled, focusing on Nat and no one else. She leaned forward and kissed her, starting with a soft peck and escalating to a deep, thirsty kiss.

“Mmm,” she hummed after the kiss ended.

Nat smiled all breathless and pulled her in for a hug. “Thank you,” she whispered.

  “Anytime,” Iris chuckled.

She kissed the top of Nat's shoulder and sighed.

If anyone was still in the clouds about them now they actually knew. While they were kissing the volume of chatter in the room had gone down and several people nudged other people to get them to see.

Iris kept one of Nat's hands in hers and turned to face them.

“Let's hit craft service before they make us get to work. I'm thirsty,” Iris said to Nat.

  “Yes ma'am,” Nat teased.

They walked toward the little crowd, which parted before them. No one said anything and several people just smiled at them.

“Wonder what they're looking at,” Iris joked and bumped Nat's shoulder with her own as they walked. Nat stared over at her with adoration. She touched Iris’s side with her hand and scratched at her tummy lovingly.

“I’m starting to get really used to this,” Nat sighed. It made her nervous but she really wanted it. She reached for a sandwich and a prepacked fruit side, taking an expensive canned coffee and a bottled water as well. There was a comfy couch set up off to the side near the main door, Nat could see that it was free and she wanted it. “How ‘bout there?” She asked.

“Perfect,” Iris said. She took the same things Nat did and followed her over to the couch, sitting down and moving close so that as much of their bodies were touching as was possible.

Nat was actually starving since she didn’t really finish her dinner the night before. In the morning they only grabbed coffees and pastries. She was being stupid and she needed to eat so she was making herself. In her pocket, her phone buzzed and she ignored it. Usually she, Avery, and Olivia would be texting all day but she’d gone dark on them, a trial run.

As her phone buzzed, Nat ignored it and ate her sandwich.

“Babe, you’ve got…” Iris started before she reached over and brushed a crumb off of Nat’s face, just at the edge of her lip. “There, all gone.”

Nat stared and smiled adoringly. Iris smiled right back at her and opened the fruit cup, offering Nat a spoonful. Nat opened her mouth and then stared at her while she tasted the fruit.

  “You’re unbelievably cute,” Iris said.

She ate a spoonful of the fruit and sighed with contentment. She was on top of the world. Nat put her up that high and Iris really wanted to stay there. She hadn’t ever been this happy in such a small space of time. She had wings and no one could shoot her down right now.

Nat didn’t know what to say. No matter what she did she wanted to be closer. She pushed her plate over to the side table and shifted her body so that she could rest on Iris and hold her. Food could wait.

“Do you have a favorite food?” Iris asked.

“Right now? You,” Nat said, honestly. She pulled Iris closer and kissed her neck. “What about you?” Nat asked. “Nashville. That’s- that’s what? Barbeque?”

Iris shook her head and laughed at Nat’s flirt and then took to answering her question.

“It’s not famous for BBQ, that’s Memphis, but we have it, of course. My favorite is breakfast food. My mom always gets up and cooks when I’m home. She does a whole spread in the morning. Eggs, sausage, bacon, sliced tomatoes from the garden if they’re in season, homemade sausage gravy, and biscuits. It’s literally the best. I hope you get to experience it someday.”

“Do you miss them,” Nat wondered, tenderly. She kissed up the side of Iris’s head and openly pet her.

“A lot but I go back as often as I can. Usually, I take a vacation every year. I was supposed to go before the movie started filming but they moved everything up so I had to cancel and move it to after we finish shooting and before the press tour starts. I was supposed to go to Mexico but now I don’t know what I’ll do,” Iris frowned.

“Maybe we should plan something,” Nat suggested.

Iris looked up, the beginnings of a bright smile appeared on her face. “Maybe we should. I’d love that. Even if we just hang out and do nothing I’ll be thrilled,” Iris said.

“Let’s do it,” Nat said. She didn’t need convincing. She wanted to be with Iris and keep feeling this way every day. It was much better than whatever she felt before. It also made a lot more sense, enough to make her cry over but she’d been pushing that off.

“We could go somewhere and just be alone or I could show you Nashville, or both. We could go to my loft and just be lazy, going to the beach and cooking together. All that really cute stuff I like to pretend grosses me out,” Iris rambled.

“Why do you pretend that,” Nat asked, wanting to know her more. A fierce need to protect her was beginning to creep in. She sniffed her girlfriend’s skin and held her needily.

“Because then people won’t know how to hurt me. If they don’t know what I want, they can’t, you know… it’s kind of sad, I guess,” Iris concluded.

“I get it,” Nat said. “I just hate it,” she breathed and kissed her hai
r in several places.

“It does make things more lonely but I know you won’t judge me so it doesn’t matter. I really do trust you,” Iris said.

She seemed amazed that the words had come out of her but happy.

“Glad I can inspire that,” Nat laughed.

“You inspire a lot of things.”

“Oh yeah, like what?” Nat baited. This pretty girl had her blushing like an idiot.

“Lust and songs and happiness, mostly the first one and the last one but also awe,” Iris said.

“Uh-oh, don’t even tell me about the songs, I’ll chain myself naked to your bed.”

Nat was being completely serious about that one. Music could be such a weakness for her.

“I worked on something yesterday while you were shooting. It came together so quickly that I recorded it on Jenny’s laptop and sent it to Jared. He’s probably already heard it and is messing around with it,” Iris said.

She played with Nat’s fingers and smiled at her.

“I’d be glad to play it for you. Especially, if it ends in you naked in my bed,” Iris teased.

“Music is such a weakness for me,” Nat confessed. She’d purposely been putting off looking up Iris’s music. Songs were like poems, the more you heard them the more they affected you.

“Well, it seems your fate has been sealed. You might as well marry me now,” Iris teased.

Iris wasn’t serious but a part of her knew she’d probably be that crazy. If the beginning was like this, could the rest be the same? She lay her head against Nat’s and pet her hair for a moment before looking out over the people passing by.

Some looked at them, recognizing, and others paid them no mind.

“Careful what you wish for,” Natalie openly stared.

“I am,” Iris looked back, a bit of a challenge in the turn of her lips and the height of her right eyebrow.

Nat licked her lips and bit her bottom one, trying not to think about how pretty Iris would be in a wedding dress out on a cliffside.

Their spell was broken when Jenny came running from the direction of the set and skidded to a stop in front of them. She bent over, catching her breath.
