“Uh- oh,” Nat said, realizing. “God wow. I suck. I haven't even listened yet. I've been staying away.”
“Too scared to jump in,” Olivia smiled.
“Little bit, yeah,” Nat agreed.
Olivia put the phone into a cradle and started to play another arrangement on her piano. Natalie watched and listened. Hanging out with Olivia was like having free therapy.
“That's her too,” Olivia said. She panted and stared joyously right into the phone. “She's amazing. Did she really write all that?”
“Ya know, I'd have to ask,” Nat said, unaware. “I know she has a band mate.”
“You guys must be all holed up if you haven't even heard her.”
“Yeah,” Nat laughed. “Things have been pretty nice.”
“Well,” Olivia smiled breathlessly. “That's always good too.”
“It is,” Nat glowed.
“Want me to play something?”
“Please,” Nat asked, enjoying the familiarity. Olivia always played for her. Ever since she found out how much Natalie loved it, she played. Sometimes Olivia would randomly call her or live-stream because she knew she was going to be playing anyway.
The music was like a wonderful healing spell.
Nat was feeling sleepy now. It had been a very long day. Just as she was about to nod off to the sounds of Olivia playing the piano she felt a touch at her leg and looked up to see Iris standing above her.
She smiled up at her and shifted a little, inviting her to lie down with her on the couch. Nat wrapped her up in her arms and cradled her, feeling so whole and complete.
Iris closed her eyes and listened, enjoying it.
“She's very good,” Iris whispered.
Nat kissed Iris's head and held her tight. “Mhmm,” she hummed.
After a couple more minutes, the music stopped. Olivia pulled the phone back in front of her. Noticing Iris, she smiled. “Hey,” she laughed. “Guess I was playing for a long time.” Olivia bit her bottom lip and observed them. “You look comfy. I love it.”
“Hey, Olivia,” Iris said, smiling back. “You’re really good. I was just enjoying the bliss.”
“Thank you, that’s sweet,” Olivia glowed. “I’m glad you’re here actually. I already played this for Natalie but I wanted to show you.” She walked back to her cello and began to play the first piece.
“Shit! That’s my song,” Iris whispered.
She shifted so she could look up at Nat.
“Okay, I like her,” Iris confided.
Nat chuckled and held her. “You’ll love her soon. I promise,” she said.
“Shhh,” Iris shushed, listening.
Nat chuckled and laid still, curious about what Iris thought.
Olivia played just as she had before. If there were any differences Nat wouldn’t be able to say. Plus, Olivia was beautiful, and just her facial expression, her closed eyes, kept Nat enthralled far away.
When Olivia stopped she got up and set her bow and instrument off to the side. “Okay,” she smiled, really close to the camera. She blew a strand of hair away from her face. “Tired now,” she laughed.
Iris started clapping and cheering softly until Olivia came close and she stopped.
“That was excellent. You made that song sound better.”
“Nah, not better, just different,” Olivia breathed. “It’s a beautiful song.”
“Thanks,” Iris blushed and ducked her head. She tried not to show that the praise affected her.
“That was really great baby. I almost fell asleep, it was so soothing.”
“I know,” Olivia laughed.
“Hey, do you want to hear something new I’ve been working on?” Iris asked.
“Um, well, yeah,” Olivia teased.
“Yeah, of course,” Nat laughed, amused.
“It’s not done of course. I still need lyrics but that’s the hardest part. The music always comes first and easiest,” Iris said, sitting up.
She went to her guitar case, that she had propped against the wall and opened it, taking out her old black Martin guitar. She walked back to the couch and sat down, pulling the instrument into her lap and looking up at Nat.
“It’s really rough,” she reminded.
Iris started to play a slow, sad tune full of minor chords. She closed her eyes as she played it.
Nat listened and watched. When she checked on Olivia, she noticed that she had her eyes closed and she was feeling it. Beside herself, Nat smiled. What the hell was she going to do with these two?!
When Iris finished playing she kept her eyes closed and sighed. A few moments later she came back to them and opened her eyes, playing with a few chords and adjusting the song in her mind.
“Um, yeah, so… I’m going to write the lyrics next,” Iris said.
“Play it again,” Olivia asked, taking her phone over to her piano and setting it down.
“That was beautiful baby,” Nat leaned forward and held at her hand.
Iris started to play again and this time she began putting words to the music, stumbling a little at times but finding the right ones for the most part. She laughed a few times. This was her respite. She didn’t create music. It used her as a conduit.
Olivia had joined in at the beginning, adding piano to the song and harmonies to her vocals. Iris grew quiet, listening to the sound and enjoying the mix. When they finished Iris looked at the phone and grinned.
“So, you want to write a song together?” Iris asked.
“Oh god,” Olivia laughed. “No, I was just playing around. It’s beautiful.” Though Olivia loved to play, she usually shied away from these kinds of things. And then there was the fear that Nat might not want her to get super close.
“You guys really should do something,” Nat said. “That was insane.” Between the familiar flowy nature of Olivia’s style and the new raw ache in Iris, Natalia was spent. She reached for the whiskey they’d left on the table and poured a little into her glass to sip on. “Seriously though, what the fuck. How’d you two get so talented?”
“You should sing,” Olivia said, staring back at Nat with adoration spilling out of her. “Have you heard her sing?” Olivia wondered. Her gaze had moved and it was now on Iris.
“No, she didn’t tell me she could sing,” Iris said.
“Oh well, now you have to,” Olivia smiled, lovingly. “Her voice is beautiful,” Olivia said.
Nat was sleepy and a little embarrassed. “I’m not a singer,” she huffed out a laugh.
“Come on,” Olivia asked. “Sing something with me.”
Nat sighed. Her throat felt tight but she cleared it. Olivia started up a few familiar notes on the piano and they both opened their mouths at the same time and began to harmonize. For Nat, it was a little embarrassing. She never really felt like she was all that good but she really was. There was a permanent blush in her cheek.
Iris watched her, not taking her eyes off of her face. Eventually, Iris closed her eyes and felt Nat’s voice as well as heard it. The sound nestled into her heart and she had to take a breath so she wouldn’t let tears come. She hated that it ended but there was an end to every song.
Iris opened her eyes and moved the guitar on her lap so she could get closer to Nat. She leaned in and kissed her cheek, stopping before pulling back.
“If I wasn’t falling for you before, I am now,” Iris whispered.
Nat breathed anxiously and smiled. It was a relief.
“Insane,” Olivia said. “Your voice is so sexy. I don’t know why you don’t sing all the time. It kills me inside.” She pounded her fingers down onto the piano keys before getting up.
Nat laughed at herself, still a little embarrassed.
“I’ll work on her too,” Iris said, turning to the phone. “Hopefully, I can persuade you to sing with me,” Iris said, looking back at Nat.
“I’ll sing with you if you want me to,” Nat said, she lived to please.
“Yes, please, work on her,” Olivia teased. “I sh
ould probably let you two go. You look all dreamy.”
“I am about to pass out,” Nat realized.
“Well… Thanks for calling me. I know you’re busy so.. It means a lot.”
Nat’s heart broke a little for Olivia. “You mean a lot,” she reminded.
Olivia shrugged and smiled. “Go on,” she laughed. “I have a book to finish.”
“Okay,” Nat chuckled. “Goodnight baby.”
“Goodnight.”
“Bye,” Iris said to Olivia.
“Bye,” Olivia smiled before reaching her hand toward the screen and hanging the call up.
Iris got up and put her guitar back in it’s case. Nat watched her, smiling softly to herself as she sipped on her whiskey and enjoyed her view. The urge to lay still and never move was a pleasant one. “Want me to heat up some more food baby? You’re probably starving.”
“No, I want you to come to bed and let me sing you to sleep,” Iris mentioned.
“And what if I don't want to sleep,” Nat suggested.
“Then, I’ll keep you occupied,” Iris promised.
“Come ‘ere,” Natalie asked, not moving.
Iris went to the couch and stood in front of Nat. “Down there?” Iris asked.
Nat reached for her wrist and gently led her to sit ontop of her. She stared up at her, completely stilled by her beauty.
Iris interrupted Nat’s view by leaning down and kissing her, forcing Nat’s back into the couch.
To Nat it was heaven. All she wanted to do was make love to her. Iris’s breasts pushed down onto hers. Only a thin layer of fabric kept them apart. “I want you,” Nat whispered, all breathless and dazed.
Iris moved down Nat’s body and pushed her hoodie up, kissing her stomach and sucking at her hip bone. She pulled the waistband of Nat’s leggings down enough to kiss close to where she wanted to be. Soft skin presented itself.
“Baby,” Nat breathed, wiggeling a little to better feel her lover’s lips on her skin. She sunk her fingers into Iris’s hair and tightened her grip, gently moaning.
Iris was tired of the clothes. She pushed herself up and reached for the hem of Nat’s hoodie. When Iris pulled on the fabric, Nat sat up and let Iris take it off. She tossed the hoodie to the end of the couch and then pulled Nat’s leggings down and off her legs. Her underwear were soon gone too and then she got rid of her own skirt and shirt.
Iris went back to Nat’s lips and kissed her, pressing their bodies together and pushing Nat’s legs apart so she could stay between them and exist there.
Nat was responsive, maybe more than she’d been on previous nights. The sleepiness and the loose mood had done wonders. As Iris kissed her, Nat whimpered.
Iris kissed Nat's thighs on the tops and went down, stopping at her knee and coming back up to her hip. She did the same on Nat's other leg and then gave the same attention to her breasts and her stomach, nipping at her sides and leaving a few love marks there.
“Baby,” Nat ached, wanting to feel Iris’s skin and her hair. She sunk her fingers into her hair again and kept playing, scratching at Iris's back with her nails.
“Mmm, your voice is killing me,” Iris said.
Iris got down onto her knees, pulling Nat to the edge of the couch and kissing her inner thighs doing to Nat what Nat had done to her. She kissed and bit her thighs, then soothed over the pain with her tongue, making it a fond memory instead of a scar.
“Jesus,” Nat sighed, more overcome. Perhaps the sex scene from earlier really jump-started her system. Or perhaps it was Olivia and the flirting and then Iris with her voice. Either way, Nat was alive with her cravings now, wanting to have more sex and be touched. Her eyes and lips weren’t enough, she wanted Iris to use her.
Soft licks barely penetrated. Iris breathed and kissed Nat’s folds. Intentionally, she hovered over Nat’s opening with two fingers.
“What are you thinking right now?” Iris asked.
“You’re sex,” Nat said, staring down at her with clear lust in her eyes.
Iris watched her face and entered her, two fingers pushed in, and Iris watched, enjoying the transformation in Nat’s features at the shock. She returned to kissing her folds and then diving in with her tongue while she decidedly fucked her. She took her time getting Nat close to exploding, trying different things with her fingers and giving her nipples attention with her free hand.
Sex wasnt something Iris thought about a lot but she knew she wasn’t bad at it, despite everything dumb that Ellie might’ve attempted to say.
Nat was undone. It was such a quick thing. She moaned in an achy, shaky, way. Iris went full force and pushed Nat over the edge, loving the feeling of her and the sounds that she made.
It was the most moaning Iris had heard from her since they first met and began to make love. Iris moved off her knees, which were starting to hurt. She hadn’t even noticed till now. Nat was laying still now and Iris crawled up on the couch and lay her head on Nat’s stomach, waiting for her to speak.
“Fuck,” Nat breathed, unable to catch up. “I missed you honey.”
“You’re delicious,” Iris said.
“You're one to talk,” Nat smiled. Her hands reached for a pillow and she pulled one over her face to muffle her groan.
“Uh huh, well you need to move that pillow so I can kiss you,” Iris said.
Nat groaned into the pillow again, still recovering.
Iris kissed her skin and lay there watching her. Nat's hair looked a bit mussed from her movements on the couch. Iris smoothed it back and fixed what she could.
Nat pulled the pillow off of her face and tugged Iris up toward her to kiss her right. As Iris moved, sliding her body up into Nat's front, Nat wrapped her legs around her waist and brought her in even closer, refusing to allow her much freedom to move.
“You trapped me, how cute,” Iris said.
“You drove me crazy all day today. Do you know that?”
“How did I manage that?” Iris asked.
“Just so beautiful,” Nat said, playing with Iris's hair. “Kept wishing I was alone with you.”
“I imagined it being me instead of Michael. It would have been a far better scene,” Iris replied.
“I would've loved to make that,” Nat said.
“Even if shooting a sex scene is far less fun than just having sex, we would have made it fun,” Iris commented.
“I probably would've stared at you for several minutes until the director got mad,” Nat huffed a laugh.
“Now that I think about it, we would probably forget everyone was there and it would be a disaster but a good show,” Iris laughed.
“But yeah,” Nat stared. “I kept thinking about you.” Having Iris to think about had been a new treat for Natalie.
“I'm glad I'm on your mind,” Iris admitted.
“So what do you think? Should I put you to bed?”
“Only if you plan on getting me tired enough to sleep,” Iris replied.
“Mmm,” Nat growled. “I do,” she explained.
“Then, let's go,” Iris said.
“Okay bossy,” Nat teased.
“Only in bed,” Iris pointed out.
“Well, I have no way of knowing that,” Nat joked.
They got up and started to walk to the bedroom. Nat teased Iris by decidedly squeezing her ass.
“We aren't always in bed,” Iris said, smirking.
“Mmm,” Nat murmured. When they got through the bedroom door Nat tugged on Iris's wrists and led her body just left to push Iris’s front up against the wall and trap her there far away from the bed. “I can't take my eyes off of you,” she said, like a predator.
While she trapped her, Nat pushed her breasts into Iris's back and tugged at her hip bones to tease her and frisk her a little. The result of her bullying meant Iris was sticking her ass out while Nat pressed her sex into it and teased. Full body groping. No way to dodge what it was, plain and simple.
“Hi, there,” Iris teased.
“You're a
little breathless,” Nat flirted.
There would be time now to play with her. Nat had been tired before but now she had energy to spare. “Is it okay if I take my time?” Nat shoved her hand down the front of Iris’s pants and dove her fingers in quickly to touch at the wet sex there.
“Uh, please,” Iris panted, a bit taken by the swiftness. All of a sudden Natalie’s body and her hands were everywhere.
“Okay,” Nat huffed, “Because I really wanna do that.”
They probably wouldn't even touch the bed for a good long while. Iris smirked.
Chapter 17
The Exes
Monday was the start of their last week filming. Today, was Friday and they’d just shot two scenes and had an excellent day. Iris was on top of the world. Her only wish was that they could have the weekend alone because she was greedy like that. Instead, they were on their way to the airport to pick up Olivia.
Somewhere along the line, Nat had decided that Olivia should come back out. Her wife, Avery, was away at a swim tournament all week. Once filming wrapped, they could fly down to San Francisco with Olivia and spend some time at her place before going on a trip of their own while they could.
Nat was on cloud nine, so excited to pick Olivia up. Both of her girls would be able to be together. Before leaving the apartment, Nat even cleaned up.
Iris couldn't help but notice, Nat spent a lot longer on her makeup and outfit than she usually would. Landing her cursor on a pair of skin tight black jeans and a shirt that looked almost painted on and thin. It completely showed off her cleavage. Nat pulled out all the stops.
When they got to the airport, Olivia was waiting near the road. Even while they approached, Iris could spot Olivia from a mile away. The girl looked rich and she also looked effortlessly beautiful. Blue jeans and a rust colored long-sleeve top with small buttons. She had this indescribable energy, like the world was hers and she could take it all but instead she just thought about it.
Nat drove Olivia's rental car up to the curb and pulled hard on the emergency break, leaping out of the driver's seat and running around to swoop Olivia up off the ground and into an all encompassing linebacker hug.
