Dapper Carter’s eighth rule supersedes the seventh.
Rule number eight: Whatever it is you want in life, that's what you've got to give.
If you want affection, you have to give affection. If you want attention, you have to give attention. If you want love, you've got to give love. You don't always get it back from the people you give it to, but it will eventually come back. And when it does, don't fuck it up!
