Thank You
Author’s Acknowledgements
I would like to thank Ginny. From my first book, you’ve been here. You have been my staunchest supporter, cheerleader, adopted aunt, and worst nightmare all wrapped up into one. Without you I truly believe these books would have never gotten finished. I had no idea when I first spoke to you how much you would rock my world. You’ve pushed me past my boundaries, then pushed a little more, and sometimes even further than that. I needed it. I will always need it. There will never be enough words to tell you how much you mean to me, nor enough flowers.
Brea Cagle Trundle, you’ve been with me from the first. It’s like you know when I’m down, because you send me little notes of encouraging words or videos of your insane dog posse. You’ve given me your opinions on book covers, helped me out with fonts and told me your ideas for ways to expand the Angel’s Rebellion MC name. You’ve become a good friend, one I’m thankful to have in my life.
To my original beta team: Virginia H., Brea T., Heather H., Angie R., Tracy S., Patricia C., Jayne R., Joanna Z., Sharon R., Diane S., Michelle M. and Amanda D. I want each of you to know how much I truly appreciate everything that you’ve contributed to my dream. Thank you for the endless reads, suggestions, catching mistakes and the encouraging words that y’all have given me.
Adam Hensley, I will never have enough words to tell you how much I appreciate all the help you’ve given to me. I gave you my ideas for book covers, then you worked magic. Then I’d change my mind a little, so you worked more, until we both finally agreed we loved the end product. Thanks for doing all the investigative work that is needed to figure out all the things that need to be done in order to publish, then for doing the majority of that work while I wrote, edited, rewrote and edited more. I’ve put a big load on your shoulders and all I can say is thank goodness your shoulders are wide enough to handle it all. Pretty sure I couldn’t handle all this alone, thanks for having my back.
Last but never least, I want to thank my own biker, who traded in his bike for a bass boat. Babe, thanks for encouraging me and allowing me to spend the majority of my time writing. You always told me I could do this, but I think I clipped my own wings, until one day you told me I needed to fly. You helped me unfurl those wings and have allowed me to soar. You’re my forever and always. My ride or die. I love you, J.
Dedication
This book is dedicated to my friend Brea Cagle Trundle and every person who has been forced to grieve the unexpected death of a husband, a wife, a child.
When I wrote Mad Dog, I did not recognize its impact on readers who have first-hand experience with loss as told in his story. It is an experience that Brea has suffered and survived. Brea shared with me that this story brought back many of the emotions she struggled through and how she identified with the Prologue. She shared the shock of learning from a law officer that a loved one is gone. She gave me her support to tell this story.
Madame de Stael said, “We understand death for the first time when he puts his hand upon one whom we love.” I believe this is true.
The loss of a loved one is a fear the majority of humankind face daily. Life has taught me that nothing in it is certain. If we live in fear, we will never really live.
So, for those of you who have known such loss, you are the bravest among us. I offer you my deepest condolences and a huge hug. And Brea, my friend, I love you.
There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are the messengers of overwhelming grief, of deep contrition, and of unspeakable love.

Author’s Note
Mad Dog is the story of one man’s lifelong devotion to his MC Brotherhood. As a legacy member of ARMC, he was destined to become its President. His every waking moment was committed to his Brothers until one day, his future walked through the door. This is the second book in the Angel’s Rebellion MC series.
Mad Dog's Note
My name is Thomas Brown, but I go by my MC name of Mad Dog. Most just call me Dog or Prez. Oh, I didn’t mention that? I'm the President of Angel's Rebellion MC. We're not the typical 1%'er club, we don't run any illegal contraband and all of our businesses are legal. Our club is strong, solid, with good men that I am proud to call Brothers.
One thing troubled me, the club felt like it was stagnant. We needed new blood and we were able to get that through a patch-over with seven Brothers from Spawns of Satan MC. When that happened, the club felt like it became more vital almost overnight. Everything with the club was going good. Great actually. I should have been pleased, yet something seemed to be missing in my own life.
I'd lost my wife, Beth, twenty years earlier and had been left to raise my son Beau alone. I had it good. So, I didn't know why I felt so unsettled, discontent, until I observed Viper, one of the newly patched-over members with his Old Ladies. It hit me like a ton of bricks, I wanted what he had. I wanted a woman to call my own. I missed the connection that being in a loving, caring relationship with one woman can bring.
I'd been single all these years and no woman had even remotely tempted me to change that. Then one night a woman from the MC's past walked into my life. She wanted vengeance for the deaths of her husband and son. ARMC agreed, bringing Ava into our world… and into my life.
Prologue
If the people we love are stolen from us, the way to have them live on is to never stop loving them.
~The Crow, written by James O'Barr, David J. Schow, and John Shirley~
Mad Dog
March 9th, 1998
“Hey pretty lady,” I said as I gazed down at the headstone. “Another year has gone by. It's hard to believe it's been twenty years now. I still miss you like crazy. Fuck, who am I kidding, Beth. I still have this fucking hole in my heart that just won't seem to go away. You're not here to fill it, Beth, so, it's like this void that is empty of life.”
I sighed deeply as I reached up and tugged my toboggan down. The pain of losing my wife had finally faded after all these years, but the ache of not having her in my life still lingered. She had been my best friend until the day she died. We had been childhood sweethearts. I had known her all my life. She was the daughter of my dad's best friend, David.
My dad James, along with David and six of their buddies, some of those buddies’ blood family, founded the motorcycle club known as Angel’s Rebellion MC in 1954 in Arkansas. Both our dads were officers in ARMC until they stepped down; my dad was originally the Prez, and Beth’s was originally the Sgt at Arms.
Both men are called by the handles they were given in the military. My dad was Sergeant, or Sarge for short, and David has always gone by Gunny. Our dads grew up together, joined the Marines together, and even married best friends within months of each other. Our moms had given birth to Beth and me just two months apart, me being the oldest. Currently our dads are semi-retired from the club and are traveling the States with our moms.
The club at first was to be a place they could all get together to keep alive the brotherhood they had formed in the military. But soon they decided they wanted more for the club; they wanted to live close to each other. The Brothers decided they wanted a place to live, a safe haven, where they could build homes and raise their families without having to conform to society's standards. So, after the MC had been established for a couple years, the members researched where they could obtain the most land to build the compound they all dreamed about.
Once they found an area that had enough land where they could build a compound for all of them to live on, the Brothers set about buying all the conjoining land parcels they could get in the Elk community. It was understood among the Brothers that the land would be for the sole use of the club, and when the club needed one of the parcels, they would purchase it from the Brother who owned it.
From the time we were babies, Beth and I were always together. We took naps together, played together, ate together, hell, our moms even gave us baths together when we were toddlers. So, for me, Beth was just always there in my life. It wasn't until kindergarten that I realized she was my girl, maybe I had subconsciously known it before and just not thought about it. Damn, I was a child, not much more than a toddler really, when our first day of school changed how I looked at her forever. From that moment on, I never wavered on my feelings throughout the years.
“Do you remember when I finally realized you were mine, Beth? God it was so long ago, we were five, Beth. Five fucking years old. How any child that young knows what they want, I haven't a clue. Somehow you knew your entire life, I think. Yet, I was a little slower on the uptake, it took
me a few years to catch up. I remember it like it was yesterday.”
“Tommy, wait on me outside the door. I need to go to the restroom before I go out to recess.”
“I'll be waiting for you, Bethie.”
I stood outside the door waiting on Bethie to come out so we could go play. I was watching some boys playing kickball and the ball came my way, so I ran to get it and throw it back to them. Then I heard Bethie's voice telling someone to leave her alone. I turned around and saw some boy trying to drag Bethie toward the swings. Her voice sounded scared and I knew I had to protect her. I ran back to her and pulled the boy's hand off her arm.
“Leave her alone and don't ever touch her again,” I told the boy. He was a little older than me, maybe in second grade. He was also a little bigger than me, but I couldn't let myself be scared. I had to protect Bethie no matter what the cost.
“Go away little boy,” the mean boy said.
“She's my girl. You leave her alone or else,” I muttered.
“She's your girl, huh? I don't think so. She's gonna be my girl. Nothing you can do to change that, little boy.”
I got so mad at what he said. He was trying to take Bethie from me, and she was my girl. Mine.
“No, she's my girl, mine,” I said as I threw a punch to his face. His nose started bleeding and he started shrieking and crying. I pushed him hard and he fell to the ground. I stood over him and spit out at him, “You ever touch her again and I'll hurt you worse. Leave my Bethie alone.”
I grabbed Bethie's hand in mine and we walked toward the slide.
“You okay, Bethie?”
“I am now. I was so scared, Tommy. He was hurting my arm. See, I have a red place on it.”
I rubbed my hand across the spot and thought about going back over and kicking that boy. He had hurt my girl.
“I'll never let anyone hurt you again, Bethie. You're my girl from now on.”
