Sensing that Bryce needed a break he reached over and poked him. “Come on. It looks like the chicken is done.” Bryce was going to lose that button if they kept up the conversation any longer and none of them had the skills to sew it back on.
“Fuck, I’m starved. Let’s go.”
Dragging their chairs back to the patio, they walked over to the grill. The smells were amazing, and it looked even better. Looking around at everyone laughing and relaxed, Brent realized what a good idea dinner had been. Wyatt wasn’t going to get comfortable with them just seeing everyone at the barbecues on the weekend.
Walking inside, the only awkwardness that cropped up was when they all walked over to the table. Wyatt had prepared a wonderful dinner of grilled chicken with all kinds of vegetables, and everyone was ready to fall on it like wolves. But Brent knew from his discussions with Garrett that Wyatt normally knelt for dinner.
It was clear that the other sub was hesitant to do it while they were there. The idea of family knowing would probably be odd to most people in the lifestyle, but it was what they were used to. He wanted Wyatt to feel comfortable enough to do what was right for him.
Brent debated for a moment whether he should kneel at the table as well, to make Wyatt feel less alone, but Brent knew that wasn’t where he was emotionally. It wasn’t the act of kneeling or even submitting in front of everyone. His head wasn’t in it.
Luckily, Garrett stepped in.
Garrett was casual about it, leaning in to give Wyatt a kiss on the cheek and whisper in his ear. Brent could easily guess that he was telling his sub that the decision would be up to him. Brent thought it would have been easier for Wyatt if Garrett took the decision out of his hands. It might have just been where Brent’s head was, though, not what was best for Wyatt. Brent couldn't tell anymore.
To Brent, if a submissive wanted a lifestyle relationship, it was a decision he shouldn’t have to make. He probably didn’t even want to be the one to decide. But Garrett would always want to make sure he wasn’t rushing things, that he wasn’t pushing Wyatt to be more open than he was comfortable with. Brent tried to remind himself that it wasn’t his business and that Garrett knew his submissive best.
When he’d been going over the contract with Calen, their rules on kneeling had been a little more planned out, but not by much. They’d both agreed that kneeling in places like the club would be one of their rules. If they weren’t in a long-term scene, it would be up to Brent as to his preference at the moment. So when they were at the barbecue it would be up to him, but when they were in more of a lifestyle mode like they were going to be for the next couple of days, kneeling would be required.
Brent thought that having clear-cut rules made it simpler for everyone. Maybe he’d see if Wyatt wanted to go out to lunch sometime with him and Bryce. It would give them all a chance to get to know each other better and for Wyatt to be able to talk things over with someone who knew Garrett. Deciding to text Wyatt tomorrow, Brent put it to the back of his mind. Wyatt had enough on his plate right now without Brent adding anything to it.
Whatever Wyatt decided to do, they would all be fine with, anyway. They were used to things being a bit different so it wouldn’t be a problem. Wyatt evidently came to the same conclusion fairly quickly because after Garrett finished whispering to him, he’d walked over and grabbed his cushion before coming back over to the table.
Wyatt seemed much calmer kneeling and waiting for Garrett to feed him. And Brent was glad to see him feeling more confident. Knowing what he needed and being able to do it in front of people who were just about strangers had to be difficult. Brent hoped that over time, Wyatt would become more at ease around them and that it would become second nature.
He wanted Garrett and Wyatt—well, he wanted them as happy and comfortable together as he was with Calen. Glancing over at his Dom, Brent couldn’t help but think how lucky he was and how much he was looking forward to their lifestyle time together.
Part of him wished that Calen had insisted they start before dinner. Kneeling beside Calen, waiting to be fed, wearing only jeans and his cuffs sounded perfect. He should have said something earlier, but he hadn’t even realized that he wanted it until he’d seen Wyatt’s internal debate.
Reaching out to give Calen’s leg a squeeze, Brent knew he was ready for whatever would happen. He was going to give himself to his Dom and let him take care of everything. It would be the perfect evening. As long as they could get dinner going a bit quicker.
CHAPTER 11
Calen
Dinner was going so well, Calen thought that he and Brent would be able to escape without having to explain the details of their new relationship. He wasn’t trying to avoid it, but he liked the idea of having more time with Brent before they had to discuss it. But as Garrett and Wyatt came back in from the kitchen carrying dessert, that quickly changed.
“So how long have you two been seeing each other? I don’t remember anyone mentioning it.” Wyatt’s curious expression seemed open and innocent. He obviously had no idea what he was stepping in.
“They’re not seeing each other.” Garrett paused and really looked at the two of them. “I mean, I didn’t think they were. Are you?”
Brent coughed, trying to unsuccessfully cover a laugh, and Bryce wasn’t having a much better time controlling his delight. But Calen shrugged and nodded, trying to keep it from getting out of hand. “Yes, we are. It’s new.”
Garrett looked back and forth between the two of them for a moment. “How new?”
“Very,” Grant broke in, not willing to be left out of the conversation.
Calen looked at Garrett calmly, ignoring everyone else. “Since Monday, officially.”
Sitting up in his chair, Garrett had one of those lightbulb moments because his eyes got wide. “That’s the reason you’ve both been so nuts lately.”
Brent nodded. “We were trying to figure things out and there was a bit of a misunderstanding. It’s good now. I think we’ll both be in a better place when we go back to work.”
Wyatt watched everything play out as he sliced a chocolate cake. He looked upset that he’d started the conversation. “I’m sorry. I didn’t realize that it was that new.”
“No. It’s fine. You had no way of knowing. And it wasn’t like we were trying to hide anything. We’re still getting our bearings and figuring things out.” Brent tried to soothe Wyatt’s worries because it was obvious he was afraid he’d made things awkward.
Kneeling back beside Garrett after the cake was passed out, Wyatt seemed to be mollified a bit, but it was clear he was still concerned. Calen noticed that he wasn’t worried about the kneeling any longer, so maybe giving him something else to think about wasn’t all bad.
“So what kind of lifestyle have you guys discussed, or is that something you’re still figuring out?” In any other family, Garrett’s question would probably have been weird, but Calen loved the fact that for their family it was a perfectly normal question.
He shared an amused look with Wyatt, glad he wasn’t the only one to think it was at least a little humorous. Brent simply swallowed his bite of cake and answered as if Garrett had asked him about work. Calen found it all too funny, but he was careful not to let it show.
For the most part.
“Less lifestyle than you guys but not terribly vanilla either. We spent the afternoon going over limits and putting together a contract.”
“Wow, a full contract already?” Garrett seemed surprised, but not in a bad way. His gaze went back and forth between them, like he was finally realizing how serious they were.
“Calen didn’t want to give me the chance to realize how crazy he is and make a break for it.” Brent’s words were teasing and laughter filled his eyes, but to Calen, it wasn’t that far off base.
“We’re both kind of in the middle when it comes to where we fall lifestyle-wise, so getting everything spelled out and discussed made the most sense.” Calen shrugged and tried not to worry about what Garret
t would think.
He shouldn’t have worried about his friend because Garrett smiled and leaned back in his chair. “That’s wonderful. I’m glad you’re both happy.”
Reaching out, Garrett absently ran his fingers through Wyatt’s hair, and it was clear to Calen that his friend was thinking about his own relationship. He might have had every intention of taking things slowly, but it was easy to see a more permanent relationship coming quickly for them. Calen couldn’t blame him.
When you found someone who was perfect for you, why would you wait?
Glancing at Brent, Calen stretched out a hand and let it rest on his leg. Giving Brent a gentle squeeze, he tried to let him know how happy he was. The last couple of weeks had been incredibly stressful, bordering on painful, and Calen was glad they’d put it behind them.
Now if they could just get dinner behind them, so they could head back to his house, that would be wonderful.
Brent must have been thinking the same thing because as he finished up his cake he looked over to Wyatt. “Thank you very much for dinner; it was wonderful.”
“I’m glad you liked it. I love cooking.”
Brent smiled. “Thank goodness, because Garrett’s terrible. Now maybe we can put him in the rotation for something else at the barbecues. I might not be any better than he is, but at least I can put together a halfway decent salad.”
Garrett snorted. “It wasn’t that bad. Was that the reason I got banished to desserts permanently?”
“You didn’t even realize the lettuce had gone funny and the dressing you brought was six months out of date. You almost gave us all food poisoning!” Brent was shaking his head and looking at Garrett like he didn’t know what to do with him.
“If it weren't for Grant’s obsession with the salad dressing, we wouldn’t have even noticed.” Bryce’s words came out teasing but Grant frowned at him.
“It’s not an obsession! You always bring the wrong kind.”
“We’re not doing this again.” Brent’s voice came out firm and decisive. Both brothers relaxed back in their seats, but it was easy to see they were still too worked up for it to actually be about the salad. They were both more stressed than normal, especially Bryce.
Wyatt was coughing, trying to cover up his laughter, but Garrett wasn’t buying it because he frowned at the sub. “I’m shocked. You’re taking their side.”
“Of course not, Master. He’s obviously teasing you.” But the innocent act was ruined when he looked over and gave Brent a wink. That was one little sub who was deliberately egging his master on. Itching for a spanking, was he?
Garrett growled out something about punishments, making Wyatt blush and stare down at the floor, but his grin made it clear how pleased he was. Garrett looked like he was going to enjoy the evening too. Calen took that as their hint to leave.
“You two have fun. We’re out of here.” It might have been a bit abrupt, but everyone else seemed to have the same idea that he did because they were all grinning at Garrett and Wyatt. Those two weren’t subtle at all. Not that anyone else in the family was any better.
“Oh, we will. You guys have fun on vacation. Barbecue is still going on this weekend, right?” Garrett glanced up and looked around at everyone.
Calen looked to Brent who nodded and replied, “Yeah, we’ll let you know what to bring.”
Deciding he wasn’t going to be subtle either, he looked over to Grant and Bryce. “You two get cleanup for fighting at the table.”
Grant snorted, “You’re going home to—Shit, Bryce!”
Bryce evidently decided Grant didn’t need to finish his sentence because he elbowed him in the stomach. “You have no manners. Or common sense. You have to wait awhile for that shit or he’ll tell Mom you were trying to embarrass them.”
“You two are a mess. Get your shit figured out or I’ll be the one calling Mom about you.” Garrett looked confused about their behavior, but he seemed to have reached the end of his patience.
Tired of the siblings bickering, Calen took Brent’s hand, leading them to the front of the house. As they reached the car, Calen pulled Brent close. Wrapping his arms around Brent, loving the way he leaned into him, Calen whispered, “You ready to be mine?”
Cocking his head and giving Calen a curious look, Brent took a moment before he spoke. “I think I’ve been yours longer than I realized.”
Leaning in to give Brent a quick kiss, Calen smiled. “Me too. Let’s go home, subbie.”
Stepping closer, Brent cuddled into Calen. “Sounds perfect.”
Thankfully, the drive back to his place was short. Calen didn’t think he had the patience to put off their night any longer. He’d been ready to make Brent his for days. He just hoped that everything would be okay with Brent.
Nothing that he had planned went anywhere near the sub’s limits, but it might not be what he was expecting, so Calen wasn’t sure what he would think. Pushing his insecurities to the back of his mind, Calen stopped as they walked in and shut the front door.
Giving Brent his full attention, Calen saw the stress in his friend’s eyes and the weight of everything finally hitting him. “Who do you belong to?”
“You, Sir.” Brent’s voice was tired but Calen didn’t think it was physical.
“Use your safewords if you need to, but other than that I simply expect to hear ‘Yes, Sir’ and to see you obey. Is that clear?”
Brent nodded and gave him a quiet, “Yes, Sir.”
“Sometimes I’m going to tell you what will happen and sometimes I won’t. You don’t have to think about anything or make decisions. All you have to do is let me take care of you.” It wasn’t a question, but Brent nodded anyway. He looked so…fragile almost, that Calen wrapped his arms around him and pulled him close.
Brent rested his head on Calen’s shoulder and sank into the touch. Standing there in the hall, Calen let his friend and submissive relax. When the tension seemed to fade from Brent’s body and little sighs started escaping as Calen rubbed small, gentle circles on Brent’s back, Calen knew it was time to continue.
Pulling back enough that he could see into Brent’s face, he gave his friend a quick kiss. “We’re going to go to my bedroom now and I’m going to get you ready.”
There was nothing for Brent to say, so Calen took his hand and led the quiet sub back to the room. Next time he would have Brent strip for him but at that moment, he wanted to take care of his sub. Stopping Brent when he reached the center of the room, Calen began stripping off Brent’s clothes. The T-shirt came off quickly, but Calen didn’t rush to remove Brent’s pants. He wanted it to last.
Running his hands up Brent’s muscular chest, Calen felt little shivers racing through him. Calen had always admired Brent’s body even when he didn’t let himself think of the sub as anything but his friend. Now that he could touch Brent and there was nothing in their way, he let his gaze take in the beautiful man in front of him.
Letting his fingers tease around Brent’s nipples and then dip down to trace the muscles of his chest and abs, Calen enjoyed watching Brent’s body come alive again. He’d been a little worried that the sub was too worn out to play, but that wasn’t going to be the case. Brent’s mind might be exhausted but his body was still very much into what they were doing.
Seeing the way Brent’s nipples tightened and his pants started to tent, Calen couldn’t wait any longer to get him naked. Watching Brent strip down at the gym and not be able to touch him had been the hardest thing he’d ever done. He’d inwardly both cursed and thanked Brent for leaving his underwear on as he’d walked to the shower. A naked Brent would have been too much for Calen to handle.
Taking a little step back, Calen spoke. “Bend over and take off your shoes and socks.”
There was no hesitation or question in Brent’s expression, he simply leaned over and did what he was told. Calen took the opportunity to walk around and admire the sub. His ass was perfection. Calen might prefer to bottom but he loved a sexy ass, and he had all kind
s of things he wanted to do to Brent’s.
When Brent had his shoes and socks off, he straightened and waited for instructions. Calen couldn’t decide if it was because his submission was starting to take over or if his brain had checked out completely. Thinking it could very well be either or both, Calen stepped closer and pressed his chest to Brent’s back.
Brent leaned against Calen’s body and sighed. To Calen, it looked like Brent was starved for the touch of a Dom. He wasn’t questioning what Brent felt for him, but Brent had been on his own too long. He took charge so well that sometimes it was hard to remember he was more submissive than people realized.
Letting his hands caress Brent’s chest, Calen brought his hands closer and closer to Brent’s nipples. He’d wanted to explore them when Brent had stripped down the first time to see how sensitive they were, and now he would find out. When the pad of his fingers skimmed over the tight tips of Brent’s nipples the sub inhaled sharply and let out a little moan.
Brent had indicated on his form and in their conversation that he enjoyed nipple play and mild pain. Imagining everything he could do had made Calen wild with need. He loved seeing a sub hover right at the point between pleasure and pain, where their nipples were puffy and sensitive and they were one tug away from orgasming. Brent was going to be beautiful to play with.
Teasing the hard little buds in small circles, Calen heard Brent’s breath catch and felt the sub’s muscles tighten as he tried not to move. Deciding to push Brent a little more, Calen took Brent’s ear between his teeth and bit down gently as he pinched his nipples.
The moan of pleasure that tore through Brent filled the room. His chest heaved and little shivers raced through him. “Master!”
It was music to Calen’s ears.
Giving his tender buds one last tug that had Brent arching his chest and letting his head fall back, Calen reluctantly released the sexy toys. He’d be back to play with those again, but he needed to get his sub naked first. As Brent struggled to get his body under control, Calen reached down and released the button on Brent’s pants.
