"Strom!” Garhan shouted. “You'll be arrested."
"If they can catch me, I'll be executed. The wall alerted us to your plight, so we came well aware of what we'd encounter. I don't intend to be so foolish. Right now, the entire city is napping thanks to my mother and her unique powers. Shall we go before we're discovered? My mother may be the supreme seer, but this is asking a lot, even of her."
The emperor's son gave Alphan a dark stare. “I have sad news to report to you. We came upon your brother's transport in a meteor shower. I'm afraid he's gone."
Gone? The words stabbed Sonja in the heart. She'd caused this as surely as if she'd done it with her own hands. Any hope for a future with Alphan was now hopeless. Even if he said he could forgive her, she knew better.
"You're certain it was Rani?” Alphan asked.
The emperor's son nodded. “The sensite was strong before he died. He spoke to me and his last words were for you. We'll speak of them once we're safely away from here."
Alphan turned away from Strom to look at Sonja, and she knew. The pain in his face took her breath away. She'd destroyed any chance they had.
The emperor's son transported them to Cada, where he lived with his wife and mother. Not only had Sonja not spoken to Alphan on the journey, she didn't see him. By the time they arrived, she was frantic with worry and grief.
They landed inside a beautiful, cavern-like structure unlike anything Sonja had ever seen. The Cadites called it a boga, and Sonja soon learned underneath the surface a maze of homes could be found, one after another, through the cavern-like tunnels.
One of Cadites showed her a portal in the side of a stone wall. “This will be where you stay while you are visiting Cada. If you should decide to remain, other accommodations will be provided. There's a communicator just inside the door. If there is anything you desire, you only need to ask."
She needed Alphan. Could they make that happen? “I'm sure I'll be fine. I'd like to get word to my family of my safety?"
"I'll let the supreme seer know."
Not long after the Cadite left, Alphan appeared. While she looked about the comfortable living space, he arrived without warning, standing close behind her before she noticed. The suddenness startled her.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to sneak up on you. Garhan is your neighbor, and I was trying to avoid him. Am I intruding?"
"I couldn't think of a nicer intrusion ... well, maybe one. You inside me."
"I came to say goodbye. I need search for Rani, just in case. The supreme seer says you're welcome to stay here, or she'll help you find your way home. I think you need your family right now."
It was hard to think past saying goodbye. The moment she'd dreaded had come too soon.
"What do you think?"
Sonja thought she didn't want him to go. But if she didn't have Alphan, she needed her family more than ever before. “I agree. How long do you think you'll be gone?"
"I can't promise—I can't."
She understood what he was saying. He couldn't go back to the way it was before and no longer wanted her as his wife. “You don't owe me an explanation. Take care.” She lifted on her toes, knowing full well she couldn't reach his lips, but she had to try. “Kiss me goodbye."
Alphan lifted her like a child's toy and held her against his hard body. He brought his mouth down on hers with such sweet tenderness for a giant of a man she couldn't stop the tears. This would be the last time their lips ever touched.
She wrapped her arms around his neck and returned his kiss. The salt of her own tears tasted in her mouth. The poignant sadness caused her to sob, a single solitary sound deep in her throat.
She wouldn't beg, even when she wanted to. He deserved better.
He deepened the kiss, touching her lips with his tongue and then the inside of her mouth when she opened to him. Their tongues did a mating dance, and she knew he intended to love her one last time. One last time to hold him. One last time to show him what he meant to her. All the years she'd wasted refusing him now seemed like an eternity.
How foolish she'd been.
How lonely she'd always be without him.
He lowered her while pulling her one-piece shud up and over her head before casting it aside. She stood naked in front of him, and he stared at her while removing his own garments. He didn't say a word. No thoughts leaked from his brain.
Sonja was overwhelmed by the sight of his naked body, his magnificent cock. She leaned down to place a kiss on his cockhead. He sighed and pulled her back into his arms, while he turned to look about the room. There was black fur rug in front of the fire on the hearth and he headed toward it, carrying her. Once there he sat her upon her feet and stretched out on the rug. She stood frozen, wondering what he wanted her to do. He pushed back up and reached for her, bringing her down across his lap.
This time, when he reclined, he drew her legs apart to straddle him. He then held her hips while she rose up on her knees to be able to guide him where she wanted him. With his help, holding her higher, she positioned him at her entrance.
She would never be like this with him again. At least she'd have this to remember. She tried to memorize each moment. The touch of his cockhead to her core sent tremors of satisfaction to every inch of her body. She hungered for him.
Sonja eased onto his bulbous head, taking her time while his girth stretched her. At the same time, it excited her to be the one in control. But it was an illusion. If she truly had control, she'd keep him like this for all eternity.
While lowering herself on his thick root, she watched the pained expression on his face and didn't doubt how much this meant to him ... to both of them. For both of them, the universe had turned upside down and now every single moment each would want another taste of what they'd experienced with one another.
She descended until flush with the tops of his thighs. He filled her so completely she couldn't move. Alphan leaned up again and wrapped his arms around her. When his lips sought hers, the enchantment came in a heated rush.
The air effervesced around them.
Every molecule of her skin, of her inner parts, tingled and blossomed with intense power. The tornado of energy particles lifted them both while pressing them together ... fusing them into one.
She celebrated in the moment.
Sonja would always remember this point in time ... this unique joining. Together they spiraled into an orgasm of unprecedented ultimate bliss, where they stayed suspended on an invisible plateau of pleasure until Sonja lost sense of time and place. What seemed like hours later, a stray thought entered her mind.
A child.

CHAPTER 8
Without Alphan, Sonja wanted to go home. When weeks turned into months, she couldn't find good reason for staying on Cada. Everyone was nice enough, but loneliness overwhelmed her. Now, as she was about to leave, the supreme seer Moira requested Sonja's presence.
Moira lived above the Cadite ruling city in a mountain palace made of crystal rock. Sonja couldn't tell what was mountain and what had been formed by hand. Everywhere inside were the most beautiful and colorful gems imaginable, in their unmolested state and of every size and shape. While Sonja waited, she fingered a lavender-and-silver rock that reminded her of the color of Alphan's eyes.
"I'm glad you came."
Sonja turned to see a woman approaching. Her long, white-blond hair floated behind her along the shining crystal floor. A shimmering white veil matching her gown hid her face.
"Please accept my apology. This covering is my son's idea. He believes while the population of Cada is growing that I should hide my face. He thinks there will come a time when my enemies will rise against me and the sensite."
"Why did you wish to see me?"
"You've made my life very difficult lately. I had hoped you'd come to your senses and remain on Cada without any help from me and the sensite until Alphan returns.” Moira stopped in front of a large crystal and rubbed her hand over it
until it glowed.
"Why do you care?” Why would the supreme seer care what Sonja did or didn't do?
"I care because I want the sensite to grow and flourish in the universe. You must not allow it to go dormant inside you."
"But it's my fault Alphan's brother lost his life. If he hadn't come to Barth to help me, he would never have been placed in harm's way."
"That is one way to look at what happened. Another is that Rani feared losing his heart a second time. The first time cost him many, many years in the Orhoff penal colony. His power is such he could have found a way to escape, but his captors threatened the life of his lover. He submitted to unknown torture for love. In the end, Rani discovered he'd been betrayed. The one he loved was in league with Rani's enemies ... enemies of the sensite. My enemies, too."
"Is this supposed to make me feel better? His life sucked and then he met me and it ended."
Moira smiled. About what, Sonja didn't have a clue.
"Rani isn't dead. He was in danger of losing his heart a second time, so he chose to hide instead of fighting. Hide from his enemies, hide from his brother, his new love, and from life. We shall see ... time is on our side.” She gave a dismissive wave of her hand and went to another crystal.
"When I found I carried a child borne of sensite, I was alone. No one gave me support against one of the most powerful men in the galaxy, Emperor Tima. You'll have the support of all of Cada if you choose to accept it, plus your family and Alphan. He's too much like his brother. He believes if anyone discovers how much he loves you, it'll be used against him. He'll sacrifice his own life, but not yours. He doesn't trust the sensite like he should. Rani doesn't either. We need to get both of them back here where we can train them, teach them."
Sonja reeled with the news Rani hadn't died. This changed everything! “And Alphan?"
"He has just arrived. I wish I could see his face when you reveal your secret."
What secret?
The supreme seer frowned. “The sensite will have problems with you. You're with child. After all this time and you still didn't know?"
It was time to join the sensite scholars, otherwise her child would be embarrassed by her ignorance of the power. And also for her husband's sake, for she intended to have Alphan for life!

It didn't take Sonja long to find Alphan in the room she'd been about to abandon when she returned to her parents.
"I'm getting married,” were the first words out of her mouth.
At her giant's crestfallen expression, she realized he didn't understand.
She ran to him and jumped into his arms. “To you, silly. To you. Don't think you can get out of it because we're expecting. And I'm going to learn the ways of the sensite."
"Expecting? We're getting married?” Alphan lifted her to kiss her until she was breathless.
"Knowing what I know now, I would've done nothing differently. Kiss me until the sensite takes us where we've never been yet. I've heard we've only experienced a fraction of what's in store for us.” Sonja linked her arms around his neck and rained kisses on his handsome face.
The entire galaxy had better be ready ... she intended to be wild.
