“I was hoping you could enlighten me,” Balthazar said. Alex remained quiet for a moment.
“How long have I been asleep?” Alex asked. Her mind felt so fuzzy, like she had been asleep for ages.
“Nearly the entire day,” Balthazar told her. His voice was steady, and his face was calm, but inside he was nearly panicking. Their situation was dire, and he knew there was nothing he could do to keep Alex from the quickly approaching clutches of the Magi.
“He is coming,” Alex said, the sleep finally clearing from her mind and remembering what had happened. “He spoke to me.”
“Then you know,” Balthazar said. “We must…”
Alex suddenly attacked his lips with her own, cutting his words off. It was an awkward gesture, she was clearly inexperienced in initiating such contact. She knew what Balthazar wanted to say, she knew the trouble that was unfolding around her. But most importantly, she knew how to stop it. Balthazar returned the kiss, but quickly pulled back.
“Alexandra,” he said, “This is not the time to…”
Her finger on his lips stopped him from talking as her wide green eyes shone up at him. She could see the hesitation in him, but it had to be now. She knew what needed to be done. They needed to go back to her world, out of the reach of the Magi. It was only there that she would be able to become what she needed to be to beat the Magi once and for all.
Alex reached up with her lips to kiss him again, and he just couldn’t resist. His hands formed a mind of their own as they hungrily explored her curves. Her arousal began to swirl around him and he was gone, lost in the pleasure of it. Everything else faded away and the only thing in his mind was Alexandra and his desire to hear her breath his name in the throws of passion. He rolled over slightly, his body pinning hers to the bed. His hands worked frantically to untie the belt that held her robe together, snaking inside to feel the soft skin that lay beneath. He had wanted this for so long, and his body tensed in anticipation.
Alex could feel the hard curves of Balthazar’s body pressing into her. The roughness of his hands searching her body added a new level of sensation. The fire in her stomach grew as the pad of his thumb ran across the delicate flesh of her nipple. She gasped as he pinched it between his fingers, sending a tremble down her spine. He broke away from her lips, travelling down her neck to her collarbone, leaving a trail of wet kisses as he went. Her hands dug into his hair as his lips trailed lower, wrapping around a tender pink bud.
“Balthazar,” she panted softly as she arched her back into his caress. He answered her by dipping lower, kissing down her slender stomach. One hand moved under her buttocks, lifting her gently so that her legs parted allowing him to position his body between them. He could already feel the need growing in his groin, almost to an intolerable pitch, but he forced his own body to relax. He would not take his own pleasure until he had given Alexandra her own, knowing that his would bring her pain.
Alex tried to suppress the tickle that overtook her as Balthazar kissed a circle around her bellybutton. His hands came up on either side of her, holding her steady while he moved lower. He kissed her inner thighs, opening his mouth enough to let his fang graze her skin. His lips curled into a smirk as his action had the intended effect of further increasing her already intense arousal. She was panting heavily, her mind numb with the mixture of pleasure and pain of something missing. Her stomach burned with need. She sat up suddenly in the bed, looking down at the demon prince crouched between her legs as he kissed her in her most intimate place.
“What are you doing?” She gasped, the pleasure of the simple sensation rolling through her.
Balthazar said nothing, but reached his hand up to push her gently back down on the bed. She would learn soon enough what he was doing. He kissed her again and a trembling gasp left her lips. His hand wrapped around a slender thigh, pulling it away to give him a full, glorious view of her womanhood. His already painfully hardened member twitched with anticipation, and his other hand went to his own need, rubbing it in an attempt to release some of the pressure.
Alex hid her face in the pillow, embarrassment washing over her. She worried that she would not be pleasing to him, but as she felt his thumb running gently over her sensitive bud, all thought left her mind. A jolt of electric pleasure ran through her and she couldn’t stop the moan from leaving her lips.
Balthazar took the reaction as encouragement, and continued to assault the small bundle of nerves, his other hand trying to hold Alex still as she wriggled on the bed with every flick. His tongue trailed out and swirled around the bud, the strength and roughness of the wet appendage adding further to Alexandra’s pleasure. She was panting heavily, her entire body clenching with the overwhelming sensations Balthazar brought on. She struggled against the assault of pleasure, her head whipping from side to side. Her fingers dug into the sheets that covered the bed as she tried to hold on.
Balthazar gently slid a finger inside of her, mindful of the clawed tip, trying to prepare her for the coming sensations. Her hips bucked against his hand as he his finger began to massage the top of her inner walls, as his tongue continued to work on the nub.
Alexandra’s mind went numb, her body no longer able to handle the assault on so many fronts. She could feel something building inside of her, a need, a burning that only Balthazar could fill. Her legs shook and twitched uncontrollably as Balthazar relentlessly played in her folds. Electricity shot through her, every muscle in her body clenching as she screamed out the name of her lover. Her eyes washed over with white as Balthazar continued his actions through the contractions of her pleasure.
Balthazar crawled back up her body as she was trying to regain her senses. He untied the silk ties of his pants, freeing his manhood from the restrictive confines. He knew this was going to be painful for her, so he decided it would be best to do it as quickly as possible, while she was still affected by her orgasm. One hand caressed her face, as he stared into her eyes, the other one positioning himself at her entrance. Without giving her anytime to react, he impaled himself in her hot core.
Pain shot through Alex immediately and she couldn’t hold back the scream from escaping her lips. She felt like she was being torn from the inside out and she clung tightly to Balthazar, her eyes searching him for comfort. Balthazar remained still, in spite of his raging desire to plow carelessly into her with wild abandon, wanting her to adjust to the feel of him being inside of her before he continued.
Her warmth cradled him, wrapped around his manhood, calling him further into her. As the initial pain subsided, Alex began to move her hips, experimenting with the strange feeling of being so full. Balthazar slowly pulled out, but a hiss leaving Alexandra’s lips from the sting of the contact stopped him.
Alex could see Balthazar struggling. She knew he was trying to be gentle with her, but she really just wanted it to be over. Her hand cradled his chiseled face, pulling his clenched eyes open to look at her.
“It’s ok,” she said, even though the pain showed through her voice. “I want you to continue.”
Balthazar’s lips crashed down on hers, the last measure of his restraint leaving him at those words. His hips rocked in and out of her, slowly at first but quickly growing to a wild, rapid pace. Alex wrapped her arms around his shoulders, holding him tightly as she grit her teeth against the pain. She felt the muscles beneath her hands bunch and twist as a rumbling growl echoed in his chest before he collapsed on top of her, his heavy pants filling her ears.
Chapter Fifty
It was such a peculiar feeling that Alex felt, lying beneath Balthazar as he recovered from his own pleasures. She could feel the power coursing through her veins, like never before, and as she turned to look at Balthazar, the strangest site met her eyes. His once slightly pointed ears were now rounded. As he turned his head to look at her, she saw that the once slit shaped pupil of his eye was now rounded. He was human, in form at least.
Balthazar felt the shift in his powers as well, felt the massive increase
in his natural abilities. They were bonded, now and forever and he couldn’t think of a happier moment in all his life.
“Are you alright?” he asked softly, realizing that he had lost control of himself, suddenly fearful that he had maybe hurt her.
“I’ve never felt better,” she said, looking up at him with a smile. She realized that it wasn’t just the raw tingle of her natural powers that she could now feel. Her every sense was heightened. She could smell the subtle notes in Balthazar’s scent. The frantic motions of the palace staff scurrying around down the hall sounded in her ears. Her eyes could focus on even the tiniest spot on the wall, magnifying it at will. She wondered if this was what Balthazar sensed all the time. There was also another sense that Alex noticed. It was faint. It wasn’t a sight, a smell, a sound, or a touch. It was something more. It was Balthazar’s aura, and it brought to her the feeling of his very essence.
The door to the room flung open and Tavi rushed in, stopping dead in his tracks when the sight within met his eyes. He hadn’t thought to knock, not realizing what his elder brother and Alex could be doing. Balthazar jealously guarded Alexandra’s naked body with his own, a growl in his chest. He realized Tavi did not intend to catch sight of her in such a compromising position, but he couldn’t stop his protective instincts from kicking in. It was part of being a Devasi demon.
“Apologies,” Tavi stammered out, shielding his eyes.
“What do you want?” Balthazar growled out, when Tavi still didn’t leave the room.
“There…we…um,” Tavi stuttered his words.
“Spit it out,” Balthazar snapped. The situation was becoming more awkward by the second.
“Sorry,” Tavi said, still unable to find his words. “The Magi are attacking the palace. We have only moments before they breach the security.”
“Gather everyone,” Alex said, peaking out from underneath Balthazar. She knew exactly what to do.

To say that King Azi was disappointed in the turn of events would be a massive understatement. He could sense the change in Alex the moment he walked into the throne room with the others. She had formed a bond with Balthazar that could not be broken, and even though it now gave her the ability to more freely use her powers, there were other implications she was unaware of. Unfortunately, now it was too late to warn her of these things. He had been hoping to have the time to give her some proper guidance, before all hell had broken loose in Asur.
Yashmina and Nila gave Alex a knowing wink when they came into the room, each with their respective lovers. All the demons in the small group that had come to Asur, and the Dragon King, sat around a table with Alex and Balthazar sitting at the head. Princess Kali was there as well, presiding over the meeting from her throne.
“There is only one thing we can do,” Alex said, looking over at Azi. She knew he was not happy about the situation, but there was nothing to be done about it now. “King Azi, I need your help. I have the power, but I do not have the knowledge.”
“It will take considerable time,” Azi said, “time we do not have. Opening a doorway to your world is not a small task, if done improperly you could die.”
“We have no choice,” Alex said with determination. “We have to try.”
“Can you hold them off as long as possible?” Alex asked, looking over at Kali.
“My army will fight with all they have to protect the palace,” Kali said.
“Then it is settled,” Tavi said, his hand grabbing for Yashmina’s sensing the nervousness in her aura. Kali stood, leaving the room to lead her army against the threat that was knocking at her door.
“I suppose we should get started,” Azi said with a heavy sigh. He did not have high hopes that this would be even remotely successful.
Chapter Fifty One
“Clear your mind,” Azi said, his voice calm despite the urgency surrounding them. “You must block out all distractions and give this your full concentration.”
Alexandra inhaled deeply, trying to push all the worries from her mind. She could hear the fighting raging somewhere in the distance, could feel the Asuri loosing the fight. It wasn’t easy to ignore it.
“If your concentration slips for even a moment,” Azi said, sensing her concern, “death will quickly take us all.”
Alex took another steady inhale. She could do this. She would have to. She could not let the fear or worry distract her from the task at hand. She released everything, pushing it out of her mind.
“Good,” Azi said, feeling the release. “Now, I am going to reach out to you Alexandra, and I want you to accept the feeling. You will feel a pinch at the back of your mind. That is my aura. Take a hold of it, welcome it.”
Alex nodded her understanding. She felt a slight nag at the back of her mind, and she complied with the Dragon King’s directions, grabbing onto it with her own aura. Azi felt the connection and was relieved. They had passed one of the most delicate parts. He was a little surprised at her ability to so quickly form the connection with his own aura.
“Now,” he said, “I am going to guide you through this. Simply follow the feeling. I have the knowledge, but I need your power to carry the task out.”
Azi was trying to ignore the fact that he could also feel Balthazar’s aura right along with Alexandra’s. He knew Balthazar could feel him as well. It made his stomach turn that he would ever connect with a demon. Dragon aura’s were a powerful thing, and they rarely revealed them to anyone. Doing so laid open all their weaknesses. But desperate times called for desperate measures.
Before Azi could initiate the process that would open the doorway to the human world, the room they were in began to fill with a noxious black smoke. The choking mist filled the lungs of everyone in the room. Alexandra’s eyes snapped open as she began coughing uncontrollably.
They were too late. The Ancient was here, reaching out to Alex, grabbing for her. Azi wouldn’t have the time to guide her through the process, even if she could concentrate through the chaos that was erupting around them. There was only one thing he could do. He had lived a long, full life. His kingdom was left in ruin, every last one of his people drained for their blood to keep the Ancient alive. Alexandra was the last hope for everyone, and she had to escape the clutches of this evil at all costs. He would not be there to guide her, and this world would perish soon, but she would be safe. He ignored the pressure of the smoke that wrapped around him, trying to prevent him from opening the door. Azi didn’t have the energy to open the door and live, but if he put all his life force behind the effort, he could do it. He would not live, but Alexandra would, and that is what matters. A burst of light filled the room, blinding all those within and pushing back the blackness as Azi released the full force of his aura. Alexandra felt the weight of her body shifting, accompanied by a heavy nausea, then nothingness.

Alex sat alone, once more staring out the window of Sam’s house. She just watched, trying to clear her mind of the turmoil that lurked beneath the surface. She had been back in her world for several weeks now, and though there were things in this world that brought immense comfort, there was so much she missed. Her time in the world of demons had been relatively short, but it had changed her life immensely. A heavy sigh left her lips as she stood from the window bench and plopped down on the bed. She picked up the sparkly little blue diary that Sam had given her upon her return and opened it to a fresh page. She had never been one to keep a diary before, but now she found it helped her to organize her thoughts and deal with the mess of emotions that constantly ran through her.
Just as she was about to start writing, her nose picked up a well-known smell. Only moments later she heard a knock on the door of her bedroom.
“Come in,” she said softly, setting the diary down. She would have to find another time to write out her thoughts. The door opened a crack and Sam stuck his head in.
“You coming downstairs?” he asked softly.
“Yeah,” Alex said with a heavy sigh. She had
been dreading this all day.
“Actually,” a heavy baritone voice said from behind Sam as the door was pushed open wider, “I was hoping to have a moment alone.”
“Balthazar,” Alex chastised him with a smirk, “you know I have to train.”
“So,” he said with a shrug, stepping past Sam. “Perhaps your teacher would like a few moments alone with Sam.”
Sam threw his hands up and left the two alone, closing the door behind him. AnnaBeth wouldn’t be happy about the wait, but there was no use in arguing with either of them. They did exactly as they pleased.
“You know AnnaBeth is gonna chew me out,” Alex said, putting a hand on her hip. She tried to feign mad, but she couldn’t. She wanted some alone time as much as he did. A smile grew on her face as Balthazar closed the distance between them, taking her hands in his.
“It will be worth it,” Balthazar said, as he lifted her hand to his lips, “My Lady.”
