“If it can go badly, it will go very badly”
IGT - Interconnected Galaxies Treaty. The inhabited Galaxies that form a symbiotic union for their mutual benefit. It was evolved after centuries of early haphazard contact between species, which many times led to wars and genocides. Conceived by galactic survivors of wars that were so annihilative they had no other choice if they were to survive. These wars were so devastating, that the laws developed were specifically defined, and required that the punishment for violation was without leniency. In later times, as new galaxies and species were discovered, many were able to join without having suffered the devastation, learning from the terrible history of the founding members. Some galaxies chose not to join, but non-member peoples do not benefit from the mutual protection, technological advancements, and emergency aid supplied to members.
