“Thank you, Carstairs.”
The butler’s brows rose in apparent curiosity, but he announced Caine and took his leave.
“Caine?” Gabriel smiled as he waved him in. “Do come in. I’m in dire need of a distraction today. Waiting for my heir is quite vexing.”
Caine stepped in and sat across from him. “I don’t know how pleased you will be by my visit, but you will be distracted.”
“Oh? What is the matter? Honestly, you look most agitated.”
“You must do something for Peter and Iris.”
Gabriel blinked. “The first footman and Millicent’s maid?”
Caine gave a sharp nod. “Precisely.”
Gabriel leaned forward and folded his hands on the desk. “What is your involvement with them, as if I didn’t know?”
Caine’s face heated, but he held his expression. “They love each other and must not lose their positions because of it.”
“They?” Gabriel’s eyes narrowed. “Caine, what are you not telling me?”
Caine met his gaze directly now. “What you’re thinking is true. I’m not ashamed to admit my involvement.”
To his astonishment Gabriel grinned. “I’m pleased to hear it.”
“I don’t understand.”
“Caine, you love them.”
“I…” He shook his head. “I care about them. I want them safe.”
Gabriel waved a hand. “Don’t worry over them. Although Millicent will be peeved to train yet another lady’s maid.”
Caine sucked in a breath. “You won’t dismiss her!”
Gabriel laughed now. “Hardly. She’ll go with you, won’t she? Peter, too?”
Caine was speechless.
“You came here today on their behalf, Caine. You’re clearly besotted. You’ve done it.”
Caine’s pulse pounded in his ears. “I’ve done what?”
“You’ve broken your curse.”
“What?”
“Each one of us, without exception, has broken their curse here at the manor. And each one, in his very own way.”
“I love them?”
Gabriel laughed again. “Are you asking me?”
“No.” Caine stood. “I…no. I love them.”
“Go, then.” Gabriel leaned back. “Go and fix what you’ve managed to muck up today.”
“How do you know I’ve made a mess of it?”
Gabriel shook his head. “You’re a Hawk, man. We’re all, to a man, ignorant of our hearts at first.”
Caine stood and shook the earl’s hand. “Thank you, Gabriel.”
Gabriel smiled, and Caine’s heart expanded with familial warmth now. He left the study, bound for his guest chamber to ring for Peter.
Peter arrived with all due haste, as was his custom. His expression was guarded, and Caine didn’t know quite how to broach the subject burning in his breast since his moment of realization in Gabriel’s study.
“Peter, you’ll be leaving Hawksfell.” Peter appeared shocked, and Caine shook his head. “You’re not losing your position. Not precisely.”
Peter shook his head. “Caine, what are you saying?”
Caine smiled. “You’re calling me Caine again. That’s a good start.”
“Please, Caine. What is going on?”
“I love you, Peter. You and Iris both.”
Peter’s well-formed mouth gaped. “Pardon?”
Caine stepped closer and held him closer, touching his face. “Look, I’ve handled this very badly. I want you and Iris. With me.” He gave him a kiss. “At Burnley Court.”
“On your staff?” Iris asked from the open doorway.
Caine turned in surprise. “Iris, you’re here?”
She closed the door, folding her hands in front of her. “The earl sent me.”
“Oh, sweetheart.” Peter went to her and covered her hands with his. “You must have been shocked.”
Her smile was small but sweet. “I admit I thought I was being sacked before he told me to go to Caine’s guest chamber.”
Caine smiled his own relief. “The earl is a wise man.”
“What does this mean, Caine?” she asked.
“Yes,” Peter said. “I’d like to know the answer to that.”
“I want the three of us to be together.” He took Iris’s hands in his now. “Marry me, Iris. You’ll love caring for no one but yourself, aside from me and Peter that is.”
“Marry you?” She blinked her gorgeous violet eyes. “What of Peter?”
“Peter will come with us.” He turned to Peter. “Don’t worry about your family. I’ll see that they continue to receive your pay packet from Burnley Court.”
Peter grinned, his eyes sparkling. “I’ll continue as your valet, then?”
“Never that.” Caine pushed his shoulder against his. “You’ll be a part of our marriage. A true part.”
Iris let out a cry of delight and threw her arms around Caine’s neck. Peter hugged Caine, and drew Iris into his arms, as well. Desire flared in Caine, and he saw the answering heat on both of their faces.
They were soon on his bed, naked to the last one and as close as they could manage to be. Peter sat as Iris pressed her supple body close against him. Caine caressed them both, his cock hard against her soft bottom. This was different from his beast’s cravings. He should have recognized from the first, but that didn’t matter now. They were his and he was theirs, and today they would make love together.
“I’m going to enter your sweet ass, love,” he told Iris, rubbing against her slick body. “Peter will be in your pussy.”
She murmured something, compelling sounds of agreement, moving as Peter stroked her until she was panting.
“Will you take us both, sweetheart?” Peter asked her.
She lifted her head, kissing first Peter and then looking at Caine over her shoulder. “Forever.”
“Forever,” Caine marveled aloud.
He held her still, using the floral cream to ease his way. She was tight there. So tight until Peter began to stroke her more deeply.
“I have to be inside you,” Caine said.
“Yes,” Peter agreed. “Now.”
Peter placed his hands on Iris’s round cheeks, and Caine covered them with his own. Then he was there. At her entrance and slowly pushing inside. She gasped, and then cried out.
“Are you all right?” Caine asked, holding himself still. “Tell me, love.”
“I’m all right.” Iris let out an audible breath. “Oh, please.”
Caine caught Peter’s eye and nearly imperceptible nod. Withdrawing a bit from Iris, he shifted her so that her pussy was directly over Peter’s cock. Peter took advantage and pulled her down on him. She cried out again, pleasure making her limbs quake.
“Oh, yes!” She tried to move, but Caine held her still. “Oh, please!”
“Easy, love.” Caine sank in again as Peter withdrew. “That’s it.”
They began a rhythm, and it was exquisite. Perfect. He could feel Peter inside her as he stroked in and out of her ass. Peter moaned as the two of them took her. Their bodies were slick with sweat, and Caine hastened his thrusts. Again and again they fucked her, wringing every bit of passion from her as they moved. His climax came up fast, but not before Peter exploded deep within her and Iris screamed her release. Caine then tumbled over the edge himself.
When they were spent and entwined together on the bed, Iris held between them, Caine stroked Iris’s skin and entwined his fingers with Peter’s.
“This is what I want,” he said, closing his eyes.
“Forever,” Peter added.
“I love you both,” Iris sighed.
Caine didn’t have to answer her. Peter didn’t have to, either. The three of them would be together forever. If there was a child, he would welcome it as Gabriel would his. And his damned beast would never raise its head again.
Caine had broken his curse, and in the process he found a love to last him forever.
