ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
As always, there are plenty of people to thank.
Elizabeth Kribs came up with the original idea. Agent Daphne Hart of the Helen Heller Agency found it a good home with Craig Pyette and Anne Collins of Random House Canada, who provided their usual intelligent and positive editing and support.
From Italy, there were Carabinieri colonels Fabio Bottino and Sergio Schiavone, and prosecutor Nicola Gratteri.
Other thanks must go to Mike Amato, Luciano Bentenuto, Denis Castelli, Tony Cianciotta, Calogero Giuffrida, Emmanuel Marchand, Donato Santeramo and Antonio Vitti.
Also, there was unselfish and cheerful support from Daniel Renaud of La Presse and Linda Gyulai of the Montreal Gazette.
There are also some valued sources who should know we appreciate them but who cannot be thanked publicly for professional or personal reasons.
Peter Edwards has written for the Toronto Star for over twenty-five years, specializing in organized crime and justice issues. He is the author of twelve non-fiction books, including The Bandido Massacre: A True Story of Bikers, Brotherhood and Betrayal; One Dead Indian: The Premier, the Police and the Ipperwash Crisis; A Mother’s Story: The Fight to Free My Son David (with Joyce Milgaard); and Unrepentant: The Strange and (sometimes) Terrible Life of Lorne Campbell, Satan’s Choice and Hells Angel Biker. Edwards has been awarded an eagle feather from the Union of Ontario Indians and a gold medal from the Centre for Human Rights.
