Big Baller: Bad Boy Sports Romance Page 34

I lasted longer than I thought I would. She crawled down my body into the reverse-cowgirl position. After I slipped a condom on, she rubbed her pussy against the tip of my dick.

“You’re teasing me,” I said, squeezing her ass cheeks.

  “Yeah, but you like it.”

  “I do…”

My voice trailed off as she moved back, sliding my cock deep in her pussy. She moaned loudly as I penetrated her completely.

“That’s it,” I whispered as she rocked forward slightly.

In and out, we found the perfect rhythm. I wondered what it would be like to fuck her without a condom, to come strong and hard deep in her pussy. She would have my children.

“Smack my ass,” she cried, moving faster.

I obliged, leaving her ass cheeks red as she screamed out in pleasure, coming on my dick. She slowed down then moved forward, my cock slipping out of her pussy.

“Damn. I thought you were going to come quick,” she said, turning around.

  “So did I.”

“What can I do for you?” she asked. “What will make you come.”

A thousand thoughts ran through my mind as I stroked my dick to keep it hard.

  “Stay there…”

She climbed back onto me, hovering over my cock while looking me in the eyes. When she lowered herself on me, I thought I would come right then and there. I thrust up and into her even deeper.

Gradually, we found a new rhythm. As I slid in and out of her pussy, I reached up to feel her breasts, loving the way they swung and bounced as she rode me.

“Come on, baby. Come for me…”

The sound of her voice pushed me over the edge. I thrust up and into her one last time, emptying my load into the condom. She collapsed forward, resting her breasts and cheek on my chest.

  Life couldn’t get any better.

  THIRTY-TWO

  Tony

Christmas morning, I woke up before her and snuck out of bed with a plan to go talk to Coach before their big game later in the day. They had hired me back, but I still didn’t know when I would suit up and actually get to play. And I needed to ask him about an advance or another bonus to pay the bookie.

The last thing I needed was Jackson Cash or Big John going crazy right when I was getting my life on track. I had considered the offer to throw the championship game, but I put it off until I actually started playing and made it to the final match-up.

When I arrived at the stadium, I saw his car parked in its usual spot. It wasn’t until I walked through the doorway and headed to the locker room that I realized how much I had missed playing. Hell, even walking into the stadium felt nice.

All heads turned when I walked into the locker room as they prepared for that afternoon’s game. I had never minded playing on Christmas or other holidays, but I could immediately tell not all of my teammates were happy Coach let me on the team again.

“Hey, guys,” I said as I walked between the two long benches.

One or two nodded their head at me, but no one said anything. With Keith gone after setting me up, they were relying on a quarterback who usually played the position of bench-warmer. With a little time, they would be glad to have me playing alongside them.

I knocked on Coach’s door then opened it and stuck my head in.

  “You got a minute?”

He looked up at me and frowned.

“Not really. What do you want?”

“I’m wondering when I’ll get to play again.”

“This is the last game of the normal season. I’ll bring you in during the playoffs. If we win today.”

“We have a strong team, Coach.”

“Yeah, but are star quarterback is a fucking psycho.”

“I’m taking anger management sessions,” I said then walked all the way in, shutting the door behind me. “I signed up for two months, but I may go longer.”

He stared at me then slowly nodded.

“That’s good. Stick with it. You’ve got a few good years left in you.”

  “Just a few?” I joked.

“I’ll call you soon. Are you staying for the game today?”

“No, I need to get back and take care of some stuff. It’s Christmas, after all.”

“Yeah, don’t remind me,” he said.

  “One more thing…”

  “What?”

“Any chance I can get an advance?”

“You’re lucky to be playing at all. You’ll get another paycheck at the end of January like everyone else.”

  “I need money now, Coach.”

“What have you gotten into now?” he asked.

“I can’t get into it right now. This will really help me out.”

“Dammit, Tony. I need your head in the game. Is this another gambling debt?”

I frowned and nodded my head, feeling shame, something I wasn’t familiar with.

“Fuck,” he said, shaking his head again. “If it’s not one thing, it’s another with you.”

“I’ll figure it out on my own,” I said.

“Hold on. How much do you owe?”

  “You don’t want to know.”

  “Yes, I do.”

  “A million.”

  His eyes widened.

  “Are you fucking kidding me?”

“No. I can pay you back within a year, with interest.”

“I don’t have that kind of money laying around. You’ve not saved any of your signing bonus?”

“Most of it went to rent and partying.”

He shook his head slowly, shaming me.

“I can write you a check for a couple hundred thousand, but I need it back before I retire.”

“I’ll do it, Coach. I promise.”

“I can’t believe I’m doing this for you, but I feel bad about the bullshit Keith pulled on you.”

  “Thank you, Coach.”

I watched as he pulled out a checkbook and filled it out.

“You better win the big game,” he said as he tore it off then handed it to me. “I need another championship ring before I retire.”

“I will win it for you, Coach,” I said with as much confidence as I could muster.

After taking the check, I hightailed it out of his office before he changed his mind. The other players stared at me as I walked out of the locker room. If it was any other day than Christmas, I might have stayed to watch their game, but I needed to get to Andrea before she woke up.

  ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

She was awake and sitting in the living room when I returned. The look on her face let me know she wasn’t very happy with me.

  “You’re up,” I said.

  “Where have you been?”

“I had to go talk to Coach.”

I pulled the check out of my pocket as I walked over. She grabbed it.

  “Wow. What is this for?”

“Coach is helping me out with the bookie.”

  “He approves of you betting?”

“No, but he needs me in the playoffs. He wants another win before he retires.”

“This is a lot of money.”

“I know, and it’s still not enough. I’ll have to sell the Maserati. If I sell it, I should have just enough to pay the debt. I have other news too.”

  “Yeah? Good or bad?”

“Good, I think. I’m moving out.”

“Are you for real right now?”

“Think about it,” I said. “We’re not breaking up, but it’s for the best. I need my own space for a while, at least until after the championship game.”

“So, you don’t need me anymore?”

  “It’s not like that.”

“What’s it like, Tony? Huh? Tell me what it’s like.”

“This is what I mean. I need to relax and be ready for these last few games.”

“You’re incredulous,” she said, shaking her head. “You’re telling me this on Christmas.”

“Can’t you think of it as a special present?”

  “Stop
.” She stood up. “I’m going to work on my novel.”

  “Is it done yet?”

  “Wouldn’t you like to know.”

“Come on, Andrea. Don’t be like this.”

“Just get your shit and leave, okay Mr. Grinch? I thought you had no money.”

“I’m going to have to dip into my savings, but I think it’s important for us to step back for a few weeks before…”

  I stopped talking.

  “Before what?”

“You know,” I said. “We take this to the next level.”

“No, I don’t know with you. We’re hot one minute and cold the next. You’re driving me nuts.”

“That’s why it will be good for us to spend some time apart. All my time is going to be spent watching old games and working out to get ready. I don’t have much time.”

“It’s fine,” she said sarcastically. “At least I know what’s important to you now.”

I sighed, not digging her reaction. What did I expect? Not what she gave me.

“I’ll call you later, okay. I’m renting a room downtown. They have a gym onsite. Call me if you need anything, okay?”

“Why are you doing this on Christmas Day?”

“We can spend the day together if you want. You’re the one getting upset and leaving the room.”

  “Whatever, Tony.”

She turned and walked into her bedroom, shutting the door behind her. I followed, having to get the few clothes I had not sold. When I saw her sitting on the bed with her back against the headboard, I regretted leaving on Christmas Day. I should have given her another day.

To be honest, living with her had freaked me out more than I wanted to admit to myself. Neither of us said a word as I packed my suitcase. When I finished, I stopped at the door to her room and turned around.

“I’m leaving,” I said. “This is for the best. Trust me, okay?”

“Mmmhmm,” she said, not looking up from the laptop resting on her thighs.

I opened the door and left. While my timing hadn’t been perfect, the idea was solid. After I won the final big game, I planned on taking her to the pool at the hotel for her to dive. When she came up, I’d present her with a ring. Until then, I needed time to make sure I was ready for a family of my own.

While I loved Andrea deeply, I wanted to be positive before I committed myself to her. I’d seen too many marriages break apart, especially those of my teammates and other football stars across the country. A little time apart would do us good. I was sure of it.

  THIRTY-THREE

  Andrea

  New Year’s Eve

With Tony out of the house since Christmas, I’d actually finished my novel. Taking a week vacation helped considerably, but it was nice to step back from our relationship. The only problem? I found myself missing him, especially as the hours counted down until the new year.

I sent him a text message, asking if he had a few minutes to meet up before the ball dropped. If we kissed at the changing of the year, we would be blessed with an entire twelve months of bliss via kisses. With the novel finished, I was ready to celebrate. Surely he could take an hour to see me.

Ten minutes passed with no answer to the text message. I stared at his picture on the screen of my phone, debating whether or not I should call him. While I didn’t want to seem desperate or needy, I was both as New Year’s Eve ticked away before my eyes.

I sighed then tapped the screen and put the phone to my ear. It went straight to his voicemail. What the hell? Why isn’t he answering? Does he have another woman? Is that why he rushed out of here on Christmas Day? The questions piled up in my mind without answers.

He had sent me the hotel and room number where he was staying Christmas evening, but I hadn’t responded or called him. At first I had been upset, but as I channeled the emotions into my novel, I began to understand what he meant by taking a breather. It felt nice.

Except for the fact he wouldn’t answer his damn phone.

“Screw this,” I said out loud, determined not to be alone on New Year’s Eve.

Before rushing over to the hotel room he had rented to supposedly prepare for the playoff games, I took time to print out a copy of my novel. It still needed to be edited, but it was getting closer to being complete with each passing day.

As I waited for the printed sheets to pop out of the machine, I wondered what Tony might be doing. Had I done something wrong to drive him away? None of it made sense to me. Well, except for the fact I found myself falling in love with the bad boy sports star.

I picked up my phone and called him again. It went straight to voicemail. What the hell? I set the phone down on my desk. With each printed page that came out, I became more upset about him ignoring me for almost an entire week and then ignoring my calls.

He has to have someone holed up over there with him. I had no proof to back-up my fears and suspicions, but it all made sense. If he was back on top, why would he need someone like me? Self-doubts infiltrated my brain and caused havoc as I waited.

When the novel finally finished printing, I stacked it up in a neat pile and placed it on the top of my desk. Staring at it, I almost didn’t believe I had finished an entire novel. I had always read romance novels since discovering them in my teen years, but this was different. It was my book.

I sat at my desk another moment or two, wondering if Tony had simply used me. It wouldn’t have been the first time a man took advantage of me in my life. Almost all my previous boyfriends had done so in one way or another. With a sigh, I stood up. I’m going. I have to know.

After stuffing the manuscript into my oversized purse, I headed outside. I got into my car and waited another few minutes, wondering if I should just show up at his hotel room unannounced.

Maybe something happened to him, I reasoned. If he’s hurt in his room with the phone off, I’ll be saving him not checking up on him.

After backing out of my driveway, I slowly headed toward the hotel where he was staying. It’s not wrong to want to not be alone on New Year’s Eve, I told myself. The closer I got, the more enraged I became. Why am I worried about what he thinks of me? He’s the one not answering.

Block by block, my anger ramped up. By the time I parked in front of the hotel downtown, I was fit to be tied. Anger raged through my mind as I stormed to the entrance. Inside the lobby, I headed straight to the bank of elevators on the far side. A few employees looked at me, but they said nothing.

On the way up to his floor in the elevator, I ran through a few things I might say to him if he answered. What if he doesn’t answer the door? What if another woman answers? What if a man answers? As I neared his room, my questions got even more ridiculous.

A bell rang and the elevator door slid open. I stomped out then looked to the left and right, trying to figure out which way to go. I knew his room number, but not where the numbers started. I decided to go left, walking quickly down the carpeted hallway while checking room numbers on doors.

When I reached his room, I stopped and took a deep breath. Is this the right thing to do? What am I going to find behind this door? Am I ready for it? Can I handle breaking up with Tony on New Year’s Eve? I reached out and knocked on the door twice, loudly, before my righteous anger died down.

  THIRTY-FOUR

  Andrea

I heard faint laughter behind the door. Screw this! I banged even harder.

“Open up, Tony. I know you’re in there, you dog!”

The lock clicked and the door slowly swung open. I saw Tony, dressed in jeans and a tee-shirt, standing with a smile on his face.

“Hey, Andrea. What are you doing here?”

“What am I doing here?” I asked angrily. “What are you doing here?”

I barged into the room, ready for anything except what I saw.

Instead of naked women or men lounging on the bed, I saw a half-dozen people sitting around the living room area of the extended-stay room.

“Are you okay?” Tony asked, putting his han
d on my back.

“No,” I said, twisting away from him. “You wouldn’t answer my calls. Is this some type of swinger party or something?”

  Tony laughed.

“No, it’s my anger management group. We’ve been meeting all week, and I think I’m making a breakthrough.”

  “Anger management group?”

All the hysterics and animosity toward Tony went away in an instant, whooshing out of me like air from a punctured balloon. I put my hand over my mouth, suddenly more embarrassed than I’d been at any other time in my life.

“I’m so sorry,” I said, backing toward the door.

“It’s okay,” Tony said. “I’ve had my phone off because it helps us concentrate.”

I turned and bolted for the door. Tony stepped out of the room after me.

“Hold on,” he said. “Are you okay?”

“I’m so embarrassed. When you didn’t answer and I didn’t hear from you all week, I thought…I thought…”

He put his strong arms around me and held me tight, not caring who saw us in the hallway.

“It’s okay,” he said in a soothing voice while rubbing my back.

“I’m such an idiot,” I sobbed.

“No, you’re not. I should have called, but I’ve been wrapped up with this and getting ready for the playoffs.”

“It’s okay,” he said. “You can come and join us. We were almost finished.”

  “No, I shouldn’t…”

“It’s okay,” he interrupted. “I’d like to have you in there with me.”

  “I don’t know…”

  “Please?”

  “Okay,” I relented then sniffed.

“I didn’t mean to worry you. I’ve just been super busy.”

“Me too. I finished my novel.”

  I patted my purse.

“You going to let me read it?”

  “Not yet,” I said.

“Okay. Let’s get back. We were about to stop the meeting anyway.”

“I’m proud of you for doing this.”
