"I'm serious, Andres. I don't see why you two couldn't have handled this yourselves tonight. You have the ammo and the people. Why was I needed?" Bobbie turned swiftly, forcing Agostino's hand from her waist.
"Because you were the bait the first time." Agostino simply told her, leaving her confused.
"What does that even mean?" Bobbie raised a brow.
"It means the person that used you as bait is expecting you here tonight. Mario was supposed to take you out, but since he failed, his little buddy wants to finish the job. He wanted us to bring you because it's you he's really after." Agostino explained with a lazy look on his face.
Bobbie twisted up her face and looked at Andres.
"You've already told me this. You told me all of this back in my hotel in Marathon." Bobbie tried to jog their memory.
"We told you that both you and Agostino were being followed because that's what we initially thought, but it turns out you're the one he really wants, Bobbie." Andres relayed with a serious look.
Bobbie went cold. The type of cold she felt when Mario was after her in Madrid. That chilling, gripping cold that let her know she terrified beyond belief.
"That's why it's best if you just play along, Mrs. Carmine. Your life is at stake if you don't play this our way." Agostino whispered in her ear as he draped his arm over her waist.
Bobbie inhaled deeply as she balled her lips in.
"Okay. I...I just want you two to promise me one thing." She peered at Agostino and Andres intently.
"What is it?" Andres frowned.
"Promise that you'll get me back in one piece to my son?" Her eyes grew watery.
"Don't say such foolish things, Bobbie. Our son's not going to go a day without." Agostino glared at her.
Bobbie fanned her tears away and nodded. When she wanted to hate him, she… She pushed the crazy thought from her head.
"Johnny and I are going to flush out the crowd for any undercovers, and you and Bobbie find Gomez. He's our mole." Bobbie's eyes almost popped out of her head at Andres' comment.
Gomez! Gomez was after her?! But why? She had never met Gomez a day in her life until Alissa's birthday party in Marathon. Bobbie watched Andres and Johnny disappear into the crowd of extravagantly dressed guests. Agostino guided her into the middle of the room, immediately drawing attention to them. He smirked. Good. It was just a matter of time before.
"Well, I see you got my invite, Agostino. And you brought your lovely wife." He turned to see Gomez walking toward them with a charming smile plastered on his face.
Bobbie held her fear in, masking it with a tight smile.
"And here I thought you were just a lowly waitress in the keys, 'Ms. Stone'." Gomez laughed in a condescending manner.
"Assure you, Mr. Gomez, I'm no lowly anything." She placed her hand on Agostino's chest, flashing her massive wedding ring.
When Agostino made her put it on for the gala tonight, she wanted to vomit, but it was worth seeing Gomez's face harden as he eyed it. As Bobbie felt her husband's chest, she noticed he was a bit plumper than she remembered.
"Ahh, I can see that now. Are you not going to properly introduce your gem, Agostino. I've only none her by one name, and it certainly doesn't pair well with this image." His eyes scanned over her body, and Agostino's jaw clenched.
"Bobbie. Bobbie Carmine, at your service." Bobbie introduced herself.
"As you can see, Gomez, my wife speaks for herself. She's not a child nor pet, you don't have to speak over her as if I'm her owner." He threw Gomez an easy smile.
"Is that so? I should have figured such since you also let her work for herself. A man of your stature letting your wife work as a waitress? Miles from home? If I were you, I'd have my pussy on a tighter leash." Gomez boasted, and Bobbie felt her gut heating up with anger.
"And you've helped me with just that, David." Agostino chuckled darkly. A slow scowl spread across David's face, and Bobbie felt that familiar coldness.
"Oh, not as much as you helped me." He sneered.
Everything happened so fast.
Andres called Agostino's name from the second floor of the balcony as he rushed a gunman holding a rifle. Agostino looked up quickly then back at Gomez, who had pulled out a .42 and aimed it at Bobbie. Before Bobbie could process what was going on she was being shoved into the screaming crowd. She yelled as someone wrapped their hands around her, yanking her deeper into the crowd. Gomez fired his gun, hitting Agostino in his shoulder and chest as a barrage of Agostino's men flooded the back of the museum, guns ready for war. Agostino fell to the ground, and Gomez rushed into the crowd scanning for Bobbie. Andres took down the rifleman with two shots to the kneecaps before the other gunman could get a round off.
He rushed to the first level of the museum and helped Agostino up from the ground. They followed the route Gomez had made into the museum parking garage and began shooting after him. Suddenly a gang of Gomez's men ran into the garage, blasting shots at the cousins. Using the expensive cars in the garage as shields, the men took turns firing off shots. The sound of screeching tires was heard as Agostino's black BMW skidded into the group out of nowhere. Bodies were thrown every which way as the car hit yet, that didn't stop more men from swarming out with guns blazing. The car stoppedin front of Agostino and Andres, and Johnny hastily pushed the door open and pulled the men in. Bobbie pushed herself into the opposite door as bullets and glass flew every.
Andres shut the door then aimed out as he spotted what appeared to be Gomez near the back exit with a crazed look on his face as he slipped into a yellow Porsche. Jericho, one of Agostino's men and the getaway driver, zoomed out of the museum parking garage. The car bolted down the street with David's Porsche on their tail. Multiple shots hit the car, causing the back window to blow out. Agostino and Andres that as their advantage and focused their guns cautiously, firing off numerous rounds. Bullets popped of David's Porsche and ricocheted through the night air. He aimed out the window and fired at the back window, causing Agostino and Andres to duck.
Johnny took his chance to fire out the side window, making David swerve. He corrected his Porsche and increased his speed. "Hit the breaks!" Agostino yelled over the sound of whipping bullets. Jericho slammed on the brakes, which made David bypass them. Agostino, Andres, and Johnny lit David's Porsche up from the back repeatedly until it burst into flames.
CHAPTER FOURTEEN
Jericho sped past the burning metal that was once David's Porsche, and Agostino let out a long sigh as he undid his tux, revealing the bulletproof vest he was wearing. Bobbie looked at him in surprise. After he pushed her into the crowd and the getaway driver drug her away, she was sure Gomez had killed Agostino. A pain-filled grunt fell from his lips as he dug a bullet out from his shoulder blade. Bobbie grimaced as she watched him chuck the bullet onto the floor of the BMW. He turned to look at her, and Bobbie quickly adjusted her eyes to the four opposite her. During the entire ride back to the Beja mansion she could feel Agostino staring her down. As soon as they made it to the house Bobbie rushed from the car and into the house.
She kicked off her shoes and raced up the stairs to the housekeeper’s quarters. Pushing the door open, she saw the maid sitting in the bed, rocking Emilio to sleep. She stepped over and thanked the woman profusely before leaving the room venturing to her own. Bobbie leaned against her closed-door as she cuddled her sleeping son to her chest. Although he didn't agree to the promise, Agostino still kept it.
A couple of days later, Bobbie was still reeling from the car chase. She was still trying to cope with the fact that Agostino took two bullets for her, even if he was wearing a bulletproof vest. The bullet to his chest didn't do much damage thanks to the best, but the one in his shoulder put him down for a few days. He was recovering nicely with help from the private doctors Andres' hired for him but couldn't put too much pressure on his arm. Even though he had kept his promise and made sure she was safe, Bobbie was afraid to go to him. She was supposed to hate him, not be gracious that he wa
s still here. The intense need to go and tend to him weighed her down.
She felt like she was losing it.
Bobbie was currently in the backyard of the Beja mansion as she played with Emilio. Correction: as she tried to play with Emilio. He had been really cranky lately, and Bobbie didn't know how to snap him out of it.
"Here, Milio." She tried to give him his favorite toy, his fire truck, but he keeps fussing as she bounced him on her lap.
A shade fell over her lounge chair, and she looked up, seeing Agostino. Emilio's screams immediately followed once he took notice of his father.
"Dada, dada." He chanted as he reached for him.
Bobbie let him go into his father's arms cautiously.
"Be careful." Bobbie found herself whispering as she eyed his bandaged shoulder.
His eyes flicked to her, pinning her to her seat. His eyes lingered on her for a few seconds, taking in the floral tank dress she had on. Her pixie cut was combed back, showcasing her face. She looked stunning today.
"I'm fine, Bobbie. A bullet wound won't keep me from picking up my son." He told her softly.
Taking a seat next to her, he began bouncing Emilio on his left leg, the chunky baby laughing as if it were the most exciting thing. Bobbie gazed over at them, her eyes straying to his wound.
"Does it hurt badly?" She asked.
"Do you know how many times I've been shoot, Hermosa? A little hit to the shoulder is nothing." Agostino relayed; his gaze glued to Emilio.
Bobbie reached out timidly and brushed her fingers against the blood-stained bandages. Agostino stilled at her touch, and his eyes snapped to her, causing her to snatch her hand down.
"I'm sorry. I-," she began, but her husband stopped her.
"You don't have to ask permission to touch me, Bobbie. We took vows to one another, every inch of me is yours." Agostino purred seductively, which made Bobbie's lower parts thump to life.
"You mean the vows you forced me to take?" She jerked her nose up and looked away.
Agostino's deep chuckle erupted behind her, and her nipples hardened.
"Are you going to fight me every day, hermosa, when you know you won't win? No matter how much you detest me, you're still mine and there's nothing you can do to change that." He grazed a finger down her exposed arm.
She jerked away and hugged herself. She looked over the flowers in the garden as the boys entertained each other, wondering how she was going to build up the courage to say 'thank you' for a few nights ago. Exhaling a strong breath, she turned and blurted it out.
"Thank you." She quickly planted her sight on Emilio, who looked like he was dozing off.
"You don't have to thank me, Bobbie. I may not be the kindest or...loving, but when it comes down to you and Emilio, I'll use every resource in my defense to protect you two." Agostino confessed truthfully.
Bobbie flicked her eyes to him, and their gazed locked. Bobbie looked away first, placing her orbs back on Emilio, who was knocked out.
"I should put him to bed." She mumbled as she reached for the baby.
"I'll walk you up," Agostino stated as he stood and hicked Milio up on his shoulder.
"No, it's fine, I can-," she started, but he silenced her with a sharp look.
"I'll take you up, Bobbie. Stop trying to avoid this." He said matter of factly.
Bobbie swallowed the thick, hairy lump of nervousness in her throat.
"Okay." She murmured.
Moments later, they were in his bedroom, Bobbie remembering one of the main reasons why she disliked him so much. His sex. His sex was absolutely amazing, and she hated him for it. Bobbie hated Agostino. She loathed him with every fiber of her being. She detested him with every breath in lungs. The simple fact that he could kiss her so softly and make her bend to his every whim with stroke of hips made her despise even more. But most of all, she hated herself.
He was the source of so much pain for her. Her mind kept telling her heart not to crave him, yet her heart seemed to be quickly winning this battle. His kisses made her stomach tighten, and his touch left her skin tingling.
"Bobbie." She closed her eyes as Agostino kissed down her chest, his hips rocking into her.
One of her nipples slipped into his mouth, and he began suckling just like Emilio during his feedings. Her abdomen tightened and he gripped his shoulders for leverage. She could feel the waves of pleasure getting ready to sweep her away. Agostino released her swollen nipple and devoured her lips in a mind-numbing kiss as he sensed her orgasm approaching. He grinds into her deeply, knocking into her cervix. Her toes curled whiled her stomach knotted up. Before she knew it she was moaning his name as she came, the rough ride of ecstasy sending her over the edge. Agostino soon followed, burning his face in her neck as he climaxed. He kissed her one last time then rolled off of her. Bobbie went to get up, but he pulled her down.
"I have to clean up and check on the baby." She placed her hands in his pecs as he slid her back over to him.
"He's fine, hermosa." Agostino shushed her worrying with another kiss.
They had placed Emilio in Bobbie's room while they used Agostino's to get 'reacquainted'. She tried to relax in his arms, but her subconscious kept screaming at her,'what are you doing!?'.
"Don't let your thought mess this up, Bobbie. Just be in the moment with me " She bit her lip as Agostino spoke lowly.
He lifted her chin and kissed her forehead, then pulled away.
"Say, 'te amo'." He instructed, his green eyes peering in her brown orbs.
"Te amo," Bobbie repeated slowly, her brow furrowed.
"What did you just have me say, Agostino?" She gave him a worried look.
"It doesn't matter. What does is that I feel the same." He pecked her cheek and pulled her into him.
CHAPTER FIFTEEN
Loud squeals erupted throughout the bathroom of Bobby, and babe Emilio in his nursery bathroom. Now that Gomez was no more, Agostino saw it safe to go back to his mansion in Colombia. Once they arrived, it was like Bobbie never left. She remembers where everything was and what led to there. The nursery she had designed for Emilio was still the same. The only thing that was missing was Giorgia. She wished the Colombian woman was here to see Emilio. Bobbie just knew she would adore him. Unplugging the tub, she grabbed a towel and wrapped it around her son, then lifted him out. She dried him off and dressed him on the changing table in the bathroom. After she finished clothing him, she combed his wet curls out, and exited the bathroom, making her way over to the little white table and rocking chair that sat in the corner. Squaring down into the chair, Bobbie got comfortable as she reached for the sippy cup on the table. Emilio would be two soon, and Bobbie wanted to start weening him before his birthday hit.
Her son accepted the sippy cup and began gobbling it down. She rocked Emilio back and forth as she rubbed his belly. The door to the nursery creaked open, and Bobbie's head snapped toward it. Agostino stood there straightening his jacket.
"Andres and I have a meeting in Villavicencio. I'll call to check on you and Milio when we get there, but we shouldn't be back no later than midnight " Agostino informed her.
Bobbie nodded and went back to tending to Emilio. She didn't know how to behave around him. Her tongue became a mushy mass of nerves in her mouth whenever he was around. Agostino stepped over to her and placed a light kiss on her forehead.
"I want you up when I get back " he whispered near her ear.
Her breath caught in her throat and if she wouldn't have been sitting she would have fainted. She nodded tensely, and Agostino chortled. He kissed Emilio before leaving the room. Bobbie finally let out the breath she had been holding. He was going to be the death of her. After about thirty more minutes of rocking, Emilio was out cold. She placed him in his crib and laid his blanket over him. Pivoting, she walked out of the room and down the hall to the room she shared with Agostino. Bobbie collected a few items for a bath then made her way toward the restroom.
Placing her items down on the toilet, she st
arted the shower then undressed. Warm water cascaded down her body, washing away her sexual frustration. She grabbed her sponge and body wash and began bathing. Finishing up, she cut the water and slide the shower door back. Bobbie stepped out and reached for her towel. She dried herself and dressed, then disposed of her soiled clothing in the built in hamper. She left the bathroom, going to check on her son. Peeking in his room, Bobbie smiled softly at his little sleeping face. Cracking the door, she tipped away from Emilio's room and turned, making her way toward the kitchen. She pulled out a tray of finger sandwiches that the housekeeper made earlier and prepared a cup of ice cold water.
After making it back up stairs, she cut on Agostino's high-tech tv and channeled surfed until she found something that caught her attention. A Spanish dubbed episode of 'How To Get Away With Murder' peeked her interest and she got comfortable against her plush pillow. Her eyes focused on the screen as her mouth chomped down on sandwiches. Crumbs were the only thing left on the plate once Bobbie got through. She sat the plate on the nightstand and gave the tv all her focus.
