Making Her Mine (Rowdy Brothers Book 1) Page 10

by Glenna Maynard

“I can’t take it, Hattie, I’m going to lay you down right now and I am going to fuck you hard and fast. I don’t give a damn who hears or sees as long as you cum all over my cock.”

He takes the pillow he had behind his back for cushioning against the hardness of his truck and reaches it to me to lay my head on. I discreetly take my panties off and shove them in his back pocket before I push his denim down far enough to give him room to move. I watch as he pokes his head up and looks around one final time before he slams into me. I know the truck is rocking and if anyone looks over here, they will know exactly what we are doing but I really don’t care.

Five intense sweaty minutes later, Zane and I are back to watching the movie. I couldn’t tell you what in the hell it is even about. I can’t stop thinking about the fact that he told me he loves me three times tonight. I haven’t said it back yet. It isn’t that I don’t love him. I do. I want the moment I tell him to feel right. I don’t want to say it merely because he did. I made that mistake with Justin. I went along with just about anything he said whether I really agreed or not. I want things to be different with Zane.

After the movie is over, he takes me back into town for ice cream. The older woman working tells us how cute we look together. She says we remind her of her younger years when she first met her husband. She smiles as Zane feeds me bites of his sundae. He is the best. I really got lucky with him.

My mom and I have been talking again. When I told her about my dad she broke down and confessed that she had never stopped loving him. It made me sad for her and the chance they never had. I told her about breaking up with Justin and meeting Zane. She doesn’t want to see me get hurt again. She hasn’t met him yet. I am both nervous and excited about her coming to see me for the weekend. I really want her and Zane to hit it off. I want to rebuild my relationship with her. I didn’t get the chance with my dad but she’s still here and I plan to make the most of it.

“What time does your mom get here, Friday?” Zane asks once we get back to his place.

“I’m not sure. She is supposed to text me once she gets to town.” I strip down out of my dress and throw one of his t-shirts over my head. I love wearing his shirts. They smell so good, exactly like my man.

“She won’t freak out about us sleeping, together will she? I can’t not sleep in the same bed with you, Hattie.” I don’t like the thought of sleeping alone either. I have gotten accustomed to snuggling up with him every night.

“Awe, look at you being so sweet. I love you, Zane.” The words tumble out of my mouth before I even realize I am saying them. Damn it! I wanted it to be this epic awesome moment. But I guess it doesn’t matter.

“You do,” he says, rubbing his jaw against mine. His hands palm my ass cheeks as I grab his face to kiss him.

“I do, good thing we are friends, or this could turn awkward.” I smirk and go to turn down the covers, so we can get in bed.

“I was going to say, you leaving your things here was starting to border on the creepy side,” he teases me.

  “Shut up, nerd!”

He hits me on the butt teasingly. I wrap my arms around his neck and fall into bed with him. “I guess now would be a bad time to tell you I’ve been married before.”

I still beside him trying not to freak out. “Are you joking?”

“I wish. I had planned on telling you sooner, but the timing was never right,” he says as his eyes plead with mine for me not to be angry.

I understand what he means about timing but what a shitty time to tell someone you were married. I mean shit, we just told one another that we love each other tonight. And now he tells me? Talk about a total buzz kill.

  “Are you mad?”

“No, it’s only we told each other that we love one another, ya know. Kind of a mood killer.”

“I’m sorry. I just wanted to tell you before your mom comes. I didn’t want her to fire questions at me and you find out by me blurting it out or something.” He kisses my forehead and presses his own to mine.

I know there is a lot I still have to learn about him. Right now, this is all fresh and exciting. And I love that there are things we don’t know about each other. Maybe that was part of the problem with Justin and me. We already knew everything about each other. There was no mystery or excitement.

I raise up, needing something to drink.

“I’m going to get a bottled water. You want a beer?”

“Who needs beer when I can get drunk on your pussy.” He smirks as I shake my head at him.

When I come back to bed, Zane tells me all about his ex-wife, Lanie and how she fucked him over. I never would have guessed that any woman wouldn’t want Zane and would cheat on him. I could never hurt him in that way. I nuzzle into the crook of his neck as he traces lazy circles over my arm.

“Move in with me, Hattie Mae.”

“Don’t you think that’s kind of quick?”

“Well, I was thinking…Mason will be finishing up with school soon and coming home to live with me. He could use his own place and you have your trailer and I have mine. I want to go to bed every night to the sound of you breathing. I want to wake up every morning and see your face. Your place or mine…it doesn’t matter but you’re mine and I want this.”

I love Zane and I like being with him, but this is all so fast. I take a minute to think on it. Okay, I take several minutes to think on it. I take so long that Zane pokes me in the ribs to make sure I am still breathing. Justin and I moved at a snail’s pace and I decide to say what the hell. “Okay,” I mumble so low that I am not sure he has heard me. He isn’t saying anything now and I am afraid he was only kidding.

Twisting around, I look over at him and he has the biggest grin on his face. “I am going to make you so damn happy, Hattie.” I slam my mouth into his, craving his kisses. His tongue melds with mine in perfect sync.

“I know you will,” I tease, smiling at him.

I never would have thought moving to a place called Deadman’s Drop would lead me to find a happy ending of my own, but it did.

  Chapter 23

  Zane

A knock I wasn’t expecting sounds loudly at my front door. I peek out the peephole to see my dick of a brother standing on the other side.

Reluctantly I open the door. It’s too damn early for his shit.

  “What do you want, Lucas?”

“I need to know. Did You fuck Kiesha?”

“Fuck no, I didn’t fuck her. I gave her a ride home one night when I passed by her stranded on the highway with a flat tire. She didn’t have a spare, so I gave her a ride. Is that what all this shit has been about? You thought I screwed your easy piece of ass? You fucked my ex-wife and I didn’t say shit about it. You’ve always been jealous of me. Always wanted what’s mine but you will never have Hattie. You tried and failed to come between us. So, if that is all you wanted you can get the fuck off my porch.”

He nods and shuffles on his feet. “Good.”

I nod and wait for him to get gone or say something else, but he just stands there being all awkward.

“Mason is moving home soon,” I tell him.

“Yeah about that. We need to talk.”

I rub a hand over my head not wanting to deal with any more bullshit right now.

“Already got it worked out. I’m moving in with Hattie and he can have my place to himself.”

  “I’m happy for you.”

“Yeah sure.” I snort and roll my eyes.

“I guess Mason didn’t tell you about the deal we are working on.”

  “Nope.”

“Figures. He wanted to surprise you.”

“And you can’t help yourself from beating him to the punch.” I shake my head.

“We want you to go into business with us. We want to buy Rowdy’s. Together. The three of us. Thought we could call it Rowdy Brother’s Bar.”

I don’t know if I want to deck him or hug him.

“Come on, bro. you know you want that bar. I have so
many ideas. We could make some serious cash. I got an in with a guy on the circuit to host a rodeo here next summer. The money that would bring us alone would be fucking killer.”

  “You’re serious about this?”

“Fuck yeah I’m serious. I don’t joke about money. So, are you in?”

“I want an apology for the shit you tried to pull with Hattie. Fucking telling her I knocked Cassie up was low. Even for you.”

He nods. “You’re right. Kiesha has had my head so fucked up. We were fucking and things were going good until I went out of town. I came back and heard you were seen at her trailer. I jumped to conclusions thinking it was my payback for fucking Lanie. I’m sorry. I was a dick.” He holds his hand out. “Are we good?”

I look down at his hand and then I punch him in the face. He goes down hard on his ass. “Now we’re good.”

He cups his nose and says, “I deserved that.”

“You did.” Hattie smirks, coming up next to me and hugging her arms around my waist. “Only question now is…what are you going to do about Kiesha? She pretty much hates you.”

“I’m going to claim what’s mine.” He grins as blood drips down his chin.

Stepping away from Hattie, I hold my hand out and help him.

“Good luck with that, man, she’s feisty.”

“Damn if that isn’t the truth.” He laughs and winces. “I think you broke my nose.”

“Don’t be a pussy. You ride bulls for Christ sake,” Hattie says and we all laugh.

Leaning down to meet her lips I know that someday soon I’m going to marry her.

Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed book 1 of the Rowdy Brothers.
