Kayne’s Fury: A Savage Saints MC Novel Page 21

by Lombard, J. Lynn

Poison looks to me and I nod my head. I’ll have Rooster check it out.

Cahal continues his story, “When I found Kareen, she refused to leave. I moved the family business out here so I could be close if she needed. She married Drex but fell in love with his V.P. MadDog. Once Drex showed his true colors, Kareen was in too deep to be able to get out safely. I contacted MadDog and together we kept an eye on her. When we found out she was pregnant, she kept swearing up and down you were Drex’s child. Neither one of us believed her but kept it to ourselves. Then a few years later, she was pregnant again. She finally confessed to me what was going on and I got her out of there for a few months. That’s when she had Alyssa and gave her up for adoption. To protect her.”

Alyssa snorted from the end of the table, her arms crossed over her chest. “A lot of good that did. I still ended up in that fucking warehouse.” Kareen stares at Alyssa, scratching and fidgeting, not sure if her skin is on fire or if she wants another hit. Rage really fucked her up.

Poison looks at Alyssa with tears in her eyes. “Alyssa, I’m so sorry. I had no idea.”

“I know that now. But the whole time all Drex could do was talk about Poison this and Poison that. It made me sick to know you were free and I wasn’t. I despised you from the moment he rubbed it in my face. The way Drex and Rage made it sound was that you knew and didn’t care.” Alyssa’s bottom lip trembled.

Poison releases my hand and reaches for Alyssa. “No, I had no idea. That man is vile and doesn’t care about anyone but himself. The things he’s said and done over the last twenty-six years to me probably doesn’t compare to what he’s done to you, but know that I suffered at his hands too. I might have been freer than you, but I was still locked up and couldn’t do anything I wanted. The only time I had freedom was when he put me in charge of running his guns and drugs. That’s where I met Kayne.”

Alyssa reaches for Poison’s hand, “I guess we’re both a little fucked up.”

“Yeah, we are, but together we can get through it. Just keep your hands off Kayne. I don’t want to hurt my little sister.” Poison grins, softening the blow she just delivered.

“No worries there. I know he loves you, I can see it in his eyes. I’m working on me and not looking for anyone to make me happy.” Alyssa smiled and I release a deep breath.

“Princess,” I call to Poison. “It looks like you have everything handled right now. I’m going to check on Stryker and see if Rooster’s found anything. You good?”

“Yes, I’m good. Thank you, Kayne.” Poison releases Alyssa’s hand and faces me.

I kiss her. “OK, I’m going to go. Come and get me if you need me.”

“I’ll always need you Kayne. But you need to go and check on your guys. I’ve got this.” Poison answers.

I stand up and Cahal does the same. He extends his hand and I take it. “Kayne, thank you for letting us crash here for a few days. I appreciate everything you’ve done for my family.”

“I didn’t do it for you. I did it for her,” I answer gesturing to Poison. I squeeze his hand a little tighter. “If you hurt her, I will end you.”

  “I’m not and I won’t.”

“Good. I’ll see you around.” I turn back to Poison. “I love you, see you in a little while.”

“I love you too.” I give her one more kiss before leaving the dining room.

Whatever they have to discuss now, doesn’t have to deal with me and I know Poison will tell me later. I walk into the communications room off the living room and find Rooster hunched over the desk, snoring softly. I look at the security screens all around the clubhouse, our warehouse, the shop and the bar. Everything is quiet, not a soul around. I nudge Rooster gently, waking him up.

“Prez, everything good?” Rooster’s voice is husky from sleeping and he rubs his eyes.

“Yeah everything is good. What do you have for me?”

“Well, I did some quick research and can’t seem to find the cabin Rage was talking about. I’ll keep digging, but unless he used his name, it’s going to be like finding a needle in a haystack.” Rooster stretches his hands over his head, making his back pop.

“Why don’t you get some sleep? Everyone else is in bed and then we can get back at it with fresh eyes. You’ve had a long night and a crazy few days. It appears all is good with everything here.” I say slapping Rooster in the back.

“Thanks, Prez. How’s Poison doing with all of this? She’s had quite a bomb dropped on her tonight.”

“She’s doing as fine as can be expected. They’re all in the dining room right now talking and seeing where it goes from here.”

“She’s a strong woman, Prez. I’m sure she can handle whatever’s thrown at her. And she’s good for you. You’ve been moping around here for quite some time and it’s good to see you like this. Now, if you don’t mind, I’m gonna hit the sack, take a quick nap and come back at it in a few hours.” Rooster stands up from the leather chair and heads out the door, leaving me in the room alone.

Staring at the monitors, I reflect on the last few years. Running this club out of the illegal shit it was deep into when I first took over from our sister chapter was brutal. Blood, sweat and tears were shed. Then Drex came along. Conning me into running his guns for his brother-in-law no less. Putting Poison in danger each time. The man is a walking, talking asshole who needs to be stopped. If what Blayde says is right and he did end up shooting Drex, he will either need a hospital or an underground doctor before he goes back into hiding. That should be where we start, but right now my contacts are dried up. I’ve already used Krimson too much. We will have to keep looking for him on our own.

The office door squeaks open and I smell Poison’s lavender scent before she enters the room. This woman has me under her spell and I wouldn’t want it any other way. Her warm body presses against my back as she wraps her arms around my neck, trailing her fingers down my chest.

  “Hey, Princess. How’d it go?”

“Good. We’re going to check mom into rehab in the morning. She’s agreed to stay as long as necessary. Cahal will see she gets the best care possible while in there. He’s heading back to his place after he drops her off.” Poison kisses the side of my neck, causing my jeans to tighten. “Is it all right if Alyssa stays with us? I’m the only family she has.”

I turn in the chair and pull Poison down onto my lap. “If you want her here, she can stay. I’ll do anything to make this easier on you.”

Poison leans into me, kissing me hard. Her tongue runs along the seam of my lips, teasing me with her taste. “I do want her to stay. It’s refreshing to know I have family still alive. Even if my mother’s a junkie and my father isn’t who I thought he was. Now everything MadDog has done for me in the past makes a lot of sense. I just wish he would have told me.” Poison rests her head on my chest and I wrap my arms around her, holding her against me.

“If he did, you would have been in more danger than what you were. They thought they were doing what was best for you. It’s fucked up, but it kept you alive.”

  “I know.”

We sit here in comfortable silence for a few minutes before something on the warehouse monitor catches my eye. Son of a bitch. Flames dance in the moonlight, licking their way up the sides of the building, devouring it right before my eyes.

“Fuck, call the fire department.” I quickly stand almost dropping Poison onto the floor. I run out of the communications room and pound on every door upstairs. “Get up now. We have an emergency.” I shout to each room, rousing everyone out of bed. “Get dressed, move. Move. Move.”

I know it’s too late to save the building. Everything we had stored in there is gone, some of the guns and the overstock for the bar and club, gone. Motherfucker. There’s only one person left alive that would do this to us, Drex.

I will hunt that motherfucker down if it’s the last thing I do. I will make his death look like child’s play when I get my hands on him.

  Epilogue

  Blayder />
  Six Months Later

This has been a strange winter, it’s more like spring right now, so I’m taking advantage of the warmer weather and no snow. I decided to take my new Fat Boy for a ride. With the darkness surrounding me, I think back to everything that’s happened in the last six months as my tires eat up the pavement.

Poison has been doing great with the club. She has visions to make us more money and keep us legal, but it’s going to take time and that’s not something we can afford right now. We need cash and quick. Her sister Alyssa is still shy around our rowdy bunch and her mom, Kareen is still in rehab.

Then there’s Siren. That woman has me tied up in knots from the moment I met her almost a year ago dancing in that hellhole of a strip club, Deadly Sins. The way she moves her sexy body teases the fuck out of me. Her long black hair I want to wrap around my hand and yank it hard while I’m riding her from behind. Those piercing green eyes see right through my bullshit every time.

I can’t seem to get past this huge wall she’s built around herself. Every time I think we’re making progress something sets her off and she lashes out at me. Last time was when she walked in on a patch whore all over me. I tried to get the bitch to let go, but she wasn’t listening and Siren beat the shit out of her and then turned on me. Something bad happened to her in her past. She shut down and won’t let me near her. That was two days ago. Two days without her warm, succulent body sleeping next to me. Two days without her scent wrapping around me. Two days without her has been pure torture. I’m going to have to take drastic measures to get through to her.

I reach my destination in a few minutes. I’m sitting in the dark behind an abandoned warehouse, on my Fat Boy, waiting for him to meet me. I know I shouldn’t be doing this but right now I have no choice. Kayne is going to kill me when he finds out. I’m doing this for the safety of our club. If I don’t meet with this guy, he will bring all kinds of hell down onto our club.

After the fire at the warehouse, the police have been sniffing around a lot asking questions we won’t answer. We can’t safely do our runs for Poison’s Uncle Cahal and it’s taking a huge hit on our income. The repair shop and the bar are doing well, but we need that edge to be comfortable.

It’s taking a toll on Kayne, not being able to bring in a steady income, so that’s why I’m here. Making a deal with the devil.

Bright headlights shine in my direction and I sit up taller on my bike, hand on my gun nestled at my side. If things go sideways, I will go down shooting and take one of these motherfuckers with me. I don’t want to be here, but I have no choice.

The sleek black car comes to a stop in front of me, shining their lights on me, blinding me for a moment. I lift my hand to shield my eyes. The driver shuts the car off and one door opens. One man steps out of the passenger side and opens the back door. The man sitting in the back steps out, adjusts his pristine suit and walks toward me with a casual step. His shiny dress shoes make a clicking noise on the pavement.

“Blayde, thank you for meeting me.” His deep voice is rich and deep. “I hear you need help moving some cargo. I think I know a few men who can do it for you, but it’s going to cost you twenty percent of your cut.”

“Fuck no. We agreed on ten.” I growl out. He’s already on my last nerve, then showing up here demanding twenty? Hell the fuck no.

“Fifteen. I need reassurance you’re MC won’t kill my men on site once the drop is done.” He responds.

“Twelve. That’s the highest I’m going and I don’t know where you think we’re a bunch of murderers.” I sit back on my Fat Boy and rest my hands on my head revealing my gun nestled at my side.

“We want to play that game? Fine. Twelve percent.” He nods his head and another man walks up beside him carrying a duffle bag. He tosses the bag in front of him and stands back with his arms crossed over his chest, smirking at me. He’s built like a linebacker and very familiar. I can’t figure out where I know him from, but I will figure it out soon. “Here’s my insurance that you won’t kill my men when we do the drops. Does your President know what side deal your working?”

“What I tell and don’t tell my Prez has nothing to do with you. This is business only.” I climb off my Fat Boy and stroll over to the black duffle bag sitting between us. I bend down and unzip it. Nodding my head, I pick up the duffle bag and walk back to my bike, tossing it in the saddle bag. “I’ll be in touch in a few days for the first drop. If the cops catch your men, we don’t know each other, and I know nothing.”

I climb on my Fat Boy and fire it up. The deep rumble sooths my frayed nerves. I peel out, leaving the rich asshole in my side mirrors. Now to figure out what I’m going to tell Kayne. He’s going to be pissed I’ve done this but it’s better to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission. Besides, we have to get these guns and drugs out of our legal establishment and back into Cahal’s hands. He might be Poison’s family but business is business and we’re stopping him from running his. Shit must get done and I’m the only one with balls to take this step.
