I am putting my trust in you now, that you will take the evidence that you hold in your hands, study it, and bring justice to four aching, heartbroken families. Please bring them a peace that I never could.
Read it carefully, and understand that everything in here is 100% true.
Good luck, Andrew.

Drew’s eyes widened, and the sound of his whiskey glass hitting the linoleum floor reverberated through the room.
“Holy shit.”
Thank you for reading!

WHAT DID YOU THINK OF THE WITNESS?
For independent authors like myself, reviews are very important. You won’t see my books at the grocery store or on some famous television personality’s book list. Reviews help new readers discover our work so that they can enjoy our stories and we can write more books.
If you enjoyed this book, I would be forever grateful if you would take the time to click the link below and just leave a few words about what you thought about The Witness on Amazon. This link will take you right there:

And if you have any questions or comments regarding this title, or anything else for that matter, I’d love to hear from you. Please feel free to e-mail me at [email protected]. I personally respond to every e-mail.

A NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR
The motivation behind why I decided to write this book is simple.
I love slasher movies.
And if you love horror, I would imagine that you probably enjoy watching one every now and then. Recently, while searching for new horror to read, I went on a quest to find a good slasher book. But, there was a problem. I couldn’t find any.
Now, yes, you could find some pretty extreme horror novels (Splatterpunk, as it’s formally known), but these books seemed a little too extreme for my taste. Granted, I can deal with some gore. After all, I was looking for a slasher story. But my issue was that everything I seemed to find had these extreme rape scenes included, and it just got to be too over the top for my tastes. Reading a rape scene in every chapter isn’t exactly my form of entertainment.
So, I saw a gap in the market. And with The Witness, I feel like I did a pretty good job of writing the book I wanted to read.
There is gore. It is disturbing. There is a body count. But I feel the book succeeds in having a very exciting suspense/dark thriller feel to it, the kind that I really enjoy in books by one of my favorite authors, Blake Crouch. In crafting this book, I was also able to stay clear of the torture porn style horror that has turned me off in other books.
The Witness is written in first person, which was inspired by one of the most disturbing books I’ve ever read: The Girl Next Door by Jack Ketchum. If you haven’t read that book and want to read something that will truly shock you, I highly suggest it. The fact that it’s told in the first person just makes it that much more creepy, and I wanted to put across the same eeriness in this book. But I’ll warn you, it’s not for the faint of heart.
And by the way, since writing this book, I have found some awesome slasher/campy horror novels. Also, if you have any suggestions, please e-mail me. I’d love to discover more slasher books. Hit me up at [email protected]. But as far as what I’ve found, I highly recommend the following books:
KIN by Kealan Patrick Burke
Valley of the Scarecrow by Gord Rollo
Off Season by Jack Ketchum
All that being said, I hope you enjoy The Witness. It is my tribute to some of my favorite horror movies: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday the 13th, Halloween, and House of 1,000 Corpses.
And just a reminder: it’s 100% fictional.
Thanks again for reading, and be sure to keep the light on.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Something about the dark side of life has always appealed to me. Whether I experience it through reading and watching horror or listening to my favorite heavy metal bands, I have been forever fascinated with the shadow of human emotion.
While in my 20's, I discovered my passion to create through playing drums in two heavy metal bands: Kerygma and Twelve Winters. While playing in Twelve Winters (a power metal band with a thrash edge fronted by my now wife Kathryn), I was able to indulge myself in my love of writing by penning the lyrics for all our music. My love of telling a story started here, as many of the songs became connected to the same concept and characters in one way or another.
Now in my 30's, my creative passion is being passed to willing readers through the art of stories. While I have a particular fascination for real life scenarios, I also love dark fantasy. So, you'll find a little bit of everything in my stories, from zombies to serial killers, angels and demons to mindless psychopaths, and even ghosts and parallel dimensions.
My influences as a writer come primarily from the works of Clive Barker, Stephen King, and Blake Crouch in the written form; the beautifully dark, rich lyrics of Mikael Akerfeldt from the band Opeth; and an array of movies, going back to the root of my fascination at a young age with 70's and 80's slasher films such as Halloween, Friday the 13th, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
I live in Nashville, Tennessee with my wife Kathryn, our daughter Haley, and our German Shepherd Guinness. When I'm not writing, I enjoy playing hockey, watching hockey and football, cycling, watching some of my favorite television shows and movies, and, of course, reading.
