Not My Type

“Get a grip girl. You making this more than it is,” she mumbled to herself. “If the man had asked me to come straight to his house, I’d have called him an ass. A dinner and a movie isn’t that big of a deal. Friends have dinner...so we’re friends with benefits. No biggie.”

“Honey are you talking to yourself, or do you need some tissue or something?” The lady from the next stall asked her.

Mika smothered her laugh. “No, sorry, just talking to myself. But thank you!”

  “No problem!”

Mika used her feminine wipes just in case she was getting lucky tonight. She was about to find out either way. She made her way out the stall to the sink, before exiting and finding him exactly where he said he would be. She saw more than one group of sista’s do a double take as they passed him.

“Are you ready?” She asked coming to stand by him.

  “You think you ready?”

She saw the look in his eyes, the tone of his voice and knew she would be getting some tonight! “I stay ready,” she bragged, stepping slightly in front of him.

He looked at her so intensely she almost took a step back. He didn’t say anything and for a moment she thought he was going to kiss her then and there. Instead, he just reached past her to open the door.

IT HAD STARTED TO SNOW as they left but the roads were clear for now. Even so, Robert took his time on the brief drive to his house so she could follow him. He needed time to try for some control anyway. He had been about to kiss her right out in the open, he hadn’t given a damn about the people walking around them. Which was unlike him. He was a hater of PDA and proud of it. Light and sly sexual touches were okay, sexual banter was always welcome. But blunt displays like kissing in front of a crowd was a firm “no-go” for him.

After the meeting in his office he’d had the urge to get to know her better, outside of the bedroom. In truth he was going to be stuck with her while their friends where married, so they might as well be friendly. On top of that he was intrigued with her personality. How could a highly educated woman be successful, nonchalant and flighty at the same time? He wanted to blame it on her age but they were only three years apart.

Except for her appalling money management she seemed to have the rest of her life together. Owned a home, excelling in her career, and she had a sophisticated yet trendy style going on. He could easily see her living in a city like New York or Cali with the way she carried herself. Mika was a ball of energy, and he had some ideas for how she could put that to use.

Damn but she made him hard! She wasn’t afraid to challenge him, to push and poke. Normally that would have turned him off because he could admit to being a controlling bastard at times. Plus he hated games and drama. Instead he found himself playing back, trading barbs and jokes. She didn’t seem to be put off or offended by his sometimes acerbic nature.

He pulled up to his house opening the two-car garage, motioning with his arm out the window for her to pull into the second spot. Once they were both in he closed the door and watched as she got out, rubbing her gloved hands against the cold. He’d warm her up soon enough. They entered the back hallway and he led her toward the main part of the house.

“Do you want something to drink? Wine?” He offered.

“No, some water would be good...for after.”

“I got you.” It turned him on even more to see they were on the exact same page on what was about to happen. “Give me your coat. The stairs are right past the den. My bedroom is on the left. There's a connected bathroom if you need it. I’ll be up in a few.”

She only nodded, walking closer than necessary to hand him her coat. She leaned against him stretching up to give him a light kiss before slowly walking off. She didn’t look back to see if he was watching, they both knew he would be. For his part he kept his hands to himself, as he wanted to make sure they made it upstairs. He was too close to the edge to risk putting his hands on her.

He removed something from his outside pocket before hanging up both coats. In the kitchen he retrieved two bottles of cold water before heading to the half-bath on the ground floor. He took his time, then headed back to the kitchen, using the microwave briefly. Removing his sweater and undershirt before loosening his belt, while he waited for the beep. When it was ready, he took the waters in hand and headed up.

Apparently they were still on the same wavelength because he found her stretched out lazily on his king-sized bed, only in her bra and panties. She’d even taken her necklace and ring off. He appreciated that the U of M colored earrings still hung from her ears. He sat everything in his hands down on the dresser.

“You might as well take the rest off.”

“So now you lazy too? What would that leave you to do?” Mika sat up, but otherwise didn’t comply with his suggestion.

He just stared at her, sliding off his pants and underwear, her eyes following his every move. “Come here...I got something for you.”

She laughed lightly, amused. “I bet you do. What else you got over there besides water that I actually want?”

  “Dessert.”

That piqued her interest and she slowly got up and walked over to him, stopping just out of reach. “Weren’t you telling me I ate too much a while ago?” She reached behind her back unhooking her bra, letting the material catch on her nipples as it fell down her arms. “I thought I was supposed to be working off some of those calories.”

He was transfixed, watching her swaying breasts as she removed her panties. The vixen bent forward unnecessarily to take them off, one foot at a time. He fisted his dick and begin to slowly stroke it.

Finding his voice, he said, “You can eat and have sex with this.” He reached behind him picking up the small cup before closing the distance between them. Dipping his fingers in the warm cinnamon butter he’d gotten from the restaurant, he spread some on each nipple.

Delighted she laughed, which quickly turned into a choked moan of pleasure as he lowered his head to slowly and thoroughly suck the concoction from each breast.

  “Damn, that’s good.”

“Gimme some. I’m the one with a sweet tooth.” She took his mouth in a slow, deep kiss, sucking the sweetness from him.

It was a while before she dipped her fingers in the cup, getting a good amount before painting the spread on his chest and stomach. Wrapping her slick hand around him she stroked him up and down. When a deep groan came from his throat, she backed him up to the dresser taking the cup and sitting it down. She licked his nipples—her hand still working—before following the trail with her mouth until she had to sink to her knees. Looking up she saw his eyes were half-closed and clouded with arousal.

She licked her lips and said, “You know how I love my sweets.” Before taking him in her mouth.

The playful date officially flowed into playful sex. Between laughs, and exploratory touches they took turns satisfying their cravings before she found herself straddling him. He handed her a condom and she smiled in thanks before she put it on him. Lowering herself down on his rigid length she begin to ride him. Alternating between fast and slow, shallow and deep strokes. His hands doing the same to her breasts, gentle then rough as they squeezed, shaped and pinched her nipples. Robert also used his hands to guide her hips, smack her ass and strum her clit when he was ready for her to cum.

After a water break, they went on to have sex two more times. She lay half on his chest as their breathing got back to normal.

“I should probably head out,” she ventured. Not moving a muscle, except for her finger lightly flicking one of his nipples.

Robert didn’t bother opening his eyes as he answered, nor did he remove his arm from around her. “If you really want to go out in the snow after midnight, feel free. If you staying...stop playing with my nipple so I can sleep.”

Instead of leaving his nipple alone, she pinched it and got a firm slap on her ass for her trouble. Neither spoke as she snuggled next to him and closed her eyes. She had no desire to go out in the wet snow when s
he had a nice, warm body to lay next to.

  Chapter Nine

MIKA WRAPPED UP HER work on Thanksgiving near noon, having been at it since eight in the morning. Saving, she sent updates where needed and was finally off the clock! The rushed redesign and changes had come in late Wednesday after work, right as she had been loading up her car to head out. She damned herself for even picking up the phone. Her boss made it clear he considered this a rare emergency. The conversation when she had called her mother to explain however hadn’t gone well.

“This is unacceptable Mikala. It’s the holiday for goodness sake! Your boss knows you always go out of town.”

“I know Mother. But that’s why I can’t blow off this assignment. Every year I’m gone. This year I volunteered to be on call. Honestly we’ve never had a crisis on the holiday so I didn't’ think much of it. But surprise I’m up!”

“Just tell them you already left. Let someone else do it.”

“I can’t do that. I have a responsibility to the team.”

  “But this is family time!”

“They have a family and a life too!” Mika raised her tone as well only to be met with silence. Sighing she continued. “Look, the sooner I stop arguing with you and get off the phone, the sooner I can get this done. Depending on how much is needed I may make it tomorrow for Thanksgiving. If not I promise I’ll drive up early Friday and still be able to spend the weekend with everyone...okay?”

  “Fine,” her mother said stiffly.

  “Bye Mother.”

Now looking out the window in her home office, she watched the lightly falling snow and considered her options. If she left soon she could make the trip before it got completely dark. However it had snowed late last night, and up north normally got more than her area which meant the roads were probably a mess. She shook her head and decided it wasn’t worth it. The forecast called for on and off again snow flurries until late tonight. Firm on her decision she sent her mother a brief text, letting her know she’d be up by noon on Friday. Turning off her ringer she headed for a shower.

Finished, she felt refreshed and got dressed in a comfy football outfit so she could settle in to cheer on her poor but determined Lions. It was odd, for as much as she hated her family trips to the cabin she was feeling a little lonely. She enjoyed watching the game with her father and uncle. While her cousins, mother and aunt actually left them alone for a few hours.

She hadn’t always enjoyed sports, but she’d learned at an early age it was one way she could spend time with her father. Daddy had been so busy when she was younger, constantly having to prove he deserved his position. He got paid tons of money, and he definitely earned every penny of it. She had grown to love sports after a while. She couldn’t even go crash at Andrea and Cam’s place, as they were spending this holiday with Andrea’s parents. Making a snap decision, she grabbed up her purse and phone before putting on some shoes with a matching coat before heading out the door.

SHE DIDN’T ALLOW HERSELF to think about her destination as she drove, figuring it would all work out in the end. If push came to shove there were some nice restaurants out this way, if she ended up needing to grab some turkey. She had almost forgotten about Robert’s hastily given invitation. It had been clear he regretted the words which was another reason she’d been surprised to receive flowers again this Monday at work.

This time there had been three, an orange rose, a yellow rose and a blue hyacinth. She was still clueless on why the odd number and pairings. This batch had been less than the first one. Was this some kind of countdown? She had finally stopped trying to figure out the workings of a man like Robert’s brain and just enjoyed the flowers. Now she was on her way to crash his family’s Thanksgiving dinner.

Sitting in his driveway for a few moments, she counseled herself to get a grip. She braved her way to the front door and rang the doorbell, putting on her most charming smile. She blinked at the pretty shortish woman who opened the door, looking her up and down.

  “Yes? Can I help you?”

“Hi, I’m a guest of Robert’s.” She didn’t wait for an invitation as she angled her body inside the door.

Brihanna was so taken aback by the pronouncement that she didn’t think to block her. The smiling woman stood in her brother’s hall already taking off her coat.

“You say you’re a friend of Roberts?” Brihanna asked, crossing her arms as she watched the woman put her coat in a hall closet. It was obvious she knew her way around.

“I wouldn’t go that far. We’re acquaintances. I’m Andrea’s best friend Mika. I know him through her and Cam.”

“Oh! That’s right! I thought you looked familiar!” Brihanna exclaimed. “I recognize you from the wedding video.”

  “Yep, that was me.”

“Nice to meet you. I’m Brihanna! I don’t know why my blockheaded brother didn’t mention you were coming.” Brihanna started walking away and gestured for Mika to follow.

Mika started to correct her, but now she was the one being steamrolled as Robert’s sister quickly ushered her into his beautiful kitchen. The two women cooking stopped what they were doing and turned to look at the newcomer, both of their faces showing mild curiosity.

  “Who is this?”

  “Aunt Dolores, really?”

“I’m Andrea’s best friend, Mika Harrison,” Mika spoke up, deciding to lead with the association that made a difference.

“Mama remember? She was in the wedding,” Brihanna clarified.

Mika watched the women’s faces stretch into pleased smiles.

“Ahh, yes! It was such a beautiful wedding. You all looked wonderful. We were so happy sweet Andrea finally settled down with our Cam!” The woman speaking moved forward and embraced Mika in a hug before she could protest.

“I’m Johanna, Robert and Brihanna’s mother. Welcome!” Pulling back, she gestured to the other woman holding a spoon. “That’s my sister Dolores.”

Mika preempted a hug by reaching her hand. “It’s nice to meet you all. Andrea told me a lot about you guys from her visit last year. She really enjoyed it.”

The older women were beaming with pleasure at that comment, when Robert walked in.

“Who was at the door?” He stopped in his tracks when he caught sight of her. “What are you doing here?”

Mika’s smile slipped a bit, his tone definitely didn’t seem pleased. His facial expression wasn’t much better. “You invited me. I know you’re getting old, but I didn’t think your memory was gone yet.” The whole kitchen—sizzling pots included, seemed to hold its collective breath waiting on his response.

Robert, who still hadn’t glanced at his family stepped closer. Mika stood in his kitchen giving him attitude, looking sexy yet casual at the same time. She was holding a Traders Joe’s bag as she calmly waited on his response.

“You told me you’d be out of town.”

  “Plans changed,” she said.

As he hiked a brow and crossed his arms, she let out a huff of her own. Annoyed at having to explain herself.

“I got stuck redoing a major project for work yesterday. I just finished a little while ago, so I’m driving up tomorrow instead. Which is why I thought I’d take you up on your invite...if that’s okay?” She asked the last with hesitation.

“No its fine, just unexpected,” Robert said softly. He was about to close the space between them when the sound of a throat clearing caught his attention. His mother was giving him a look. He really had forgotten the other people in the room. “I’m sorry. Let me introduce you to everyone.”

“Already taken care of,” Dolores said tersely, her own eyes narrowed on her only nephew.

“Of course Mika is welcome. Any friend of Cam’s is. What’s that in your hand honey?” Johanna reached out and took the bag.

“Just my small contribution. Sorry, I didn’t bring a dish.”

“Can you cook?” Dolores asked her customary question as she moved her sister out the way to peer inside the bag.

&nb
sp; “No ma'am, pretty much not a lick!” Mika said cheerfully, her smile back in place. “Not unless you guys want breakfast for dinner.”

“Don’t nobody want eggs on Thanksgiving day,” Dolores said, rolling her eyes. “Get on with you then. Go and watch your football game.”

Mika looked down at the time on her phone. She had only missed about five minutes of the game. Turning back to Robert she asked, “Did anyone score yet?”

Before he could answer Brihanna interrupted. “Hey...why does she get out of kitchen duty and I don’t?”

“One, because she’s a guest.” Johanna shook her head at her youngest.

“Two,” Dolores chimed in. “You need to learn to cook. We’re trying to prepare you for the day you get a man. You know, that day way in the future, so you can cook for your husband.”

“Why do you have to say it like that!” Brihanna snapped at her aunt.

At the same time her mother interjected, “I’ve told you about messing with my baby.”

“Your baby not gone ever have no babies, if she don’t learn how to cook! Or if she does they gone all starve.”

As a full-out argument started Mika backed away from the women and ran into Robert. “I’ll just...get out the way....umm I’ll...check in later.”

All three women waved her away, not even glancing at her as they continued the family squabble. Robert took her arm leading her from the kitchen.

“You leaving your sister like that?” She whispered to him.

“I’m not getting into the middle of that old argument. Besides, my sister is tough, she can take care of herself.”

  Chapter Ten

ROBERT WATCHED THE surprise on all his cousins’ faces as Mika walked into the room and went straight for Devon and Darrell. Those two were surprised but pleased to see her. He took the time to introduce her to the other members of his family in the room. She took the introductions in stride and then settled down in the armchair Thomas offered her. At least she wouldn’t be sitting between his two perpetually horny relatives this time.
