  I don’t know how these amazing beasts are programmed, but as lifelike as the battle is, neither Thantose nor I get a scratch.

  After the initial shock of the experience wears off, I get bolder and have my bear, who I nicknamed Brawny, attack a tall-necked thick-skinned blue animal on the edge of the action. By the time the announcer says, “Ten modicums to go,” I’m yelling at my opponent and spurring Brawny forward.

  Just as quickly as the ride began, the action ceases. Brawny’s skin returns to room temperature, the feeling of his chest expanding with each breath stops, and the roars and squeals no longer assault my ears.

  Thantose hurries over to help me down from my perch on Brawny’s back and escorts me out of the building.

  “So? What did you think?”

  “Wow! I thought we would just… I don’t know what I thought, but that was… amazing.”

  “We can go home now,” he jokes. “I brought you here to see you smile and I’ve accomplished my task. When you weren’t hurling epithets, screaming at your opponents, or urging your beast to attack, you were positively beaming.”

  Grace (a musician) is with Tyree who was little & sexless until his recent transformation

  Anya (mastermind of the insurrection against their masters) and Zar (feline humanoid with mane and tail)

  Zoey(painfully shy, previously named the ship Battle-Scarred Warrior) and Steele (silver skin)

  Savannah (was a Marine and is still a clotheshorse) and Theos (Norse-god looking with white hair and light skin)

  Maddie (the chef) and Stryker (scarred face)

  Brianna (BBW masseuse) and Axxios (gold skin)

  They are now in a mated triad with Axxios’s silver twin, Braxxus
