“Why didn’t Jacob come?” she asked him as she slid into the back seat.
“I don’t know, Grace,” he answered her honestly. Jacob had been closed mouthed last night and was conspicuously gone when Damien and the twins had come downstairs together after rising.
Grace didn’t say anything else and when they arrived back at the plantation and there was no sign of Jacob, she went upstairs, her heart aching and she wasn’t even sure why. She skipped going down to eat dinner with Abby like she usually did and instead curled up in the large armchair that faced the fireplace and picked up her book, determined to get lost in fantasy and put Jacob out of her mind. But two hours later, she had barely read but a few pages, her mind insisting on dwelling on the look on Jacob’s face last night and his absence today.
“Damn the man,” she swore as she tossed her book aside and strode out of the room. He had pushed until she could do nothing but give in, and when she finally does, what does he do? Gives up? She had no idea, because he wasn’t around so she could ask him. Stomping downstairs, she searched every room until the peal of Abby’s laughter drew her outside.
With a low groan, she spotted Abby and Damien skinny dipping, the tigers laying lazily in the yard, watching the couple with bored expressions. Damien’s hands were everywhere as they swam together, Abby playfully trying to elude his touch while sneaking in a few of her own caresses under the water. There was an underwater light that lit up the entire pool leaving nothing to the imagination as the two of them frolicked.
Grace thought she should leave them some privacy then changed her mind when she recalled how no one around here seemed to mind an onlooker. Without realizing it, she found herself envying the other couple, wishing she could be that open and carefree with Jacob, no reservations, no fears and no uncertainties marring their time together. She had been close last night, but Jacob hadn’t given her the chance to see if she could take that step. She resented him for that even though she had to admit he had been more than patient with her.
When Damien cupped Abby’s breast, Grace’s own nipple tightened in response. When he squeezed Abby’s ass, her own cheeks clenched and when he palmed her pussy, her own gushed in response. Her eyes may be on the other couple, but her mind was still consumed with Jacob, and it was the undeniable need for him that had her responding so heatedly to watching the other couple.
Damien apparently had enough play and with a strength Grace still found astonishing to witness, lifted Abby onto the side of the pool. Spreading her legs, he buried his head between them as Abby leaned back on her arms, lay her head back so her long sable hair fell like a wet blanket down her back and let out a long moan of pleasure. She should leave, Grace thought, but made no move to do so. Her pussy heated as she watched Damien drive Abby to climax, her throat closed as she remembered how Jacob’s fingers felt inside her and as she imagined his mouth doing what his fingers had so expertly done. Her one boyfriend had only gone down on her a few times, and her reaction had been no more earth shattering than when he had fucked her. Nothing even close to what Abby was apparently experiencing.
Was it the connection that made the difference, or the man? If she got the chance, she was going to find out. She was tired of constantly watching and dreaming, tired of the fear overruling her body’s demands. Grace turned away as Damien replaced his mouth with his cock, determined to confront Jacob and what he wanted from her head on. That is, if she ever saw him again.
Chapter Fourteen
Caitlin knew they were back when sudden blinding need overtook her. The inside of her thigh started to tingle, which made her nipples tingle, which made her pussy tingle, which made her irritable. Watching them move with sure strides towards the bar, she honestly couldn’t say which one had her senses fired up on all cylinders, had that strange mark on her thigh throbbing with warmth and her breasts and pussy responding in kind. Last night in the alley they had come across as men who could handle any situation and remain unfazed, and they had that same calm, but determined look about them now.
She didn’t mind sexual attraction. On the contrary, she used to enjoy it immensely. What had her on edge was the intensity of her lust, especially coming on the heels of a long dry spell of feeling nothing, no strong urges to get laid, no real need to have sex with anyone, not even men she found attractive. She couldn’t help but wonder what had changed, why now and why with not only one man, but two. She could always settle for the easy explanation, the obvious taboo lure of two men, brothers, whose physical appeal alone would knock the socks off any sane woman. But she had never shied away from facing the truth, and accepting that possibility and running with it would be a cop out. There was more going on here than the temptation to fulfill a sexual fantasy of fucking two men. And until she found out what it was, she was going to keep her distance.
“Your admirers are back.”
Caitlin’s gaze shifted from the brothers to Bobby, noted the lustful gleam in his blue eyes and grinned. They were the same height, so it was easy to wrap her arm around his shoulders and give him a friendly hug. “Go for it. I won’t stand in your way.”
“Yeah, right,” he snorted, returning her hug before pulling away. “Everybody in the place can see they only have eyes for you. The women are glaring daggers at you and the men are glaring daggers at them. Put us all out of our misery, sweetie, and give ‘em what they want so we can all move on.”
“Not gonna happen. Take care of them please.” Turning, she moved several paces down, pulled a bottle of Jack Daniels out from under the bar and started to fill a few orders as she tried to ignore them when they took a seat, their nearness making her tremble with arousal, adding to her irritation.
Bobby raised a black brow in question, but didn’t say anything. “Welcome back. What’s your pleasure tonight, gentlemen.”
“Beer, please,” Jon ordered even though he really didn’t want one. Keeping up appearances was important, though, especially since it looked like their girl was going to play hard to get for now.
“Nothing for me,” Luc told the bartender, a little put out at the possessiveness he felt when he saw Caitlin wrap her arm around his shoulders with a familiarity that got on his nerves. “You been working here long?” he asked, wanting to know exactly how close the two were.
“Eight years. Caitlin’s as good a boss as Dan was, God rest his soul. I wouldn’t want to work for anyone else,” Bobby told them as he poured the beer and slid it across the bar toward the one with hazel eyes, the only physical distinction between the two. The other one’s amber eyes were a touch cooler as they watched Caitlin unblinkingly, his jaw kept more rigid as if he wasn’t sure about her, or maybe it was his own attraction to her he was fighting. Bobby struggled to bite back a grin of anticipation. Those two were going to bat heads, but he had a feeling the other brother would put a quick halt to any conflicts by the way he did nothing to hide his growing interest.
“She buy the place from him?” Jon asked as he took a very small sip of the beer. They had both stopped in an alley and fed off a couple of college kids who were still celebrating spring break. At least that was one hunger they could temporarily sate until they mated with Caitlin, which he, and Luc, intended to do as soon as possible even if Luc wasn’t ready to embrace the idea wholeheartedly yet. Jon wasn’t worried about his brother’s reluctance, he knew Luc wouldn’t be able to deny his body’s dictate or resist the allure of bonding with their chosen one for long.
“Inherited it. Anything else you want to know about Caitlin, you’ll have to get from her,” Bobby answered coolly, letting them know his first loyalty was to her. “Let me know when you’re ready for a refill.”
“They’re close,” Luc murmured when Bobby moved away to wait on another customer.
“Doesn’t hurt to have someone who has her back when we’re not around. And from the way she’s ignoring us, it might be a while before we can get her out to the plantation.”
“Like hell,” Luc snarled, turning his attention f
rom Caitlin to Jon. “I may not have been ready to find her yet, but ready or not, she’s ours and her safety is our responsibility.” His frown turned quickly to a sly grin. “The attraction’s a given. All we have to do is turn on the charm and she’ll come along.”
“Sex might be the easy part. Getting her to move in with us, especially after she finds out what we are, might prove a lot harder.”
Luc shrugged, unperturbed. “She’ll come around.”
Two hours later, Luc was eating those words. The damn woman had successfully avoided them all night. When she stayed at the opposite end of the bar, making no move to approach them, they switched seats. When she started to move away, Luc snagged her wrist, running his thumb over her erratic pulse, giving her his best come hither look.
“Why are you rushing off, Caitlin? Aren’t you happy to see us again?” Luc let his eyes travel from her face slowly down to her chest where the prominent display of her pointed nipples could be seen through the green tee shirt she wore with the bar logo. “You look pleased.”
Caitlin cursed her body as well as them as she jerked her wrist out of his light hold. As if her response to their nearness wasn’t enough, the feel of his calloused palm on her flesh felt like a burning vice, the heat of his touch spiraling down to her pussy so fast her knees threatened to buckle on her. She was determined to get control of herself before she decided if she was going to relieve this itch with these two, wanting to make sure she made a level headed decision rather than making a lust induced, spur of the moment mistake.
“There’re a lot of men in here. I could be pleased about any one of them,” she shot back, wanting to put a dent in his ego since denying what her body was so blatantly advertising would be futile.
Luc scowled, but Jon chuckled as he reached across the bar top and pinched her chin. “Not hardly, sugar, but we’ll let you have that one. What time do you get off?”
The double connotation wasn’t lost on any of them and for the first time since she had lost her virginity at the age of eighteen, Caitlin felt a warm blush spread up her neck and over her face. “None of your business,” she snapped, hating and loving the way her pussy gushed as she pictured these two working together to ‘get her off’. Apparently, the hour she had spent with her vibrator last night hadn’t done the trick. Turning away from their smirks, she left the bar to mingle with her customers, something she tried to do at least once a night. It was just good business, she defended herself as she put some space between her and the brothers, she wasn’t running away from them or the threat they posed to her sanity.
“Damn, leggy redheads with attitude really turn me on,” Luc sighed as he watched her twitch her round ass showcased in tight jeans, his cock jerking in pleasure as he imagined sinking between those two enticing globes.
“Short, meek blondes turn you on also,” Jon pointed out as he also appreciated the sight of Caitlin stomping off in a huff.
“What’s your point?”
They both laughed as they sat back and kept an eye on their reluctant mate, content for now to let her keep her distance, both determined it wouldn’t last.
Caitlin swore for the third time when she found herself looking over at the twins. She was an independent, self-sufficient almost thirty year old who had never had a problem remaining detached from anyone except Dan, and it had taken him years to break through the protective wall she kept around herself. Her earliest childhood memories were of her parents either fighting or fucking regardless of whether she was in the room or not. She had been in grade school when she discovered what the white powder was they constantly snuffed or injected as well as sold to all kinds of creepy people who came to their rundown trailer in the bayou. She had taken to hiding out in the swamplands whenever she saw someone approach she didn’t know, waiting until dark, or later before sneaking back in and going directly to her small room and hiding out again until morning.
By the time she was ten, she was spending more time at her best friend’s house than hers, Liddy’s parents welcoming her with open arms and concerned faces. Most weekends she went home with Liddy and didn’t return to her home until late Sunday, her parents never questioning where she’d been. Life had been bearable, even pleasant through grade school because of Liddy and her family, but when they moved away the summer Caitlin turned thirteen, she suddenly found herself with nowhere to go but home.
That lasted all of two weeks, until her parents were arrested for drug dealing and she was put into foster care. She liked to think she gave the home they put her in a chance, but the truth was, it was nothing like Liddy’s home and her foster parents weren’t even close to being the concerned, caring substitutes that Liddy’s were. So, instead of starting the eighth grade that fall, she got an education in learning how to survive on the streets of New Orleans, an education that had come in handy in running a bar on Bourbon Street. Six months later, she had picked Dan’s pocket and her life once again changed course, this time for the better.
She was honest enough to admit she wouldn’t have lasted long without his interference, without him literally plucking her up and depositing her in the upstairs apartment where he said her rent would be in the form of her going to school every day, staying off the streets and spending her spare time sweeping up in the bar and cleaning the toilets. He had been hard as nails when she screwed up and loving and supportive when she did well. He gave her independence and freedom with restrictions and she in turn gave him her obedience, loyalty and, eventually, her love.
She liked her life, the bar and her friends as well as her independence. She wasn’t going to give up any of them for any man, which was her biggest holdout in giving in and inviting Jon and Luc upstairs for a night. She had always had a sixth sense about things, intuitions when something, or someone was more than they seemed, and her sixth sense had been kicking in strongly since their appearance last night, hadn’t even abated when they were nowhere around all day. But her body could care less about her misgivings. In fact, her arousal just kept escalating no matter how much distance she put between them, no matter how hard she tried to think of something or someone else.
Why don’t you come back here, darlin’?
Caitlin jumped at the sound of that deep, sensual voice in her head, looking around as if she could spot someone grinning at the joke. The place wasn’t busy, only half full, and no one seemed to be paying particular attention to her as she walked from table to table, saying hello to those she knew, inquiring as to the needs of others.
That was Jon, Luc told her, grinning at the way her eyes flew across the room to where they were still seated at the bar. Get your hand off that man’s shoulder and come talk to us, he growled when he saw her lightly touch a seated man, her grip tightening when she heard his voice in her head. This possessive compulsion was new and not altogether welcome.
You’re playing with fire, Caitlin, Jon warned her, his good humor taking a dive at the sudden possessiveness filling him also. He, however, didn’t mind the unfamiliar emotional thing he was developing for her as much as Luc did, or thought he did. His brother always was one slow to accept change.
Caitlin’s body shook with the force of her desire, their voices in her head the most erotic thing she had ever heard. She wanted to scream at them to shut up while holding her breath in anticipation of hearing them again. Usually when she spoke with them, she wanted to smack them.
“I’m sorry, what did you say, Bill?” she managed to ask as she pulled her shocked gaze away from the brothers and back to one of the bar’s long time patrons.
“It’s about time some guy had your head in the clouds,” Bill chuckled. “You’re too young to spend every night with a bunch of old geezers like myself.”
“You’re not old,” she told him fondly, her body still shuddering from her reaction to hearing those voices, her mind still struggling with the incongruity of it. “Besides, no one younger could hold a candle to you.” Two other older men were sitting with Bill, all three longtime friends of Da
n’s who gave her their unfailing loyalty and support. All three laughed then shooed her away and Caitlin had no choice but to head back to the bar, especially since Bobby was giving her the evil eye.
“How did you do that?” she demanded when she stopped in front of Jon and Luc, ignoring their smirks and the hum of arousal that wouldn’t leave her alone.
“You can do it too,” Jon told her, liking the way they flustered her. When she was flustered, she wasn’t scowling at them. “Just think of one, or both of us, and send your thoughts. Try it.”
Go away, she silently thought, sending the message toward them both.
No, they answered simultaneously.
Holy crap, she thought then smiled when they both laughed, realizing they received that message without her even trying. Now, she was not only horny, she was intrigued, and she was beginning to think the only way she was going to get rid of these two, and her disturbing reaction to them, was to give in to the inevitable. And really, what was there to worry about? One night in the sack with two hot guys and she could go back to normal, put them out of her mind as easily as she had the others in her past who had eased her loneliness and her lust.
“Okay, you win. I’ll get Bobby to close up and then you can come with me upstairs to my place and explain how you, we can do that.” Their smug looks of satisfaction were as identical as their looks, but Caitlin didn’t let that bother her. One night, that was all she was giving them and when they realized that, it will be her turn to be smugly satisfied.
“Are you sure, Cat?” Bobby asked her a few minutes later after she had pulled him aside and asked if he’d mind closing up, his worried look going from Caitlin to the two hunks eyeing her like she was a tasty morsel they couldn’t wait to devour. “What do you know about them? Anything?”
“No, but you know that’s the way I prefer it, Bobby. I’m not interested in forming any kind of attachment or pursuing any kind of relationship, especially with two men. One would be a pain in the ass to keep happy, two, impossible.”
