Competing for Lisa [The Callens 11] (Siren Publishing Ménage Everlasting) Page 15

She tossed them a disgusted glance and stalked out. Dante raced after her.

He expected Trevor to follow, but instead he stood there wiping his face and looking down at the floor. He then glanced up. “What she said was right.”

Mitch nearly shouted. “I agree. What are we going to do about it?”

“You haven’t slept with her, have you?”

What difference did it make now? “No, but it wasn’t for lack of trying. She deeply cares for you both.”

“What if she decides she can’t handle the three of us?”

Mitch must be hallucinating. The last thing he wanted was to say anything to damage the tentative thread of hope. “I’ll bow out. You and Dante had her first.”

He shook his head. “She wants you, man.”

“She wants all three of us.”

Trevor drew in his bottom lip and winced. His hand shot to his face. “Shit. You still working out at Howard’s Gym?”

Had his jaw stopped throbbing, he might have laughed. “My last match was with you. If you’ve got time, we ought to go a round, but my writing hand insists we use gloves and wear protection. I’m getting old and decrepit.”

“You? You still pack a hell of a punch.”

“Oh, yeah?” Despite the cut lip and the possible hairline fraction in his cheek, Mitch smiled. The impossible had been accomplished.

  “Yeah.”

  * * * *

Mitch waited three days for his cracked lip to heal and the bruises to fade before he called Lisa. He still felt bad that she’d stomped off, but he could hardly blame her. No woman enjoyed witnessing two grown men fight over her. Fortunately, she was bright enough to realize that a lot more was behind Trevor’s punches than him seeing Mitch with her.

While he’d only had the smallest taste of her pussy, he wanted her—bad. He loved her spunk and willingness to stand up to all three of them. What kind of woman would do that? His woman.

He’d written over a million words and while he’d had his heroine and hero often fall in love quickly, he’d always scoffed at their relationship as being one of pure fiction, but now he’d witnessed it firsthand.

Maybe he’d fallen for her because of the way she always wanted to know about his writing or where he found his inspiration. Lisa wasn’t the typical fan. She dug into the whys until he’d had to admit some of his past. After his sharing misfortune, his view on relationships had turned bitter, which was why his books always ended on a sadly realistic note.

Trevor had actually texted him two nights ago asking how he was doing. Because Mitch wasn’t sure if he was referring to his mental or his physical state, he responded that he wasn’t sure he was up for dueling with the tough Trevor Callen anytime soon, but that at least his writing hand hadn’t sustained any injuries, for which he was thankful.

They might not be ready to get drunk together yet, but the relationship was in the mending process. Once that weight was lifted, his outlook on life had turned considerably rosier. Perhaps he’d been in denial over how much the rift had caused him to be pissed at life, despite his financial success.

Mitch was now ready to take the next step in their relationship. Hoping Lisa would agree to a quick outing with him, he called in a favor from Logan Smithfield, husband to Trevor’s cousin, Jade Callen. Logan was a developer who loved to fly and who happened to have his own jet. He had a pilot on call whenever he wasn’t flying it himself.

Lisa loved everything about the outdoors. What better place to spend the night than in Yellowstone? Even if she’d been many times, the place was magical and together they could explore parts of it.

Before he reserved the room, he called to see if she was up for an adventure. He debated asking Dante to join them, but then decided for their first time together, he wanted all of her.

She picked up on the fifth ring and sounded breathless as if she’d had to run to find her phone.

  “Mitch, are you okay?”

He laughed. “Yeah, darlin’. I’m fine.” He was glad to hear she worried about him. “I have a little surprise planned for you. I know you’ll be returning to Denver in a bit, so I wanted to spend time with you.”

“I’d love that, but are you sure your ribs and cheek are up for it?”

He’d told her they’d been sore. “Good as new. It’s eleven now. Can you be packed and ready for an overnight by three?”

“Where are we going?” He loved the enthusiasm in her voice.

“It’s a surprise, but you won’t need your racket. Bring a warm jacket and hiking boots.”

“Should I—never mind. I’ll just pack. I love surprises.” Her voice came out singsong at the end and he laughed.

  “See you soon.”

The next two days were going to be ones he’d never forget, and his cock hardened at the thought. While his cheek was a little sore, it was the most worthwhile beating he’d ever received.

  Chapter Seventeen

While Dante had called a few times in the last three days, as had Mitch, Lisa had never been more confused in her life. Mitch claimed he and Trevor had made up, but until she saw it for herself she wouldn’t be convinced.

“Bring this.” Mandy held out one of her winter jackets.

  “It’s June.”

“Mitch said to dress warmly. Maybe you’re going camping or something.”

She hadn’t thought of that. “I’m still bringing my sexy new underwear.”

Mandy grinned. “Which you wouldn’t have without my guidance.”

“Very true.” As much as she loved when she and Beth could get together, of late both of them had let work get in the way. Being with Mandy this month had really reminded her how much she valued their friendship. “If I forget, I wanted to say how wonderful it has been to be able to spend so much time with you and Candy. I miss you guys so much.”

“It’s an easy fix. Take the job here.”

She’d given it a lot of thought. “I want to see what the firm in Denver has to offer. I’ll then check with a real estate agent and see what she thinks I can get for the condo. If I can’t sell it, I have no choice but to remain in Denver.”

Mandy rubbed a hand down her arm. “But what about love?”

She wasn’t ready to address that yet. “I’ve known them a month.”

“Untrue. You met Dante and Trevor nine months ago and even you admitted that you’ve been thinking about them ever since.”

“It doesn’t matter what I want, I’m not coming without some sort of guarantee that they want me.”

Mandy rolled her eyes. “Have it your way.” The doorbell rang.

“Crap. Mitch is early.” She stuffed the rest of her gear in the suitcase and tossed on her backpack in case Mandy had guessed correctly.

Her suitcase wasn’t heavy, so she was able to handle it and headed to the door. Cam had answered and he and Mitch were chatting. While there was some discoloration under Mitch’s left eye and his lip appeared to be somewhat puffy, he looked great.

  She waved. “Hey.”

Mitch smiled, tapped Cam on the shoulder, and rushed toward her. “Look at you with your backpack. Let me take your case.” She handed it to him.

Mandy slid next to her and gave her a hug. “Have fun.”

“I can’t wait to see where Mitch is taking me.”

Even if she asked, she bet he wouldn’t tell her. They headed out and he stowed her suitcase as well as her backpack in the back and then helped her into the front seat. There was little gear, so perhaps they weren’t camping.

As soon as Mitch folded himself in and started the engine, she had to ask. “You talk with Trevor?”

The right side of his lips lifted. “Do you mean did I ask permission to sweep you away to some romantic locale?”

She laughed at his wording. “Yes.”

  “I wouldn’t have felt good if I hadn’t.”

“Good.” She was a little surprised he hadn’t asked Dante or even Trevor to join them, but perhaps he wanted to have some alo
ne time with her. That worked for her. Too bad it might make it harder when she had to leave. Or was that the point?

Mitch headed east on Miller’s Way. Instead of going north toward I-80, he went south on Crescent Road. She didn’t know the area that well, but he wasn’t headed toward Cheyenne or Denver. “I’m intrigued.”

  “By what?”

  “Where are we going?”

A mile down Crescent, he made a right-hand turn on a dirt road called Harmon’s Divide. “To a small airstrip.”

Her heart jacked up. “We’re going on a plane?”

“Shit. I never thought to ask. Are you afraid of flying?”

He looked so grief stricken that she had to laugh. “No. In fact, I had a very brief relationship with a pilot of a Piper Cub—you know, one of those single engine things. I really enjoyed the ride until he let me take control.”

Mitch glanced. “Let me guess. You pushed the yoke forward thinking it was like stepping on a gas pedal, and the plane dove instead of going faster.”

  “How did you know?”

He tapped his head. “Writers do research. If you’d have read Repossessed, you’d have known my hero was a pilot.”

“I did pick up one of your books.” She’d stopped halfway when she realized the sad ending would have torn out her heart.

He glanced over at her then pulled into the grass parking lot. “Didn’t like it?”

“As I’ve stated before. I’m a happily ever after girl.”

  “You’re beginning to convert me.”

She laughed because she wasn’t exactly sure what he meant. Did he mean he wanted a happily ever after with her? Don’t think about it. If she did, she’d probably drive herself crazy.

He piled out of the car and came around to her side and helped her out. He nodded to a small jet. “That’s our plane.”

  “Don’t tell me it’s yours.”

Now it was his turn to chuckle. “No. Ironically, I used a Callen connection.”

Maybe only he and Trevor had been estranged, and not Mitch and the rest of the Callen family. After he gathered the gear, he led her over to the plane then introduced her to the pilot who said he’d take care of the luggage.

Mitch motioned she head up the stairs. The inside had six cushy seats behind the pilot. They were wide and made from plush leather. “This is really nice.”

“I’m glad it meets with your approval.”

Once they strapped themselves in, the pilot spoke with someone over his headset and the jet took off. When they were airborne, she leaned across the aisle. “Ready to tell me where we’re going?”

“I know how much you love the outdoors. What better place to get away and see nature than Yellowstone.”

She twisted in her seat. “Are you kidding? You won’t believe this, but I’ve never been.” This was such a fantastic surprise. From the way Mitch was grinning, he looked as if she’d given him the best present ever.

While the plane was loud, they managed to talk about their favorite places to visit and where they wanted to go. She told him she loved Costa Rica but longed to see Fiji, and he said he loved Paris and had always wanted to see the Kremlin.

The jet lowered and before she knew it, they’d landed in another small airfield. To her amazement, a chauffeur arrived, and he told her this would be her ride to Yellowstone.

Once they were seated in the back of the limo, she scooted one leg under her. “Do you always go to this length for a date?”

His eyes widened as if he couldn’t believe she’d ask that question. “Darlin’, I rarely go anywhere. My publisher is always breathing down my neck for my next book or for my edits. This is a true aberration for me, but you are worth it.” He lifted her hand and kissed each of her fingers.

“Thank you. I feel honored.” He glanced to the driver then pulled her close for a sweet kiss. She was so happy.

The drive took over an hour, but when they pulled into the park, its beauty was astounding.

“We’re staying at the Old Faithful Inn. If we’re lucky, we’ll be able to see the geyser go off. We don’t have much time to explore tonight, but tomorrow we can take a hike and see the wild animals and maybe some waterfalls.”

Unless she could beg him to lie in bed all day and make love.

Once the driver dropped them off, they carried their gear inside the rustic hotel. “Oh, my.” There was a huge four-story-tall stone fireplace in the middle of the lobby. Overhead, hallways were open to the lobby with rocking chairs on each floor. “This is really cool.”

“It’s rustic for sure, but wait until you see the rooms.”

She didn’t care, as long as they were exploring the place together. They checked in and were directed to an East Wing room. Inside were two queen beds with wooden slatted headboards and a lamp with a cutout of a buffalo in the shade.

  “I like it.”

“Me, too. How about we get something to eat and then check out Old Faithful? If I recall, the geyser goes off about seventeen times a day, so we should be able to catch it erupting.”

“Sounds like a plan.” Lisa laced her hands around his elbow and together they went into the dining room. “Everything is made from wood.” The walls were log cabin style and the chairs cane-backed. “I feel like a pioneer woman.”

“I’ve never written a historical but it might be fun if this is what it would be like.”

The room wasn’t crowded, so they were served quickly. She enjoyed the lemon pepper chicken while Mitch had the smoked buffalo that he said was incredibly tender. Though she didn’t usually have dessert, the selection was too good to pass up. She ordered the mango sorbet while Mitch had the Yellowstone Caldera, a warm chocolate truffle tort with a molten middle that looked totally decadent.

After dinner both of them were ready to burst from too much food. He paid and pushed back his chair. “Let’s wander around until it gets dark. I need some exercise.”

Lisa patted her stomach. “Me, too.”

As if they were newlyweds, he held her hand and told her all the tales he’d been told about Yellowstone. He pointed to where the geyser was about to go off. “There’s a crowd gathering. Let’s check it out.”

Probably millions had witnessed this wonder, yet she was psyched to see it. “How tall do you think it gets?”

  “Maybe a hundred feet.”

When they arrived, Mitch pulled her to his chest and wrapped his arms around her. The air held a slight sulfur smell, but she didn’t mind. Being with Mitch was all that mattered. Her only regret was that neither Dante nor Trevor could be here. She leaned back her head and was content to wait.

Within ten minutes a sputtering sounded and steam rose from the hole in the middle of the large empty dirt field. For the next few minutes, they oohed and aahed with the rest of the crowd, and she was amazed by its sheer strength. The geyser seemed to shoot a lot higher than a hundred feet.

When the show was over, they strolled around, enjoying the scenery. As the sun set, Mitch led her back inside. The closer they got to the room, the more nervous she became. That was stupid, as she’d been thinking about making love with Mitch for weeks. What if they weren’t compatible in bed?

Don’t even go there. Mitch was sensitive and wonderful. She bet he’d fulfill her every dream, just as Dante and Trevor had.

He let them into the room. “I need a shower. It’s been a long day. Anyone care to join me?”

How sweet that he was giving her the choice to treat this as a friendly trip or make it into something wild and wonderful. “I think I’ll join you.”

His grin was wider than Old Faithful was tall. “Do you need help undressing?”

“Well, my fingers are a little cold, which makes unbuttoning my jeans difficult.”

Mitch stepped closer and her pulse raced. “Let me help.” He unzipped her jacket and placed it on the bed. She’d worn a long-sleeve pullover that Mitch divested her of in seconds. He leaned back and whistled. “Oh, baby. I was hoping you’d surprise me, and y
ou sure as hell did.”

She’d worn her new hot pink bra and panty set, so she was thrilled he liked what she’d chosen. The bottoms were a thong and the top a push-up bra. Because she was already well-endowed, her breasts spilled over the top.

He shook his head. “I don’t know where to begin. Maybe I’ll have you take off your jeans so I can decide.”

“I need to take off my boots first.”

In a flash he lifted her up and placed her on the bed. “Let me.” On one knee, he tugged off each boot. How did she get so lucky to have three men who treated her well?

Mitch slid her back to the middle of the bed and took off her jeans and socks. She now was dressed in only her panties and bra.

“Pink is your color, darlin’.” He stepped back. “Can I ask you something?”

His demeanor changed to be serious. “Sure.”

“I gotta ask. Have you ever had a cock in your ass?”

“No.” She hoped that didn’t put him off.

He stepped over to his suitcase and unzipped it. A second later he pulled something out, turned back to her, and hid it behind his back. “I want to make love with you real bad. I love pussy and I love ass.” He showed her what he had. It was a package that contained a huge dildo. “It’s to stretch you out. If all four of us are going to be together, I’d be honored if you’d let me be the one to help you become comfortable with having a real cock in your ass.”

This was it. She understood this was the first step, and who better than Mitch to show her the way. “I’d like that.”

He blew out an audible breath. “Now that we got that out of the way, I say we get to it then shower, which was just an excuse to get you naked anyway.”

She chuckled. “You do have a way with words.”

He laughed. “As long as I got to undress you, do you want to do the honors?” He held out his arms in offering.

“You have no idea.” Her fingers had itched to touch him from the moment he’d arrived at Mandy’s house. “You okay with a little extra curricular activity?” She licked her lips and glanced to his cock.
