“It’s done,” Camelia said, her hand still wrapped around the crown of Selena’s head. “Selena is yours. But first… my Final Spell.”
“What do you mean?” We’d already done what Camelia had wanted. Now every bone in my body screamed for her to hand Selena over to Jacen and me, so Selena would be safe.
Camelia closed her eyes and started muttering in Latin. As she did, yellow magic ebbed out from her, encompassing her and Selena into a glowing bubble. She kept muttering the words I didn’t understand, the magic getting brighter and brighter.
She stopped speaking, and the magic hurtled away from her, going straight into Selena. It hummed around the tiny baby until every last bit of it dissolved into her.
Once all the magic was gone, Camelia lowered Selena gently to her lap, leaned back on the bed, and closed her eyes. Her breathing stopped.
Camelia was gone.
And Selena no longer smelled like warm vanilla. All that was left was the familiar floral scent of witch.
The scent of the fae had disappeared.
I lifted Selena gently off Camelia’s body, cradling her in my arms and examining her to make sure she was okay.
She was more than okay—she was beautiful. Her eyes were a stunning deep violet that I’d never seen before. And she looked up at me with so much love that it filled my heart more than I ever thought possible.
Today I hadn’t only become a wife—I’d become a mother as well. I was so happy I feared I might burst.
Jacen moved next to me, placing a hand protectively over Selena’s head. “What did Camelia do to her?” he asked, looking to Dahlia and Violet for the answer.
“Camelia used her Final Spell to bind Selena’s faerie side,” Dahlia said, stunned as she looked at the baby girl in my arms. “Selena’s faerie magic is still inside of her—no witch spell could ever take that away—but it’s dormant. She won’t be able to access it.”
“For how long?” I asked.
“For forever,” Violet said. “Perhaps one of the fae would be able to reverse the spell, but given the circumstances of Selena’s situation…” She let the sentence hang, looking at Selena with sadness.
“The fae can never know Selena exists.” I held her closer, protecting her. Selena was my daughter. I was going to keep her safe no matter what.
Even if that meant she never knew about half of who she was.
“The fae will never find her.” Jacen gazed into my eyes, love for Selena and me radiating off every bit of him. “We’ll keep her safe on Avalon. They won’t take her away from us. She’s ours, and she’ll always be safe here.”
“I love you,” I said, nestling into him so we could both admire our beautiful daughter.
“And I love you,” he said. “Both of you. For all of our lives, and into the Beyond.”
“Yes,” I said, positive it was impossible to feel any more joy than I was feeling right now. “The two of you are my family, and Avalon is our home. We’ll live here, together. Forever.”
Thank you for reading The Angel Trials! This series was a blast to write, and I hope you loved it much as I loved writing it.
Selena’s biological father is a faerie named Prince Devyn, and I’ve written an extra scene showing his reaction when Selena is born. (The extra scene will also give you a hint about what’s to come in the next Dark World series, The Faerie Games.)

While The Angel Trials is over, the story continues with Selena’s story in The Faerie Games!

**THE HUNGER GAMES MEETS PERCY JACKSON**
I’m Selena Pearce, and in the past few days I’ve been kidnapped by faeries, gifted with powerful magic, and forced by the gods to compete in a twisted game to the death.
Growing up on the magical island of Avalon should be great... but I have no magic to speak of. And my parents forbid me from leaving.
So when I sneak out to Earth for a night and meet a hottie named Julian with ice blue eyes that leave me breathless, of course I say yes to a date with him. But when Julian pulls me through a magical portal, I realize he isn’t human. He’s a half-blood faerie sent to bring me to his realm of the Otherworld. Because apparently, I’m a half-blood faerie, too. And I’ve been chosen to compete in the annual Faerie Games—a brutal, gladiator-like competition where half-bloods fight to the death.
Too bad I can’t get my new magic under control. But with all eyes on me, I only have two options: Die in the Faerie Games, or win and earn my freedom.
Now the other players—including Julian, who still captivates me even though I should hate him—better watch out. Because I’m determined to get home.
And I’ll fight anyone blocking my path to get there.
